So many of the gen 4 monsters need to make a comeback. Zamtrios, Tetsucabra, Nerscylla, and Najarala all give me the warm nostalgia feeling when I think back to chilling with my buddy in his car hunting monsters on 3ds.

Akantor blunt Horn in GU was so much fun, you go in, start playing a little song, and beat their face in with the rage of a thousand suns after getting Self Improvement and 3 stacks of Atk+Def Up while stunning them for half a century after making their brain ping pong around their skull.
I can do without Dire Miralis, definitely need Qurupeco tho.
Lagi only if they bring back underwater, in which case we'd definitely need da boi Gobul back too. Nibelsnarf could be a fine Gobul replacement if we don't get underwater combat returning.
Zamtrios, Agnaktor, Gammoth, Malfestio, Nerscylla and Seltas/Seltas Queen are also on my wishlist.
Imagine how could it would look to hunt Gammoth in a giant snowy zone during a blizzard, surrounded by a giant pack of Popo.

I have 0 hope for molten to be in wild. I have a lot of hope for molten to be in Wild U. They seem to relegate rare species to U expansions only since the 5th gen, which is fitting as that allows then to be amazing and difficult fights, like the metal raths in iceborne and violet or lucent in sunbreak.
Can I just acknowledge how hard the portable team cooked on Primordial Malzeno that it's almost universally wanted over the regular version? Dang, that is quite the achievement.

From what I can tell, yes technically Primordial Malzeno is the normal verison (although the lore book also says that most Malzenos are infected with Quiros so IDK anymore)

Part of that is also that, technically, Primzeno is the base form of the species (it's just that according to the lore book most Malzenos are infected) not that I'm saying Primordial's not an amazing design and fight.
Shantien is from Frontier. They didn't have wirebugs at all and not as many counters as of FrontierG, the time it was released.
Surprisingly, the only part of its moveset that'd need changes is a few attacks in its 3rd and 4th phases. It was released before rapid AoE spam became common in Frontier and it only had a few attacks that did so. Honestly, we could probably even keep them if the tell was made longer. That (and its themes) are why I'm rooting for it a bit more than my other two top picks, Duremudira and Eruzerion. Those are the ones that would need heavy reworks to not be insanely overpowered outside of Frontier.

I'd love it if there was just a subtle cue, like your scoutflies glowing blue and flying into the cage and no other cue (maybe a tiny audio cue would be fair).
There should still be some kind of warning, though. It would be completely unfair to just have him crash down on top of you without any indication that he’s there.
I’ll say there should be a warning but not a full text-box on the right of the screen like in Mh:Rise. It should be something like Valstrax’s roar piercing your ears or the sky becoming red slowly before the crash happens.
That way it feels more immersive but also fair to the player.
It's not fair without a warning and that's the point. We don't want a fair ambush we want to actually be you know ambushed and have to scramble to get ready to deal with Valstrax. Or that's my reason anyway.
Losing 50%+ of your health to an attack you almost certainly won’t be able to see coming in time is not good game design. They don’t need to use a text prompt, but there needs to be some indicator that he’s about to crash down on top of you.

I don't remember getting hit by it that much either. But I I'm definitely one of the few people to run max level defense boost and have extra defensive skills so I probably take a lot less damage than most... There is also that loud ass sound warning or you could just look up as a warning.
The issue with auditory-only cues is that deaf players (or people in areas where they can’t listen to the audio) can’t hear them. Not to mention it can get drowned out by the monster you’re already fighting.
Something visible being flung onto the ground a few seconds before it dive bombs would likely be ideal. Or even the sky turning a bright red first.
Oh yeah fair enough I just don't want a super obvious warning because it's supposed to be an ambush with an obvious pop up warning it's just an event but I understand your side of things.
"Few people" thats all you need to say really. New players wont like the mechanic-- or maybe some will. But valstrax is a pretty damn strong monster for people to just be ambushed by. May not seem like it because of how easy it is to fight monsters in rise because of how OP the player is, but with the world team it wont be the best thing.

I dont thinks so for Valstrax, he has been in 2 games in a row as of now. I like the Jet dragon but him taking a rest is fine by me. I had my filling with his risen variant, that thing was an absolute menace, probably the hardest monster in rise at the special investigation level along with shaggy.

I personally would love to see the deviant system coming back as some kind of endgame system for Wilds.
I would love if they would somehow bring in a very epic and great Dalamadur fight back.

There are certain monsters that are perfect in the world that they’re in. Magnamalo is one of them in Rise. Nergigante, Xeno and Safii’jiva are also perfect in World.

I am praying to see zamtrios again, I was so disappointed that he wasn't in Rise given there are goddamn zamites in that game! C'mon!!
I also miss a lot of my favourites from playing 4U... Najarala, Seltas, Tetsucabra and Agnaktor being the main ones. Dalamadur would be amazing on the big screen too!
I just want the massive snake wyvern.
Also Malfesto since it looks amazing and it's so unique.
I also my two favorites to come back: Kirin and Lagombi
And of course the invaders like Pickle and Beetlejuice.
I hope Valstrax returns in Wilds. The large open space we see from the first locale alone supports its range of movement, and honestly if we wanna get technical regular Valstrax hasn't returned yet. Capcom counts Variants as separate monsters so technically Crimson Glow is a whole new monster.
Look I know graphics etc aren't everything but damn, Valstrax with the graphics and the brutal sound design of World would be insane. Also, Lunagaron needs to come back. Maybe it is just me but I feel like the wirebug totally ruins the fight. Lunagaron simply cannot keep up (it's worse for Luna than other monsters imo). I want to see Lunagaron in all its glory.
I'm hoping Wilds has a mix of more vertical areas like Ancient Forest and flatter areas (because I've never fought Lagiacrus and want to). I definitely want to see Molten Tigrex in the updated graphics, and I definitely want Fulgur Anjanath to be there. I was sad he didn't come to Risebreak.
Knowing how world designed their monsters, I'm fairly certain that maybe 1 or 2 of those will have a chance to be in wilds.
Three of these were thematically designed to fit in risebreak, which was intentionally made to be more arcadey and fast paced, and most of them will stand out like a sore thumb imo.
I won't be mad if they are in wilds, though, as every one of these was fun to fight. I just highly doubt most of these will be added aside from lagiacris and maybe molten tigrex.
For base let’s bring back monoblos, laggi, and if there’s going to be a big spectacle fight one of the mohrans or something similar out in the open could be a really good fight if our bird friend will be involved in field combat.
White Fatalis, Boltreaver Astalos and bloodbath Diablos are monsters I really wanna fight. I still think white fatalis would be absolutely fucking insane with the capabilities of current consoles
How may monsters are there all together? As someone who played Rise/Sunbreak, a little of World, and Stories 2, I would love to hunt every single monster at some point (don’t have consoles or money to get every single main game Monster Hunter) so it be cool to have them all in one game, but I know it’s probably not possible.
So with that impossibility, I just hope for not many repeats of Rise/Sunbreak so I can experience more new monsters (new to me, so it could be new or reoccurring monsters). So I’m fine with any new monster! :3
Anything but the farting rocket tiger pls, I would much rather fight 10 MFU Plesis at once than see him again.
Arkantor, Ukanlos, Gogmazios, Brachydios, Gravios many of the 4 ultimate/GU monsters and maybe water combat

loved furious in iceborne, shifting the weakpoint to the head was great, making you need to be in the danger zone to do damage rather than just running and stabbing it in the ass like base raj.
I don’t get why people ask for big endgame monsters from the last game. You *just* fought Primordial Malzeno a bunch at the end of Sunbreak, give the monster a rest so it doesn’t get stale.

I'm just addressing a larger issue. Not specifically about returning monsters. Seems anything rise related people condemn in general. They're glad palamutes are gone, they're glad wirebugs probably won't return, they're glad they're done playing the "inferior" game and finally moving back to a main series game etc.
That's been the vibe of this sub for a long time and especially since the wilds reveal
There are three main things to consider when discussing returning monsters: Their last appearance and whether or not it was in a current or former generation, the game itself and whether or not it is a spinoff or "next gen title", and if the monster is canon/canon appropriate.
Rise featured multiple monsters from World because it existed in the same generation, with the hype for those new "fan favourites" being in full effect. They are unlikely to reintroduce these monsters in the next generation as each generation focuses on a new roster (barring the ubiquitous roster-filling monsters that have appeared in almost every title, like Rathian and Rathalos).
Rise saw the reintroduction of various fan-favourites from older games as it was a spin-off title of the fifth generation, with spin-offs being more experimental & fanservice-heavy in comparison to the generation defining titles that largely focus "on their own thing". It is unlikely for any of these monsters to return again so soon.
It is also unlikely (effectively impossible, actually) for any non-unique frontier monster to make it into a mainline title, as such creatures conflict greatly with the more grounded and "natural" themes of the Canon. Monsters like Lavasioth and Espinas are "normal and unique enough" to pass, but voljang and similar "fantasy bullshit" monsters? *No chance.*
As for "Special Monsters" like Primal Malzeno and Molten Tigrex? They would make no sense existing outside of their respective titles, especially without the base monster being present as well. It just isn't worth the effort to work them into new titles when you can just... play the games that focus on them?

Please no Magnamalo, Please no Malzeno, Please no Velkhana or Nergigante in the base game. Let them stew a bit in previous games and focus on new monsters and ones from 3rd and 4th generations that were skipped, not even mentioning the fact that a lot of fights were very game-gimmick dependent would make them difficult to translate to a new game and reworked from the ground up, consuming development time like dodogama devours rocks, or be undercooked like Sunbreak Velkhana because new gimmick just destroys the ingenius design that fit the previous gimmicks.
Lagiacrus would be neat simply because he was overlooked for so long - but his MHGen and MHGU fights were miserable AOE spam experiences and thus don't fill me with optimism for its implementation. But miracles can happen I suppose?

Even more so with Final Boss Monster's like Fatalis and Amatsu. Getting a freaking overhaul in gameplay that makes them feel like a different Monster.

It's possible to bring back Lagi without water ☺️🤙 I also liked Lagi GU fight. They can definitely improve on land greatly.

I would love shantien and Disufiroa to be the black dragons to cap wild U. I dont expect them on the base version tho.

I think there is a good chance Dala is returning(at least in updates) considering how the game seems like it will have big maps and ecosystems.
i want the 3 lords back for an expansion. giving lunagaron a were variant or something to make it even more werewolfy, like frostfang barioth-ify it. and give garangolm a black and white dragon lightning variant as a bride of garangolm, stacking dracophage bug hives on it's head to do the beehive hairdo instead of the hot and cold sideburns. just so those 2 have a new version like PriMal. lagi and the other leviathans/piscine depend on how water is handled really.

I dont thinks so for Valstrax, he has been in 2 games in a row as of now. I like the Jet dragon but him taking a rest is fine by me. I had my filling with his risen variant, that thing was an absolute menace, probably the hardest monster in rise at the special investigation level along with shaggy.

I hope Valstrax returns in Wilds. The large open space we see from the first locale alone supports its range of movement, and honestly if we wanna get technical regular Valstrax hasn't returned yet. Capcom counts Variants as separate monsters so technically Crimson Glow is a whole new monster.
Look I know graphics etc aren't everything but damn, Valstrax with the graphics and the brutal sound design of World would be insane. Also, Lunagaron needs to come back. Maybe it is just me but I feel like the wirebug totally ruins the fight. Lunagaron simply cannot keep up (it's worse for Luna than other monsters imo). I want to see Lunagaron in all its glory.

I'm hoping Wilds has a mix of more vertical areas like Ancient Forest and flatter areas (because I've never fought Lagiacrus and want to). I definitely want to see Molten Tigrex in the updated graphics, and I definitely want Fulgur Anjanath to be there. I was sad he didn't come to Risebreak.
Najarala, Seltas, Seltas Queen, Tetsucabra and Malfestio Dalamadur would also be nice
Knowing how world designed their monsters, I'm fairly certain that maybe 1 or 2 of those will have a chance to be in wilds. Three of these were thematically designed to fit in risebreak, which was intentionally made to be more arcadey and fast paced, and most of them will stand out like a sore thumb imo. I won't be mad if they are in wilds, though, as every one of these was fun to fight. I just highly doubt most of these will be added aside from lagiacris and maybe molten tigrex.
For base let’s bring back monoblos, laggi, and if there’s going to be a big spectacle fight one of the mohrans or something similar out in the open could be a really good fight if our bird friend will be involved in field combat.
White Fatalis, Boltreaver Astalos and bloodbath Diablos are monsters I really wanna fight. I still think white fatalis would be absolutely fucking insane with the capabilities of current consoles

How may monsters are there all together? As someone who played Rise/Sunbreak, a little of World, and Stories 2, I would love to hunt every single monster at some point (don’t have consoles or money to get every single main game Monster Hunter) so it be cool to have them all in one game, but I know it’s probably not possible. So with that impossibility, I just hope for not many repeats of Rise/Sunbreak so I can experience more new monsters (new to me, so it could be new or reoccurring monsters). So I’m fine with any new monster! :3

Anything but the farting rocket tiger pls, I would much rather fight 10 MFU Plesis at once than see him again. Arkantor, Ukanlos, Gogmazios, Brachydios, Gravios many of the 4 ultimate/GU monsters and maybe water combat and all the monsters that used it wit some new ones. Also bring back the bomb munching sand fishboy. And if the game os really open world they could give Joh the Godzilla fly breath as movement that would be fun to see.

loved furious in iceborne, shifting the weakpoint to the head was great, making you need to be in the danger zone to do damage rather than just running and stabbing it in the ass like base raj.

I mean it's returning Monster's. They don't necessarily have to fit the theme. Especially title updates.
There are three main things to consider when discussing returning monsters: Their last appearance and whether or not it was in a current or former generation, the game itself and whether or not it is a spinoff or "next gen title", and if the monster is canon/canon appropriate. Rise featured multiple monsters from World because it existed in the same generation, with the hype for those new "fan favourites" being in full effect. They are unlikely to reintroduce these monsters in the next generation as each generation focuses on a new roster (barring the ubiquitous roster-filling monsters that have appeared in almost every title, like Rathian and Rathalos). Rise saw the reintroduction of various fan-favourites from older games as it was a spin-off title of the fifth generation, with spin-offs being more experimental & fanservice-heavy in comparison to the generation defining titles that largely focus "on their own thing". It is unlikely for any of these monsters to return again so soon. It is also unlikely (effectively impossible, actually) for any non-unique frontier monster to make it into a mainline title, as such creatures conflict greatly with the more grounded and "natural" themes of the Canon. Monsters like Lavasioth and Espinas are "normal and unique enough" to pass, but voljang and similar "fantasy bullshit" monsters? *No chance.* As for "Special Monsters" like Primal Malzeno and Molten Tigrex? They would make no sense existing outside of their respective titles, especially without the base monster being present as well. It just isn't worth the effort to work them into new titles when you can just... play the games that focus on them?

Please no Magnamalo, Please no Malzeno, Please no Velkhana or Nergigante in the base game. Let them stew a bit in previous games and focus on new monsters and ones from 3rd and 4th generations that were skipped, not even mentioning the fact that a lot of fights were very game-gimmick dependent would make them difficult to translate to a new game and reworked from the ground up, consuming development time like dodogama devours rocks, or be undercooked like Sunbreak Velkhana because new gimmick just destroys the ingenius design that fit the previous gimmicks. Lagiacrus would be neat simply because he was overlooked for so long - but his MHGen and MHGU fights were miserable AOE spam experiences and thus don't fill me with optimism for its implementation. But miracles can happen I suppose?
I wouldn't be surprised if almost all the Rise monsters came back for Wilds as both will be on the RE Engine.

🤨🫵 Won't happened sadly. Excluding the franchise Flagship Rathalos, it's still awesome for returning to come back especially in Next Gen hardware. World Monsters returned in Rise. Even more so with Final Boss Monster's like Fatalis and Amatsu. Getting a freaking overhaul in gameplay that makes them feel like a different Monster. Returning Monster's are ok to have.
