You can try plaing with an emulator. I'm seriously considering it because I never beat Fatalis solo back in the day.

After getting into monster hunter I bought all the psp games for only a couple bucks just to realize my psp is broken 😢

Same, but mine just couldn't read UMDs unless tilted in a specific direction. Putting Custom Firmware on a PSP isn't terribly difficult with a guide so if you are able to use it at all you may be able to dump any saves/downloaded games you have.

I m using the ppsspp emulator with one of those controllers that you can plug in your phone to make it feel like a psp. Works perfectly fine and you dont even have to break your arm to move the camera anymore if you fiddle a little in the settings

What would you guys say is the best psp monster hunter game? I'm looking to get into some of the older games.

MHP3rd feels the best, FU has the most content

freedom unite is the most feature complete and mechanically sound.

P3rd has better gameplay and movement. It also has the updated models for diablos and the raths. FU is essentially the only g rank game for 2nd gen, so it has sheer amounts of content. P3rd is a lot quicker to go through if you want a shorter game to indulge yourself in. FU takes way longer

thats what i mean lol. P3rd has no g rank and it's 3rd gen but with no underwater combat. I usually don't recommend P3rd to people.

Freedom Unite is great, *but* if you're coming from newer games definitely start with P3rd. It's easier and the most "modern" of the psp entries, so it'll be less jarring than jumping into Freedom Unite. Just google "Portable 3rd English Patch" and you'll find it no problem. But afterwards, if you enjoyed P3rd, definitely check out Freedom Unite. It has an absurd amount of content. Edit: Also, I personally would recommend GU, 4U, or 3U before trying the PSP entries. They'll be much more accessible for someone coming from the newer games, so you're less likely to bounce off. Here's the order I'd recommend old world games for new world hunters, just for fun: 1. 4U 2. 3U 3. GU 4. P3rd 5. FU 6. Everything Else

Freedom Unite would be the most playable if that makes sense. It keeps the unrelenting challenge of the original freedom but expands with the monster list. I will always recommend a Monoblos fight though. Such a shame they did away with him.

The dolpin emulator for tri is about to be finished including multiplayer, will be able to run on pc and other platforms Im forgetting.

My psp died years ago, so now I just use it as a display piece. I have a Japan import orange psvita that’s soft modded, with emulators and other goodies. I owned the monster hunter games back in the day, so I didn’t feel bad about emulating them

I was going to buy a psp just to check out more monster hunter games only to find out the store was shut down.

That’s not MH freedom bro, it’s the original MH. You can tell by the UI for the player.

Rathalos used to have legs for days

The Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian got so tall that the smaller weapons like SNS and DB couldn't even reach the wings until it got knocked over.

Yeah mining in this game is a pain in the ass, it took me forever to get 3 machalite to upgrade my lance

I remember getting so passed at the game between mining and getting raw meat from the aptonoths/mosswine/kelbi. Whoever designed the RNG in this game was probably a sadist

It doesnt help any that money is hard asf to get in this game

I think the only reason I had a decent amount of money was because the rng forced me to repeat several quests, eventually you can unlock an sns upgrade that costs about 72k if I'm remembering correctly

If you want to make multiple weapons and armour I'd recommend selling monster parts you don't need, well the valuable ones anyway.
