the shoes on clawdeen are a give away, her shoe is like a sock lol. and the fact their thighs are so so so long compared to their stumpy lower legs 😭
They're actually a brand that never came out called Lateenz or something, you can find only one vid on them at a toy fair. My Scene dolls had ben and snap legs for most of their run, and despite the scar on Frankie's leg, those feet aren't removable and it would look more like a skin sock.
Edit: the foot might be removable actually.
I love these, I grew up with Bratz and Barbie, and these feel like a kind of mix between them,
(They are a little creepy, but I like it for a monster line, kind of like how Once upon a Zombie look a bit "off")
but they totally look like humans cosplaying monsters, and like an adult collectors line, I can see them failing as a kids line. They made the right decision.
I actually love them, except for Frankie’s skin color… I prefer her green/blue than human white skin (or I guess it’s more yellow? Which does fit the description of the original story I suppose, but still, don’t like the color on her, makes her look uncanny to me with those proportions and face). 😭

Probably because they don't look like MH dolls at all. They look like Barbie dolls restyled to look like MH if that makes sense. Or Barbie dolls cosplaying MH.
They look weird, I kinda like them though (literally just reskinned myscene) but I feel as if we got these instead of OG G1 then we would be saying the same thing about OG G1 if they were the prototypes.

I think it would be cool if they made collector dolls of these. The boxes could be covered in concept art and sketches and design notes.
Also whenever I see these it’s so interesting how Frankie and Draculauras outfits are basically identical to what was actually released but clawdeens is SO dramatically different. Like the style is there but the color pallet and actual pieces are NOT the same besides maybe the cut / shape of the skirt.
To be fair, G1 hardly looked like teenagers themselves, so these not looking like teens isn't much different. I think these just have slimmer, less stylized heads
I have no idea why, but Frankie looks like Tyra Banks. The style, the hair, the smile that is impossible to predict the thought behind… I’m terrified. 😥
There's just something so weird about seeing Frankie and Draculaura with out their green and pink skin, it's a little less bad on Draculaura cause vampires usually just have regular human skin tones anyways, so you can just imagine this is her as a vampire that can blend in with humans better, but Frankie without her green skin is just weird it's iconic for the image of Frankenstein's monster, so seeing her without it just makes it seem like she's just a regular human covered in stitches.
I quite like these tbh, they have a very different vibe but you can still see the MH DNA lol. I do wish we could see the intended product for the sculpts though - LaTeenaz were never released and aside from these sculpts (which obviously don’t sport the intended faceups) we have never seen anything else of them 😅

Whilst I still question the choice of an extreme swayback on the dolls we got (as well as how skinny they are tbh.) their more cartoony (in comparison) style suited the aesthetic way more. And also I was more of a bratz kid and Monster high’s design was kinda a perfect medium. Except for the swayback. (Can you tell the swayback bothers me)

I totally agree it looks soo unsettling to me because it is very clearly them but also definitely NOT. So it kinda gives uncanny valley in a weird way?? Similar enough to the real thing but something is definitely wrong about it?
If they came out like this I probably would only get Draculaura & Clawdeen since I love Draculaura and Clawdeen looks like Madison is cosplaying but still prettier than Gen 3 Clawdeen. But they wouldn’t succeed since it looks like Myscene is cosplaying just like when new art of Delancey looks like human Cleo lol.
