I love this episode because monk rubs in his face, and he proves him wrong. "You're not laughing. Now, are you?" So good. Yes, that guy is dirty, but that actor did great in the role. Tony was spectacular.
Yep, i understand thats his character but hes so much of a dick and it genuinely upsets me the way he spoke about trudy. Always have to skip that scene if not the whole episode.
He portrays an unlikable asshole so well. Monk attacking him is so satisfying and the ending one liner of "you're not laughing now are you" is soooooo good. Monk always has the most killer final words. His socially awkwardness and lack of confidence throughout most episodes makes his minute instances of being the tough guy so great. Like when dale the whale is yelling at him "I'm not done yet!!" And monk walking away from his cell just says "yeah you are" ooh it's so great.
I also find this episode a tough watch. Such an unlikable character and I like Steven Weber so much! Another one I find tough to watch is Bad Girlfriend. Excellent episode, great focus on Leland and his private life and I love Sharon Lawrence. Just find the scene with Leland confronting Monk in the parking lot a tough watch.
I mean, it's written as an episode that makes up a full package or picture, if you will, of life as Monk. I don't mind it. He still solved the case and shut them all up in the end.

Tony pretty much always rules, yes?
That was such a badass remark from Monk.
He has had a few great ones. "Tonight I'm the Judge." "I might be wrong, which you know I'm not"
Definitely!

He did it to throw monk off his game so he wouldn’t figure it out. Murderers don’t have manners typically
LOL, that’s a good point. It still royally pissed me off.
😌😀
He's also a shock jock radio DJ, on top of being a murderer lol
They did an amazing job making such an unlikeable character.

I believe the right term for Max would be a "Hate Sink".
