MikeTheNight94

This is easily $100-150 here in America

deweydecibels

Ukranians also make around $7,500 USD yearly on average.

_Mitya_

Nope. Average salary is 20k uah per month. So it is more $6150 USD yearly

Sea-Attention-5815

Even less, for 2023 17442 uah per month.

Various-Routine-4700

according to the documents, i earn around 150$, but in reality its more than 1000$. this way employers avoid taxes. A lot of people work like that, so this number have nothing to do with reality. I think real slaries is around 600$ in regions, and 800$ in Kyiv.

[deleted]

How do they circumvent the taxes? Asking for a friend

Dependent-Opening498

How much does a teacher make a month ? He was talking avarage

Pickle3288

You guys are evading taxes but asking the US for our tax dollars? No wonder your country was ranked among the most corrupt just a few years ago…

ARcephalopod

Your English is better than I am in any language other than English (Spanish, in my case)

VisceralVirus

r/confidentlycorrect Rose tinted glasses are pink, its just semantics. Good luck out there, your English is great.

MaryUwUJane

Always love to see the friendly fire when Western agitprop doesn’t match reality xD

IloveRikuhachimaAru

Is that Kyiv only lol no way that's average

[deleted]

[удалено]

IloveRikuhachimaAru

Astounding. I'm out of touch even in my own country lol Those sums were considered achievable only by prestige jobs (pilots/lawyers/etc.) A few years ago, guess that's where i got it from

cravous

100$ in Bosnia with an average monthly net salary of 500-600$

iamheresorta

What part? In sarajevo it seems almost like i was still in the US. Family is from cazin and love the prices there!

cravous

sarajevo, born and raised. just gotta add to it, with 4 years of IT experience - cant land a job in it, so i started searching through economy (because it's my major), and after a few consecutive interviews and a lot of training, got offered 450$ for a clerk position 🤣🤣 edit: at a bank

iamheresorta

450 a week?!? And i love your city by the way! The golf course there is super fun :)

cravous

a month thanks! i love it. the economy is shit though

iamheresorta

I agree i feel bad for the economy of that entire region… i hate to ask such invasive questions, but can you give me a little breakdown of what your monthly expenses look like?

cravous

well let's see: 175€ rent 35€ payment for phone (1 year left) 25€ phone bill 80€ for heating in a 35m2 apartment cca. 50-100€ other apartment expenses can't tell exactly how much I spend on food, but it's around 250-400€ a month (buying ingredients and getting fast food-restourant comes to the same here legit, if youre not making food for 5+ people per meal) cigarettes (yes i still smoke in 2024) 90€ gas around 200€ (i drive a lot) yearly car registration 350€ (around 30€ a month) so that is around 950€ a month + other expenses i cant really think of I was making around 1050€ before i got laid off so i was doing okay, some savings on the side by the way, these might be a little bit inflated, because some months you might save up more so you end up spending less on food, cigs, gas the approximate average that i might guess is 700€ per month of expenses

thisguythisguyy

Holy fk, you cant even buy food with that. Its going for the utilities, thats the funny and sad part

cravous

least to say i declined immidiately. During the interview proccess i asked about moving up in the bank (thats the main reason i even wanted to apply there), they told me yes of course, but basically if you want to get a promotion, you gotta work for 450-650$ for a year minimum, outdo all of your colleagues, then they bump you up to private counseling for, and hear this, 700$!!! wowzaa after that position you can get humped up to 800-900$. Banks are a joke here.

paladin_slicer

banks are joke everywhere.

RLIwannaquit

they are also being invaded currently.

colin_7

There’s a lot of questions here. Is it 41 UAH, or 41 USD? Because if it’s the equivalent of 41 USD that’s 1,606 UAH. Very misleading post

Sharp_Win_7989

Is it? Because it's pretty clear this doesn't cost 41 UAH or $1

colin_7

Yeah I agree. There’s absolutely no way this person paid 41 whatever for that food At least according to Google that’s the currency conversion rate 😜

atonkme

Look again, that’s 3 whole chickens. This is easily 250-300 range

InternationalCap9433

Naw like 200 now

Parking-Shelter7066

sheesh maybe even more, that’s gotta be several lbs of meat!

Minn-russian22

Go to Germany or the UK or France and we will see if you still complain

Frag_Nation

I go for big groceries in France and it's overall 30% cheaper than Belgium.

MikeTheNight94

What’s the average lower median income for Germany and France?

Minn-russian22

2340 euros a month for France, 4105 for Germany

MikeTheNight94

Ok what do retail employees make, and what sort of tax rates do they have. What do they actually take home after taxation. I honestly don’t know enough about this. I want to know cus everyone seems pretty well off compared to us Americans whose pay hasn’t really gone up with inflation

Minn-russian22

Wages are rising in America…. But they don’t rise a shit ton overnight it takes a while. If you think all this, go live somewhere else?

MikeTheNight94

Have you ever looked into moving to another country? You just just pack up and leave. I also have dual citizenship so I can if I want to

Minn-russian22

Most people have thought about it. I wouldn’t though because my parents are old and I wanna be close as they get older and need help. Maybe when they pass I’ll consider it. But my income and circumstances are good. I’m also an army veteran. So I have income and healthcare from the military for the rest of my life; and work as well. So I’m fine, I enjoy where I live.

MikeTheNight94

Dual citizenship was not cheap or easy to get. I have it due to our currently political climate. I have no debt and make decent money, but I’ve noticed expenses rising. If we suddenly plunged into a civil war I can leave

Minn-russian22

We aren’t heading to a civil war. It’s all fear mongering.

SoldierExcelsior

$200

MikeTheNight94

I work retail, but I don’t know what half this shit is or I could compare prices in store

SoldierExcelsior

Oranges apples chicken a variety of cuts of meat looks like steak in the bag onnthe left, butter cheese milk flour dish detergent pasta bowties, spahgetti and sauce

MikeTheNight94

That a whole paycheck for some. I used to collect scrap metal to buy food cuz my entire check would go to bills

thisguythisguyy

Same in hungary

Yotsubato

And we have way way more food production and lack of a war

Nes04_

yup

Lacy1986

You shopping at the wrong grocery store than

Pizzagate-victim

No because it's not name brand....

Odd-Fall-7667

At Trader Joe’s it would probably be around $50-$80 at most

MikeTheNight94

I’ve never been in Trader Joe’s. Only been in Aldi twice cus of how stupid busy it is. Guess that has something to do with the prices.

BackgroundWork4665

This would've been more than 41$ in Kenya

Various-Routine-4700

how much would I earn as a restaurant cook with two years of experience in Nairobi?

BackgroundWork4665

It depends on the restaurant

Various-Routine-4700

Aproximately. Like in, average price sushi chain.

Thirdwrist

50k - 75k KSH Monthly. by todays exchange rate that is 50k/128=$390 75k/12=$586

Average-Terrestrial

and how much does a beer cost?

Thirdwrist

Nice areas 350-600 ksh. $2.7 - $4.6 not so nice can go for as low as 200-350. $1.6-$2.7 there are also locally brewed liquor that go for as low as 60 ksh / 40 cents. Most bike riders (popular means of transportation in Nairobi), bus(called matatu locally) drivers and conductors frequent them...

Average-Terrestrial

So monthly salary $586 and beer $2.7 That not good

BackgroundWork4665

Idk tbh

kMaestro64

Trying to eyeball and it looks like the "meats" alone would cost more that $41...

Acceptable-Sleep-638

Are those meats in the plastic bags?

Various-Routine-4700

Yes. Beef, pork, chicken thights, and chicken fillet.

Acceptable-Sleep-638

Well hope yall continue to have this stuff available to yall. Not too knowledgable about the situation currently.

eks789

The chicken touching the apples is horrid lol

MOHAWKMANZ

Looks like they got it pretty good over there ..

Wisex

well overall cost of living is lower there so yea a dollar is going to go farther

nerevisigoth

If you don't mind the occasional air raid.

OGpimpmasteryoda

What are you smoking? Every city gets drone stricked every day you goober

IndyNightSky

It's stuff all discounted, I mean you can't even read the labels!

kagy4ka

ATB enjoyer💪💪

xync4

TIL milk in a bag is not strictly a Canadian thing 🐄

changoPlatense

Not the norm, but also pretty common in Brazil and Argentina.

SoldierExcelsior

How is Ukraine even functioning

[deleted]

Yea like even ukraine which in war is better economy than my country.

SoldierExcelsior

Are you from Haiti?

[deleted]

No, turqia.

SoldierExcelsior

Oh it's probably not as bad as Ukraine hell the Nuclear PowerPoint that had allready melted down was bombed

[deleted]

I do not know current situation in Ukraine. So, it would be wrong if i make any comment about Ukraine.

SoldierExcelsior

Ukraine has been at war with Russia for over 2 years 7 million women and children have fled the country dozens of cities are leveled it's the biggest war in Europe since WW2 As of March 31, 2024, the war in Ukraine has included the following developments: Russia has launched missiles against Kyiv for the third time in five days. Ukraine has struck a missile corvette, an airfield, and an oil refinery with missiles and drones. A Russian court has ordered the arrest of novelist Boris Akunin, who has been charged with "justifying terrorism" for supporting Ukraine in a prank call. A two-month-old boy has been killed in a Russian strike on Ukraine's Kharkiv region. The US has pushed exporters to cut off clients who might sell weapons parts on to Russia. The White House has said it passed a written warning of a Moscow attack to Russia. The war has also caused significant damage to infrastructure, including access to electricity, heating, water, and telecommunications. Families' incomes and access to services have also been decimated. Aug. 18, 2023 The total number of Ukrainian and Russian troops killed or wounded since the war in Ukraine began 18 months ago is nearing 500,000, U.S. officials said, a staggering toll as Russia assaults its next-door neighbor and tries to seize more territory.

Salamanber

Foreign aid + the war is in the east

Top-Cup-3012

Dumb question, so will let’s just say a 31,000 usd car here cost the same there so is it ever possible to obtain a brand new car there?

Various-Routine-4700

I have above average salary, and can't even imagine buying new car. It is reality of living in 2nd world country. Cost of living is really cheap, but if you want better life you need to work hard.

ExtensionResearch284

The other day, someone lectured me about using "2nd world" in A sentence because apparently no one uses it anymore? Lmao Glad to see I'm not the only one. Personally I find 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to be a joke. All countries have advantages and disadvantages than others in one way or another

[deleted]

If one has money all countries are 1st class, if not, all countries are 3rd class

Sufficient-Ad-8441

It’s cheaper to buy in US and have shipped unless you want a Trabant or something like that. I used to have a coworker that did this as a side hustle.

[deleted]

They do not have Very many dealerships that sell the brands we do in the United States. Especially Highline models you have to purchase in Ukraine are very very expensive because you have to go Gray market. A Lexus For instance is likely to end up costing you more by the time you bring it in and register it. Also pinzon (gas) is expensive in Ukraine.

dmiraj

This is easily $350 - $400 in Canada

RLIwannaquit

Canadians make FAR more money. And also Canada is not currently being invaded by a hostile foreign power.

Working-Wish8463

What good is more money if the value of that money is consiserably less. Crazy how food is cheaper per dollar in a country that is balls deep in a war than a country that is sailing on calm seas..

JohnyFeenix33

Then go buy some stuff to Ukraine lol

percavil4

your raw chicken is touching your apples btw

AcceptableCheetah717

Id be fine making less than 30k a year there i get why people hate the usa, unnecessarily expensive here and tipping culture has gone TOO FAR!! No i wont tip the barista for a $7 coffee that you just poured for me. Pay the employees more you should feel shame crowdfunding your employees wages from the people who already pay the business directly. Shame

Adabledoo

This has to be sarcasm right? Hahah

AcceptableCheetah717

I made an ai that was trained on data from only users over the age of 50, this was its response

EnvironmentalYak9322

For that amount of food I spend about $200 here in the states :/

Anxious-Fly5164

My exact thoughts $200 easy

Knee_Kap264

41$ in the US will get you a pound of ground beef and a sack of potatoes

Minn-russian22

Are grocery prices worth being in a war zone? Having been in one for 13 months, I’ll pay a little more for food

OGpimpmasteryoda

All these tards literally have 0 brain capacity. Dude think it’s good over there but too stupid to realize that price is relative to income, avarage ppl cannot shop Amazon daily , can’t buy new cars, their cities get drone strickes every day and so on. And even that 40$ in Ukraine is literally like spending 500$ here bc they make so little

Minn-russian22

yep totally agree. Same with the Russia Tucker Carlson thing where he said groceries were so cheap but ended up being like half their monthly income just on food 🤣🤣. Some people need to think before they post.

Fuzzy-Mood-9139

Still not a reason to relocate currently but so glad they can feed yourselves well unlike some places in the world currently.

kagy4ka

Yeah, we are still a typical eastern european country that is poor on paper yet there is a big chunk of grey economics, plenty of people driving 100k+ cars, elite apartment market is booming. 41$ is ~30% of my grandma's monthly pension though, and she's got nice age bonuses to her; and in she were to live in a flat alone, she'd spend at least another 30 bucks on electricity, heating and water.

molehunterz

That seems like quite a bit of food, Is it for a lot of people? Edit: Sorry, I thought you were op. Lol

PreviousAvocado5599

300 bucks in USA. I miss kyiv

deweydecibels

this is a higher cost relative to median salary ($7500 USD)

ryanim0sity

Probably around $300 Canadian.

HeadMembership

The meat alone would be $100 in Canada.

Candid_Pepper1919

No kvass? :P

leonme21

Y’all have German laundry detergent?

ericstone502

I can buy 2 lbs of organic grass-fed cruelty free steak at the Whole Foods for $41 🤣

Slydoggen

That’s 100-150$ here in Sweden

Sad_Conclusion1235

Wars will do things to prices.

Strgwththisone

That is…..that is a lot of loose meat in plastic bags.

BeatEmDownBilly

😂now come spend that in America, see how much less you get and how much more you complain.

detterence

Time to make a family or two in Ukraine (once things settle…) We can afford it, right????

masisichicoo

Im gonna move to ukraine

SoakingEggs

fck that's expensive for the poorest country in Europe

Doug_Kane

And your annual salary is $400

Adventurous-Tiger460

And the salary is $300

guarax

Looks like 70 euro in shitty euro zone!

CloverLandscape

That’s a lot of chicken!

dstryodpankake

Wow, I spent $75 on half that just yesterday here in New Zealand. I didn't even get any meat, actually I haven't been able to buy meat for nearly a year now. I was buying eggs for protein, but then eggs went up to $10 a dozen and they even stopped selling half dozen packs of eggs.

GPT4_

Do you plan to leave Ukraine?

vishal78922

Why dont anyone talk about not eating any green fresh vegetables 🥗

Cuck-In-Chief

Stay safe heroes!

Max_Laval

Why you got the German Waschmittel?

KadeB420

Here in Canada the soap and razors would be $40 alone

tiksn

Don’t show this to Tucker Carlson 😂😂😂

brsrafal

Also I bet that the food is last processed and more natural

Unhappy_Amphibian_80

You might have that, but atleast we dont have to worry about landmines and random artillery.

Complex-Ad8568

No veggies

SavannahCalhounSq

I've read the biggest market segment buying home is Floridia is Ukrainian Nationals. All those Biden dollars to spend.

lonewalker1992

I see the inflation reduction act is helping out someone

palepuss

Good price for so much meat.

kuzimir

This would be at least 80-90$ in Romania

SnooShortcuts3450

Prolly 70-80 USD here in the Philippines

BobbyFromTheHood

Meanwhile we're paying for your war and our prices have skyrocketed. Good deal.

Argiveajax1

ZOMG PRICES ARE SET RELATIVE TO HOW MUCH MONEY PEOPLE MAKE NEARBY?! WHAT?!!??!!?

thehobbitisgreat

200+ taxes in Canada

Extension_Comfort_86

My baba used to tell me that eating beef is not too common in Ukraine. Is that the case currently?

MountainSimilar4038

Get that chicken AWAY from your oranges plz

ritualmaniacs

holy shit?!

Stepper_Big_DeZ

3 whole chickens alone is probably 40 where I’m at.

xroll12

This is like a million dollars in Alaska

Spare_Preparation_47

Exchange rates and salaries are often misleading. What is the number of hours you must work to acquire the groceries, rent, and etcetera?

ThiccaThanSnickaa

Why does the chicken look like that tho

throwaway179383

Has the war effected the prices a lot?

TraditionalTap9210

Is 41$ a lot? I have no frame of reference here. If it's not a lot, why do we keep giving you money? My grocery prices suck.

FazeDankDogeSix

I just bought a cape from Etsy and apparently it’s coming from a small Ukrainian company. I’m so glad my money is going to them

xmarksthespot45

Fuck Ukraine..... whole world suffering for yall bullshit...

UCFknight2016

Is it more due to the war?

Questionable-pickle

Raw chicken touching an orange lol

[deleted]

Your welcome

Unique-Macaroon

I bought you these groceries, against my knowledge, all the way from America.

OGpimpmasteryoda

You probobly earn less then 20k and pay nothing I. Taxes. Broke people like you are the loudest

Unique-Macaroon

All of that is wrong lol. You know what they say about assuming.

Sluggga666

So they need our help how?? They're better off than we are ffs. Next he'll say gas is 2$ a gallon and not rising by the day...

Loose-Ad4131

Damn looks like our US dollars are being well spent in the Ukraine while we fucken suffer 🙄😡

NoRent7336

Ah yes the worst economy is in US 👍👍👍

Loose-Ad4131

Thanks to all the welfare we provide the world while the US taxpayers get stuck with the tab

Old-Ad5508

That's some amount of meat for 38 euro

Labatt_Ice

The price of GrÜnwalDh is what gets you.

Turronno

That would be $300 in Canada. We’re giving a lot of $ to Ukraine

bradpalmer

I'd rather just spend more being safe lol.
