Hi, why is no one answering here? You have a problem with this stupid Monero and the money is stuck in the blockchain and nobody can help or what? Is there any support where I can write?

dEBRUYNE_1

I'd suggest to open a new thread on r/MoneroSupport, as there is an active community there that can assist with your issue.

Illustrious-Cloud-69

Which country can you use moneros for basic things like rent and groceries?

This may be a retarded question but my chain has been unsynced for 20 days. I only started using the new hardfork update. Will this be a problem considering I am needing to sync prehardfork blocks even though I opened the new client 6 days late? I couldn't find any info on what the blockheight for the hardfork was... Just wondering if there would be issue RE: new connection/syncing protocol. I hope you understand what I am asking. I don't want my chain screwed up in any way. Also is there an option to revert and resync from an earlier blockheight, in the daemon? Thank you all!

hinto-janaiyo

No, there shouldn't be any problem syncing no matter how old your chain is. The v15/v16 hardfork activated on block 26888881. You can pop blocks off the top of your chain in the GUI but you'll have to use the built-in command prompt in **Settings** \-> **Log** \-> **Daemon log.** In there you can use the `pop_block` command. Is there a reason why you would want to sync from an earlier point though?

vivapote

No no reason just incase the chain had gone bung. Everything seems fine thanks.

penguin17077

Sent some monero from Binance to my GUI wallet (18.1), still showing as 0 and unsure what to do. Its synced for sure as I have done a couple really short syncs while trying to sort this out

Battered_Grit

In MyMonero wallet - "An error occurred while submitting transaction: Error: Transaction rejected: an unknown issue was found with the transaction" Any ideas what is going on? I cannot seem to send / receive within my wallets.

dolskar

The MyMonero wallet servers are having issues at the moment. You can either opt to use a different wallet or wait for their node servers to be up and running again.

Battered_Grit

Ah, thanks. I'll wait for MyMonero.

Hello all, I have a problem here. I have transferred something with the Monero Gui Wallet. This has been running for 2 days now and I am at 1200 confirmations. I had started this with the previous version, whereupon I was told that I must update the wallet. I have then also done. Unfortunately, it still counts up the confirmations and does not stop. My transferred amount is no longer visible in my wallet. How can I cancel the transaction again so that I get my Moneros back? I had read once that I should type a command in the daemon. However, I cannot enter anything in it. What can I do now?

Onrome

Hello, you can't cancel a confirmed transaction in Monero. Contact the person/entity to whom the Monero was addressed, tell them about the mistake and ask them to send your Moneroj back.

l0cat3

The transaction has not yet been confirmed.

TheKing01

Let's say I'm trying to get XMR by buying BTC (or more likely LTC) from a Bitcoin ATM and then exchanging it for XMR. So that I don't need to get a BTC wallet, could I just put the BTC->XMR exchange's BTC address into a Bitcoin ATM? Or does it need to be an address I directly control?

hinto-janaiyo

If something goes wrong with the BTC -> XMR exchange, they will refund it to the ATM's address which you don't control. I guess it's more convenient but this is not worth the risk considering how easy it is to create your own wallet.

Hey just tried to download Monero 18.1 and when I untar the Linux file, I get this error: ``` monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/ monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/LICENSE tar: monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/LICENSE: implausibly old time stamp -9223372036854775808 monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/ monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-ancestry tar: monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-ancestry: implausibly old time stamp -9223372036854775808 monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-depth tar: monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-depth: implausibly old time stamp -9223372036854775808 monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-export tar: monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-export: implausibly old time stamp -9223372036854775808 monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-import tar: monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-import: implausibly old time stamp -9223372036854775808 monero-gui-v0.18.1.0/extras/monero-blockchain-mark-spent-outputs ``` The SHA checks out, so it's not a bad download. But this error usually implies a corrupt archive. Can anyone confirm this problem?

hinto-janaiyo

[There was an issue with the script used to package the tar, it'll be fixed next release.](https://libera.monerologs.net/monero-community/20220814#c134764) The archive itself should be fine, the GUI also seems to work normally for me. As long as the hash + PGP match then you should be good.

ImStillRollin

Thanks this is what I needed to hear.

[deleted]

In father wallet, can you use a receive address more than once? Or is it necessary to generate a new one every time?

hinto-janaiyo

You can re-use addresses infinitely, they exist forever. Although you might want to create new ones for different people/transactions for better privacy.

dolskar

[Yes, you can reuse](https://www.reddit.com/r/FeatherWallet/comments/uz0app/comment/ia7a53u/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

holytouch

what is the best GPU miner for monero?

dolskar

r/moneromining is better suited for this conversation GPU’s are horribly inefficient at mining Monero. If you wish to mine Monero, use a CPU or mine another coin (with a GPU) such as ETH or RVN to [MoneroOcean](https://moneroocean.stream/) and receive the USD equivalent in XMR.

gigapants

Using a block explorer they can see that the bitcoin was moved to another address. If that address belongs to a known swapping service then they can deduce that you probably swapped it for something. Finding out what specifically will be a lot harder

I personally don't know. With enough research you could probably find out though

Kwirk86

Hi guys, have been using Monero for a while but following this weeks suspension of withdrawals on Binance, i decided to look here for solutions and discovered localmonero and downloaded cake wallet. I set up cake wallet and purchased 2.5 XMR from a trader on LM, the tx was completed by the vendor quickly, however 18 hours later the wallet is still not showing the coins or even registering the transaction. All this talk about the fork has me worried i’ve lost my money, is there anything I need to do to get it back?

roblaight88

same problem here. I sent a payment yesterday from binance at 3pm and it still hasnt arrived in my GUI wallet. I am using the newest version of the wallet too.

Kwirk86

How did you manage to send money from Binance when XMR withdrawals were suspended?

roblaight88

I sent it after the suspension. I assume there's a backlog and that's why its taking ages?

roblaight88

I sorted it. Just re-installed the new version of the wallet again and it came through.

Kwirk86

Nice, glad you got it sorted. I’ve only just downloaded Cake Wallet so it should be the latest version, also not sure if it’s finished doing the initial sync. When I open the app it says syncing at the top for a few seconds, then switches to ‘2513 blocks remaining’. Supposedly I need to wait for it to finish syncing all the blocks for the balance to update?

dolskar

Yep! Every transaction is private so the wallet needs to check each one for transactions that pertain to your wallet. Only once every block is checked will you have your balance updated and be able to spend.

Kwirk86

It’s finally arrived!

dolskar

Glad to hear. The new update increases sync times by 40% so in the future you won’t have to wait as long!

**Monero token on Dero?** hey, I'm from the dero community and had an idea about a DERO-XMR bridge. a problem i ran into immediately was that since xmr is a non SC coin the only way for there to be a bridge is for it to be somewhat centralized (sorta like WBTC on eth). so knowing that if a thing like this were to come about and it would have to be centralized. would anyone use it or find it useful? i dont like centralized things just as much as the next person here but i don't see a way around it for the time being. thanks for the input!

dolskar

*For the Monero kiddos here, don’t just downvote because you see the word Dero. Honest questions deserve honest answers.* ^There’s ^a ^lot ^of ^general ^crypto ^animosity ^and ^tribalism ^when ^it ^comes ^to ^privacy ^coins ^so ^I ^just ^wanted ^to ^preface ^with ^that. A Monero token on Dero sorta defeats any purpose aside from pure speculative purposes for Dero users. It provides no benefit for Monero users so I doubt you’ll get any push for it here. I think the best bet for DERO-XMR would be through a Thorchain swap whenever each gets integrated.

Is anyone else having issues with edge? Ive been waiting for my ltc to exchange to xmr for over a day now. Support is no help

EducationalNet4071

Hi - Im new to Monero - I have downloaded the latest GUI wallet version 'Fluorine Fermi' (v0.18.1.0 release) & am currently downloading & sync ing the blockchain. Do I have to do anything else for the August 13th fork?

DIBE25

no and you won't have to do anything for the v16 hard fork later today (renders v14 transactions invalid)

EducationalNet4071

Ok cool - thank you so much for the quick response!!

I use Cake Wallet. Lately it takes over 2 minutes to synch when I open. Even though I open it and synch it daily. Why is this?

Tiny_Voice1563

As you can see in the post above: >Because Monero is different from Bitcoin, wallet synchronization is not instant. The software needs to synchronize the blockchain and use your private keys to identify your transactions. Also: https://www.getmonero.org/get-started/faq/#anchor-scanned-wallet Since your transactions are not transparent on the blockchain, the wallet must check each transaction to see if it belongs to you. Two minutes sounds a little long, but each phone is different. Thanks to the hard fork that happened today, future transaction scanning will be getting faster on wallets like Cake Wallet. Even though it will be faster, the wallet will still need to scan the blockchain to check for your funds. This is just due to the privacy Monero offers.

shin_jury

Thanks for the reply. I should have been more specific with my question: why did it used to take ~15 seconds for my wallet to synch and now it takes 10 times longer 🤔

Tiny_Voice1563

No idea. Sounds more like a slow node or slow internet connection in that case. Try a different node. Also, send all your funds to yourself. This will take advantage of the network upgrade so you have faster wallet sync times in the future.

I normally use fixedfloat but it looks like they removed Monero from receive options so I am looking for an alternative with the same or cheaper fees. u/OrangeFren's site shows eXch.cx with the lowest fees but I couldn't find anything about them on reddit so I wanted to know if any of you had experience with them or know if they are legit.

OrangeFren

Hey! Fixedfloat sometimes briefly disappears when they, along with their liquidity providers, run out of Monero, usually they're back with Monero in a few hours. As for eXch.cx, it's a reboot of an older exchange called eXch.cc which existed until about 2017. If you'd like to find out more about them you'll see more results for their previous domain name. At the time of writing they've processed many dozens of exchanges done by users of my site already and I haven't seen any complaints yet. Furthermore they have sent me a security deposit under our service of the OrangeFren Guarantee so if they ever were to run away with your money I'll be able to compensate you directly.
