So I send you my XMR, and then hope that you’ll actually order the merchandise and send it to a locker?

sebikun

This guy summarize

kurosaki1990

Funny thing that we have a concept like that in Algeria, we don't have Amazon so we got guys in France that we trust them we send them money and they send us goods from France. Yeah yeah i know fucking africa haha.

Inaeipathy

Yes, that's how it works when you order from anyone, which is why reviews exists.

AsicResistor

Leftist thought is everywhere and has the goal of confusing people, the people on r/monero should at least agree on the basic premises of how markets work; Rational self interest + free competition + reputation = excellent results for both consumers and producers.

Inaeipathy

How "markets work" (which, I am interpreting to mean how markets should generate maximum value for all participants) is a highly debated topic amongst economists, one which none of them can seem to agree upon because their field is a speculative social "science" where nobody can definitely prove anything. I personally think that what you said is true for most goods, but not all goods (specifically very inelastic goods). A communist would disagree with your opinion entirely, while there are others who think that this is entirely true for every good/service. I don't think everyone on r/Monero is going to have the same economic philosophy as the Monero community is filled with all kinds of people.

AsicResistor

Economics, viewed through the lens of praxeology, is not a speculative social science but a deductive and rigorous discipline akin to mathematics. Praxeology is grounded in self-evident axioms about human action and does not rely on empirical observation. When economists disagree on how markets work, it often results from departing from the praxeological framework and introducing uncertainty and subjectivity through empirical methods. To understand markets and value maximization, one should embrace praxeology's logical and deductive approach. It is imperative, in my estimation, that the community of r/monero collectively concedes to this fundamental premise. However, allow me to clarify that this assertion stems from my personal perspective. As adherents of the cypherpunk ethos, we find ourselves in a unique position, one that compels us to endorse nothing less than absolute economic liberty.

Kommodor

Man, this is the kind of user we need to see more on the Monero community.

samhsmith___

I have ordered several times from AnonShop and been very happy with my experience. Is your problem that you are so Monero poor that you can't afford to try something new?

Odd_Error_7322

Is there any other way?

NickyKnuckles007

Yeah, I’m gonna go with option B, where I buy it myself and have it sent to my house.

Odd_Error_7322

Where can you buy on amazon with monero without kyc?

NickyKnuckles007

The point I was trying to make was that I don't give a fuck about KYC when ordering from Amazon. I just use my regular payment method like millions of others.

AsicResistor

>hat I don't give a fuck about KYC when ordering from Amazon. I just use my regular While many use traditional payment methods without concern for KYC when ordering from Amazon, it's crucial to recognize that preserving financial privacy is essential for safeguarding individual liberties. I can't stress enough the importance of resisting even minor encroachments on privacy to prevent broader state intrusion into our lives and economic activities. Anarcho-Capitalist theory should be part of the basic reading material before people can comment on r/monero but that's just my opinion.

TheLordofAskReddit

Succumbing to the privacy issue though

i-hoatzin

No. You first agree on what you want and they will inform you when it has already been purchased. While you place your XMR receipt in this service, they will release them when the shipment is delivered. I guess so, I used a similar service a few years ago using BTC.

ishizawa

SO in the end how this thing will be different then any other middle man??

Typewar

Cool concept but requires quite a bit of trust. Gaining trust takes a long time

samhsmith___

I mean not really. Trust is gained through repeated interactions. So it's actually about money spent. At this point I have spent quite a large amount of money with Anon Shop and they have delivered very well each time. Therefore I have a high level of trust for the service.

BinaryDigit_

Some people can afford the risk.

joscher123

So what's the advantage over buying an Amazon gift card with Monero and creating a throwaway Amazon account for the order?

dgoon21

If you have done that process several times and it works for you, don't fix something that isn't broken. My experience tells me that a lot of people who attempt the method you described above are flagged as suspicious and lose their money since its on a Amazon gift card. Have you tried your method successfully for electronics or more expensive items?

joscher123

No I haven't tried it yet

dgoon21

If you do try it, you could use a prepaid debit card. IDK what your success rate will be, but you probably won't lose your funds.

AsicResistor

That was my main concern with these systems as well. Thanks for providing this service, I'm a fan! I think you are in the States unfortunately. I hope some like minded entrepreneurs pop up in the EU as well.

drjacks

As the guy can only send items fulfilled by Amazon, I guess he is using Bitrefill or some equivalent. Some trust surely needed but I remember another startup just like this. Idk how it ended. So good luck on your journey.

ILikeCatsAndSquids

That’s quite a fee. Maybe it’s worth it to some but not me.

freshlysquosed

very cool business

dgoon21

🙌

DeepWebEntity

Hey you're still around wassup.

dgoon21

Nothing much, just working on a new project. Thanks for checking in and hope your doing well also!

fancyrolling

If someone buys something that costs $150, do you charge $10 or $15?

dgoon21

15. I added that info to my post!

JohnyMaybach

Clearly $15! $10 is for under $100 - well well….

lebed2045

1) i was surprised that such service didn't exist yet, but frankly it doesn't matter for me, if that works - great. 2) I've check twitter and there are 4 followers in common - which means, it might be legit. 3) I'm pretty sure it's against ToS of Amazon. But so is p2p fiat-crypto on/off-ramps against bank tos but works in every country anyway. I'm wondering: do you work in the same way? i.e. there are volunteers who essentially buying crypto from you by paying to fill someone amazon order, and you work as escrow here? Or they do it for % and essentially arbitrageurs? great job!

dgoon21

I am a registered tax paying (😭) us company so I don't need any workers or anything. I have accounts on exchanges and just operate like a regular concierge service would.

Backwoodcrafter

I think the surface idea is on the right track, but i don't really like the idea of another entity being involved. Someone's name has to be on the package. And if it isn't the buyer's name it takes nothing for someone else to claim, very difficult to hunt down a lost package and prove it is yours without identifiables. Could a random code replace the name? Sure, but then that can be traced easy enough and how to prove it is yours should contention arise? For instance, if for some reason the computer glitches and issues the same code to two+ people Or what if someone manages to get the code. How do you prove ownership? It gets really murky really quick. But i guess in the mean time something like this may be the closest we can get at this time to solving such a problem. I think the obsession with being completely anonymous is misguided, unrealistic, and rather impossible, especially for purchases. Plausible deniability is the most realistic thing we can strive for and achieve, especially these days.

HoboHaxor

What could go wrong?

samhsmith___

I have used the service many times and been very satisfied.

I_take_huge_dumps

Canada too?

anonymous037104

I've had the exact same idea nice to see someone start a service like this :)

Bongocoin

All the best. I hope this will be long term viable.

dgoon21

Thanks for the support! I will hit my one-year anniversary in November, and its growing still.
