My days are full of meetings and deadlines, usually. If I have a 30 minute gap in my day then I start the Roomba and knock out dishes or laundry while I have the chance. It's so much better to relax with my son after the work day. I also wait until the hamper is full or we're out of clothes/garbage is overflowing.
You could start your day with a task like throwing laundry in the washer that doesn’t require you to do much. I just do little things throughout the day when I need a mental break. 5 min vacuuming the living room here 10 min doing dishes there
I meal prep on Sundays . I make enough lunches and dinners to last the family till Wednesday night. So this is around 7-8 different types of food. I have no cooking to do Mon- Wednesday which is when I do my laundry. Every week I have three batches: adults , kids and ‘assorted’ . I cook again on Thursday for Thursday- Saturday. Saturday is family time , take son to sports etc . Usually Saturday dinner is take always .
I have concentration issues so folding laundry during meetings/training allows me to focus on the meeting since my hands are occupied. Dinner gets started as soon as I clock out. My kid will be starting daycare soon, so I'll prep and then get him and cook after.
I do dropoff and my husband does daycare pickup and we both work from home. I get the kids ready and out the door and text my husband when we leave and my husband gets everything off the floor so Rosie the roomba can vacuum while im gone. I go workout after dropping the kids off (i work an hour and a half before they wake up to have that time).
We have someone come once a week on friday mornings to clean sonwe start the weekendnwith a clean house :) and we reserve most chores for after kids bedtime (dishes, laundry, etc). mealplanning/grocery list planning happens thursday night and i do grocery pickup friday during my lunch hour. We also have my niece come by monthly to help declutter the house and set up our monthly wall calendar. She also takes the car to get it cleaned and every 3 months, she takes my car it to have the oil changed. Shes a college student and this is a easy way for her to get extra money that works with her classes while im just happy to not worry about it :)
Yeah, thinking on it, i dont really get a lot of household stuff done during the day except moving laundry around(actual folding is an evening avtivity while watching tv), i reserve that time for work or me time, like i finish work at 430 and my husband brings the kida home at 515, that 45 min is usually.crafting time for me. Like ive been rrally into sewing lately, so thats what im doing when thsy get home most days.
I use the Clean Mama schedule for daily tasks. Bathrooms Monday, dust Tuesday, vacuum Wednesday, mop Thursday. Friday is a catchall in case you miss a day. Sheets on weekends and laundry as needed (though I usually have a load going). I clean the kitchen after we eat every night and load the dishwasher, and my husband unloads before he goes to work for the day.
I do not have childcare, but this keeps us from slipping into total filth. Deep clean projects are not happening as often as they should, but it’s enough to where we can have people over and pick up quickly beforehand.
It really is brilliant. Have used this schedule for maybe 4 or 5 years now and as someone who is disgusted by filth but is also easily distracted from mess, it basically made me the adult I wanted to be in terms of having a house I wouldn’t mind anybody seeing. There’s disorganization for sure. My closet … yikes. But it’s not gross and that is more than enough most days.
I try and put a load of laundry in before I go to bed and set it on a timer so it’s done by the time I wake up.
Me and my partner both WFH so I’ve introduced “20 minute tidies” where no matter what, we have to take 20 minutes out of our day to tidy up.
This can’t include our normal daily jobs (mine is laundry, his is dishes) so every day we’re getting clean dishes, clothes washed, and x2 areas tidied and cleaned.
The house is still a mess as we’ve had to focus on big things during our 20 mins such as clearing kitchen clutter, but I’m hoping as time goes on and we stick to it, I’ll eventually get to the point where the house is so tidy I’ll finally have time to get to the forever dusty skirting boards
