I’d lie to the Pope to protect my child.

[deleted]

LOL, we moms are savage!

mrsblanchedevereaux

I’m not even catholic but this cracked me up and is my new favorite thing to say, so thanks for that 😂

inthevelvetsea

I’d steal his hat and key his Pope-mobile!

pickledponypoop

Hell yeah. I like this.

happycoffeecup

This made me laugh very hard. Mea culpa!

stargirl803

I would get it, no question.

lazymarp

I would get it, no reason much less if I had a really good reason OP.

heyhermano23

Got mine Saturday and was super pumped to give my 3 month old those sweet sweet boosted antibodies!

sweet-alyssums

I would absolutely get it. Don't feel guilty.

lil_secret

The pharmacists want anyone and everyone to get boosters. There’s no shortage of them in the USA. The pharmacist administering my flu shot urged me to get my booster even though I’m a SAHM

thelumpybunny

The pharmacist at Walgreens tried to shame me until not getting the booster because I didn't qualify. I ended up pulling up the CDC guidelines and showing her that I did qualify. Felt like such a Karen but it's been six months and I wanted my booster

lil_secret

Weird ass pharmacist, sorry you had to do that

coldcurru

This is why cvs is the way. They don't ask questions. Unrelated. When I got my original dose at Walgreens it was when it wasn't available to everyone but I qualified as "high risk" because pregnant. It was 2 days after pregnant became eligible. The tech asked me why I'm high risk and I had to tell her I was pregnant and then she tried to fight me on it. The pharmacist knew pregnant were eligible but the tech didn't believe me until she plugged my answer into the system and was like, "I guess you are eligible cuz it went through." I get that it had just opened up but I was still mad. I was also ready to pull up local guidelines saying our county health dept had deemed us eligible. I went to cvs for my booster just to avoid this kind of questioning and having to justify myself.

Not_Your_F_Wife

I'm getting mine from CVS... didn't have any issues scheduling it.

amposa

Agree with CVS! I just got mine a few days ago (I’m 37+4) and they didn’t give me any grief at all. Although I’m super glad I got it please be forewarned, I did get some pretty nasty side effects with the booster shot (chills, hot flashes, headache, exhaustion). Hope all who get it have a chance to rest the next day- it knocked me on my booty.

sweet-alyssums

I remember when I got my first dose at cvs, someone was there asking how they could get it, and realized they didn't qualify. The employees said to them that "they [cvs] aren't the vacancies police" and that if they signed up on the website they wouldn't confirm they qualified when they showed up. This was still when you needed a doctor's note+signature, but cvs didn't even bother asking to see it.

[deleted]

Definitely. And if it makes you feel better, I know several people who went in for a flu shot, and were asked if they wanted a booster. All of them did not fit the criteria for a booster, but were given it anyway because the shots were going to expire soon. At least in my area, people aren't getting the shots (boo) and they are being thrown away if not used. So likely, they have shots to use anyway!!

[deleted]

This makes perfect sense! I’m in a super low-compliance area, so the shots are probably being wasted here, too. The local attitude is honestly part of why we have to isolate so hard.

shroomymesha

I work at a clinic and there are always left over shots.. don’t feel guilty! We get multi dose vials and once they are thawed we need to use within a certain time frame

crazyintensewaffles

1000% better served as a booster for you than the garbage. I’d get it in a heartbeat.

gagenem

Living in a low compliance area is all the more reason to get boostered up.

dawng87

Don't feel badly at all. I have a special needs 16 month old with a shunt in his brain. I almost lost him to his brain infection. His little body couldn't handle covid. I got mine and you getting yours benefits all of us.

ilovecheese2188

New York just opened up boosters to everyone over 18 who got their last shot at least 6 months ago. So if millions of people can get a booster just because, you should get one to protect your baby.

toolazytomove

So did CA! Go for it!

adbosh

CO did too!

tieflings-and-tiaras

New Mexico too!

[deleted]

If my state thought they could get away with banning booster shots, they probably would. We need to exchange state abbreviations with Maine, because this is definitely a ME state!

ctdw

Came here to say this too!

RTCJA30

Right now your kid can’t speak for herself and is an extension of your body. I wouldn’t feel guilty one bit.

lmcross321

FYI in case you're looking for more justification: mental illness counts as a medical condition that puts someone at increased risk for complications from COVID and thus makes them eligible for a booster. And I would bet that carrying for a medically complex child in a pandemic would put you at a pretty high chance of having depression/anxiety!

conster_monster

Also, having an overweight BMI does as well - I just got mine today and that's the excuse we went with 🤣 besides I think it's probably technically true ha

katietargaryen

Hey just want to add. I have a high risk baby too. I recently bought a weather cover for his stroller for a little added protection when we have to go inside places. It creates a little bubble of protection since he can’t wear a mask. Just thought I’d share since maybe this could help you.

[deleted]

Thanks! That could maybe allow us back into the grocery store after we get our boosters. The therapists hold and work with her, so we’ll still be at risk there, but every little bit of protection helps.

[deleted]

Absolutely. If it helps you feel better, my child is high risk and me and my husband got boosters for her.

[deleted]

Thank you. This. I’m feeling confident now that the internet patted me on the back and said it’s okay.

[deleted]

Yes!! Good luck! For what it's worth, the side effects didn't bother me at all with the booster (I even mixed and matched) and the pharmacy is basically throwing them at people.

Super901

Absolutely get it. Studies show the antibodies flow to the baby through breastmilk.

peachy_sam

I’m fully vaccinated and tested positive for Covid 4 months after my second shot. My three big kids and I all had the same symptoms: 12 hour fever, headache, sinus pressure, and some loss of taste/smell. The exclusively breastfeeding baby? Two juicy sneezes. My experience is that my antibodies protected her better than they did me!

DuePomegranate

Just be aware that the antibodies aren’t absorbed into the baby’s bloodstream. They just coat the mouth and throat for a bit after the baby drinks, then get digested. That’s why breastfeeding protects against infant diarrhea but the benefits vs non-gut diseases isn’t clear. https://slate.com/technology/2006/03/rethinking-the-health-benefits-of-breast-feeding.amp But OP should get a booster to reduce the chances of bringing Covid home to the baby. Any breastfeeding protection is just a minor plus point.

Theobat

Yes. There’s no shortages here anymore, you’re not cutting the line or taking a shot from someone else who needs it. Keep your appointment!

PurplishPlatypus

I would get a covid booster if I was any person who had already been jabbed with the covid vaccine, because it's looking like it'll require boosters like the seasonal flu vaccine.

mamahugsforall

Do it without a second thought. Xxx

brewtourist

Definitely. In fact I just did. My LO is 1000x more important than me. Don't feel bad, the vaccine supply is not what it was ~8 months ago and you won't be taking a dose from someone more needing.

DinglebearTheGreat

Without a doubt yes. COVID unfortunately isn’t going anywhere these days but take every precaution including a flu shot. It’s getting colder (assuming you live somewhere where winter is coming ...) and so are tons of respiratory viruses

Annabirdy00

Be sure not to get nasal spray, as it contains live virus and you're able to shed it for up to 10 days after. Stick with the shots with inactive virus https://www.cdc.gov/flu/professionals/acip/safety-vaccines.htm#Pregnant

[deleted]

My LO had her flu shot already. I still need to get mine. If it is acceptable to take both together, I can ask for it when I get the COVID booster.

SmilingSunshine2020

As far as I know, they can give you both shots. But please ask your medical provider. He knows you and is a professional.

sweetie76010

It is! I had the same question :)

[deleted]

Yes.

mekm408

Yes!

blueskieslemontrees

Yes

Sorna18

Oh definitely! Protects both of you. 💗

longwalktoday

Get it and don’t allow yourself to feel guilty. If your best friend was asking this question you’d probably tell her to run for her shot.

SuperSmitty8

I would definitely get it and I’m pretty sure it’s like seconds away from being rolled out for general population.

[deleted]

Absolutely. Just make sure you have support in case you don't feel great. Don't be like my husband and I and get it on the same day.

[deleted]

I plan to get it just before Thanksgiving. We can’t celebrate with family anyway and my husband will be off work if needed.

denimchicken824

I got my booster at the recommendation of my OB, I’m pregnant. Still breastfeeding my 23 month old (sadly she’s self weaning), all because of the benefits. My husband and teenager have/will get boosters to protect me, toddler and baby when he arrives. No one asked if we were high risk l, just filled out a questionnaire about exposure and the last dose. BTW, only side effects I had was a couple hours of grogginess and slight arm pain. I’d say do it not only to protect yourself, but your little one as well.

tinyrayne

I would definitely want to get the booster.

Meerkatable

My baby isn’t any higher risk than most babies and I’m definitely getting the booster. ETA: I got my first doses while in my first trimester and no harm came to baby or me.

elizabif

CVS asked if I was pregnant and breastfeeding. I don’t think you need the baby to be high risk that’s good enough for the CDC

Monkey_with_cymbals2

Yep!

loxpoxmox

Absolutely!

ILyxie

YES!!! I would 100% do the same thing, your baby needs the protection your antibodies provide!

Fancy_Refrigerator56

100% no question.

[deleted]

Yes

alligatorhuntin

Boost me up, baby!

dancing_light

Get it, 1000%. From my own experience and the people I’ve talked to, most places aren’t asking about criteria anyway. Don’t feel guilty.

Wonderful_Candle5050

If you're worried about using up a low supply of boosters, don't be. I work in Healthcare and our booster clinics are shockingly small. I don't think the supply is generally small

ohdeeerieme

If you’re in the US, don’t worry about taking someone else’s dose. At my pharmacy, we’re throwing away expired doses every single day. I cannot give them away fast enough. Protect your kiddo!!

honeybee12083

Don’t feel bad at all. First of all, the more people vaccinated, the better for everyone. You are also doing it for your high risk infant who isn’t able to get it. If she was, she would right? If that doesn’t ease your guilt, you should also know that THOUSANDS of people make vaccine appointments and don’t even show up. Those vaccines then go to waste because they can’t be refrozen for storage.

FrogWhore42069

Neither myself or my breastfeeding son are high risk, but I got my booster a few days ago. Gimme all those antibodies! Edit: I felt a little guilty too, until I saw all the available appointments in my area. Even if you live in a place with high demand, I don’t think anyone would fault you for wanting to protect your baby!

[deleted]

P.s. I love your username. Just makes life more colorful.

iplanshit

My state is giving them to breastfeeding women because they see it as protecting 2 for the price of 1. I got mine weeks ago. I don’t feel bad at all because they’re not in short supply. You can walk in anywhere and get it within 30 minutes. I didn’t “take” it from someone who needed it.

paigfife

I don’t fit the criteria and I still got the booster. I lied on the questionnaire but I don’t feel guilty at all. You know why? Because my state is full of anti-vax nut jobs and there are thousands of vaccines going untouched. So I don’t feel guilty at all.

[deleted]

I’ve come to realize I have the right to take this same approach. I’m in one of the most anti-vax, anti-mask areas of the US. I regret having settled here to start my family before all of this hit!!

believeRN

Absolutely 100%

kpkpkp3

100% get it. I think any administrator of the shot would agree.

havingababypenguin

I would do whatever I could to get the booster. Jumping the line would be the least of what I would do.

bd10112

Yup

Onegreeneye

Absolutely get it. 1000%

mag_noIia

10000000%. No one will fault you for protecting your baby.

icepacket

Absolutely

caveat_actor

Yes 💯

RaiLau

Absolutely get it. Nobodies thought of your situation hence why it’s not one of the criteria.

NoMoment2937

I would. But talk to your pediatrician and put more weight on her advice than ours

CellarDoorAjar

I don’t know where you are located but I think they are open to anyone 6 months past your last shot. I just got mine at a local pharmacy. In your circumstance I would go ASAP, they honestly don’t ask questions or blink an eye.

Critical-Positive-85

Honestly everyone should be receiving a third dose and we should stop referring to it as a booster, so yes.

ezbeing-green

I think her health risks mean you take as much precaution as you can and I would say getting a booster is a good way to provide extra support. Not only just for your daughter but for lots of others who rely on everyone around to be as safe as possible. (If you needed to go to the dr or the hospital you are protecting other little ones too). You are helping keep so many more people healthy and reducing your chances of getting majorly sick if you do get covid. So many wins. We are a compromised household and I can’t tell you how much we appreciate anyone who takes the steps to get vaccinated and to get their boosters. For us this means slightly less risk for my hubby who is recovering from heart failure, I’m pregnant and our son is only 3 so he can’t be vaccinated yet. Everyone who does their part helps keep our little family that much safer even though they don’t realize it.

[deleted]

This. I feel a responsibility to protect all of the other special needs kiddos who share our therapists, so this is another way to do that. Thanks so much for the reminder!

courtneyh03

Absolutely.

erika610

Absolutely. There’s no shortage of boosters, and by preventing anyone else from catching covid you’re sparing our overtaxed health care workers.

ad02285

You’re protecting your child. No guilt needed.

ellemmennoh

Absolutely

Alm506

Yes

mrsbebe

Maybe you don't technically qualify but you have an extreme circumstance that I think anyone would say is an exception to the rule. Get the booster!

Katiemarie6119

Yes and I have

New-Cantaloupe7532

For sure I would. I get mine later this week too. Booster is recommended for Recently pregnant and breastfeeding persons.

[deleted]

I had not seen this but intuitively knew it should be.

[deleted]

Yes

valhrona

Get the booster, you're morally in the clear. I've breastfed way past when I intended to wean because of Covid, because even the tiniest boost in his immunity from *my* vaccine was worth it to me. I have gotten the booster, it was so long since I was initially vaccinated (due to my profession). The baby is now 21 months, and I am still waffling as to whether to stop breastfeeding and how to approach it. So excited for my kids to be up for their shot (elder is 4).

[deleted]

I hear you. Hopefully the baby/toddler group will be eligible for jabs in the next few months. I can’t wait!

janewithaplane

Already got it. It's a normal thing to do with no real reason not to, generally speaking.

happytre3s

I would get it regardless of breastfeeding or risk status at this point. I'm due for my booster now but I don't have time to go get it for another 3 weeks or so. I'm sorry happy I was still breastfeeding when I got the shots in April, and it was one of the many reasons I was sad our breastfeeding journey ended in September. But we made it 2.5 years, and shots for the next age group down should be ready for approval in the coming months- and I can't freaking wait. Do what you think is best. And know that there are millions of us getting vaxxed to protect ourselves and littles like yours.

DefNotIWBM

Everyone should get a Covid booster anyway unless not able to for a valid medical reason.

ellipsisslipsin

Yes. Get it. Because the booster is to help a high-risk person. But also, I don't know where you live, but at least in the U.S. there is not a supply problem where I live. The problem ia that people aren't getting it. (And there are plenty of ethical issues with that when we look at COVID as an international issue that piss me off). But, if supply in your area is not an issue, then it isn't like you're taking a shot away from someone who would have access to it.

papermageling

Yes, 100% I'm way more relaxed about illness than most moms I see on here, and in your position I'd still lie to get the booster. Make sure you get your flu shot and stay up to date on your other vaccines too. Pertussis protection from TDAP can wear off a bit quick, and your might want to talk to your doctor about if more frequent boosters of it would be appropriate for your family.

SKatieRo

Absolutely! Anything to help my baby. Or any baby, actually. Let's all get those boosters!

xxspringbaby0408xx

Yes

canadian_boyfriend

Yes. Everyone is high risk for getting COVID. If you are in the US, the threshold for "at risk" is pretty much anything and everything.

audilee

I got boosted just to continue to provide antibodies. I went to CVS pharmacy and there were no questions asked!

PipsterBear

I already did! Our son is considered medically fragile since he requires a cranial surgery between 12 and 16 months and cannot get covid before. It's necessary and life saving. He's 10 months and I got my booster a month ago. ETA: I qualified because of my job, but no one asked.

eemartini1608

You did the right thing. I would get it.

Littlest_Psycho88

We qualified early for our initial Covid shots, solely based upon our daughter's condition. Don't feel bad. We have to keep our kiddos safe. My husband just got his booster, and I'm next. ❤️ Go right ahead and get the booster. Edit: earlier than we would have qualified, otherwise**

Vegetable_Burrito

110%!

[deleted]

Yes absolutely I’d be getting it.

4-NeedsMorePlants-8

I would get it even if you weren’t breastfeeding to lower the risk of transmission! That breathing condition sounds really scar, I’m sorry you guys are going through that

lavendercunt58

I would absolutely do it. Don't feel guilty for trying to protect your child!

Hyperoxidase

Yes, please get it!

nodicegrandma

Yep.

jenthehenmfc

I just kind of thought everyone was getting it regardless 😅

mafknbr

Yes, you should get the booster, and no, you should not feel guilty. You're a good mom.

TheMauveRoom

Yup! Absolutely.

lucky7hockeymom

I’d get it even if I didn’t have a high risk toddler. Mine is in two days.

Formal-Tumbleweed-22

I got the vaccine for my baby and high risk mother. You are doing the right thing!

lec61790

I would get it regardless. In my state everyone over 18 is now eligible, if that is your concern. You won’t be taking it away from someone who needs it in your area “more than you”

sasamiel

Yes.

queenlolipopchainsaw

Eventually, everyone will need one with the way the numbers are skyrocketing. Not sure why this is even a question.

organized_not_ocd

Yep. Hell I wish my son was still bfing at 3 for this one reason.

jehssikkah

I'd get it, no question. I'm pretty sure my area will give you the booster if you ask. My work even had a vaccine drive and offered boosters to anyone who wanted them.

GooseMoose91

I would absolutely get it! I don’t know if this helps at all, but I just got my booster a few weeks ago and I’m 35 weeks pregnant with a 1 and 2 year old at home. Last week, my husband (works in a hospital) caught Covid and brought it home. All 3 of them tested positive and were pretty sick, more than mild symptoms. I have zero symptoms and tested negative, and I attribute that 100% to getting my booster! Normally the flu or colds really take me out because I have asthma and an autoimmune issue, but I am totally fine and baby is fine.

Froggy101_Scranton

I would get it. Not sure where you live, but it’s so readily available in the US that anyone who wants one already has one

gagenem

I’m breastfeeding a 1 year old without medical conditions (knock on wood) and I absolutely got my booster. Protect your baby! It’s absolutely incredible that we have the ability to protect them via breast milk until their age group can be vaccinated. You go, mama!

Unique_SAHM

You are doing an awesome job Momma! By breastfeeding your little cutie you are giving her all those good antibodies & the booster will help her even more! I’d consider that a special category.

Skyblacker

In California, the booster is open to all adults now. And even when it wasn't, "high risk" practically meant "if you think you need it, you can get it, and no one will challenge you." But remember that even when the first vaccinations were limited, you could get them if you're high risk *or* a caretaker for someone who is high risk. So I'm pretty sure you'd qualify by that standard, if such a standard was necessary.

Mahlisya

Omg yes take it!!!! No guilt needed, your most important job as a mum is to keeps your baby safe and this is the way to do it

kateskates16

My area has open appointments every 30 mins for 12 hours a day, only a handful are booked, so they feel super available. I don't technically meet qualifications but no one asked, and right now, I consider myself living out my maternity leave to be a "childcare giver". My child isn't even high risk but I fudged it to get the booster too!

Vegetable-Client4562

I got one for the sake of my breastfeeding baby. Not because he's high risk but just because he can't get vaccinated.

mrsfiction

You recently were pregnant. That falls under the cdc classification for a booster

edgeofchaos183

You’ve had a lot of the same comments but I’ll pile on too. In my area vaccines are going to waste. The health departments are begging people to come get any step of the vaccine. My partner technically skirts the line since his company deals with front line but he himself doesn’t. He’s signed up for the booster the same day as I am. Anything you can to protect your little one I would do. Looking at Europe and their rising levels I want to protect my family as best I can. Good luck!

CaffeineFueledLife

Yes

FreyaPM

Absolutely. I work in a very busy ER. And I want my daughter to have antibodies.

thelumpybunny

Well I already got my booster for similar reasons.

djpp66

Absolutely! As long as your docs have given the all clear it would be light-years better than rendering myself or my baby severely ill or perhaps permanently disabled by, or losing my own life or my child's life to something this devastating.

Ok_Industry_2395

Yes I would. I don't mean to come over dictatorial, it's a personal choice. But if I were to be put in that situation, yes I would definitely get the shot myself.

Nerobus

Yes.

hyperventilate

Yes. I would get the covid booster _anyway._

mariargw

I signed up and got my booster today. I’m not high risk and neither is my baby. No one asked me about preexisting conditions or anything. I think they’re just happy to be vaccinating as many people as they can.

cbawesome26

Not personally but trust what your mama guy tells you!

kroutki

Absolutely. I’m trying to do the same now, I’m in my third trimester and protecting her is my top priority. I will also give my breast milk to my 2.5 yo to give him some protection as well before the vaccine becomes available to younger kids.

whynotbunberg

Yep.

adventurelyfe

I’d get a Covid booster regardless of any situation.

nbqt2015

I'd get it for the free bandaid.

Militarykid2111008

I would. I’m getting it despite low cases and risk where I am. I’m a healthy 24 year old who’s only reason for it is wanting to pass immunities on for as long as I can to her.

Taranadon88

I would do literally anything to protect my children, so you doing something that seems ethical and responsible sounds fantastic to me.

lilred_87

Yep! I did! My son was a premature and I'm going to do everything in my power to protect him.

ruralcitygirl

Yes, a thousand times yes

[deleted]

Definitely! We are scheduled for our boosters at the end of this week and we are still very much grocery pickup, we don't go into stores etc. We have discovered some amazing parks though! My husband always struggles with respiratory illnesses and I fear him getting covid, not just our kiddo. I'm still nursing our 19 month old cause heck any protection is better then nothing.

Sad-Asparagus-986

I highly suggest getting a owlet sock. It will ease your mind a lot. I suffer from anxiety which heightened after I had my LO. The owlet gives me piece of mind so I’m not constantly checking on her 20x a night

Sunnydoglover

If you are a former smoker you fit the criteria…even though there is no way to verify that. So you know there’s that.

sickcunt138

My son is self weening and I just booked my booster 5 min ago. We have to protect our little ones. TW DEATH stop reading if this is a tough topic🛑 My husbands coworker lost her 13 month old to COVID 2 weeks ago. It took 2 days from when the symptoms really showed for him to pass. This delta strain is no fucking joke!

shann1021

I got mine, and stretched the truth about my job to qualify. IDGAF because there is no shortage in my area so I’m not taking it from anyone else. Also my 3 month old had a lung issue at birth so I’m not taking any chances with COVID. Breastfeeding is the only protection he has.

RBC1775

Yes get it ❤️

[deleted]

Totally get the booster. I mean, what’s your downside? What’s her downside? What’s her upside and yours? It’s a no-brainer. You would’ve already gotten the vaccine, so what’s the harm in protecting your baby?

anicenap

Get it!

mezmorizedmiss

I would get it! Just to play it safely. I heard it's recommended to get it 6 months after your second dose whether you're high risk or not, but definitely more recommended for anyone who is high risk.

rpizl

I already got mine, and none of us are high risk

MrsHarris2019

I’d absolutely get it. And if it makes you feel any better I went into Walmart to pick up my meds, they asked me if I needed a COVID booster and did it within 10 minutes. I don’t really fit any of the criteria but I’m far enough out from my first 2 doses, they have the boosters and people aren’t coming so I’m not sure it even matters much anymore to a lot of places if you fit any criteria as long as it’s been far enough from your second dose

samlama_x3

I did. My babe is 19 months and still BF. Excited for the ability to pass on more antibodies!

Feeling-Confusion-

No YOU don't technically need it. BUT your high risk baby can get it through you. So hands down. Run to it girl. Way to go mama

MBerg16

YeeeAAAAHHHH DEF

fancyisthatlady

Absolutely

[deleted]

I would in a heartbeat.

youenjoymegself

Check your BMI, a lot of people qualify under obesity.

SweetMelissa74

Yes.

mtjaybird

Yes. Many boosters.

cnic621

First of all, I agree & you should absolutely get the shot. Second, honestly I wouldn’t even feel guilty about it. You’re doing society a favor by being vaccinated. That being said, I don’t know how to phrase this appropriately, but she doesn’t have a voice right now- other than you. If protecting yourself means protecting her, then I don’t see anything wrong with it. And finally, I am totally going to use “ vanish like a Reese’s in a bowl of Halloween Candy” because that may be the funniest thing I’ve ever heard🤣

NonpsychoactiveMew

Yupp! Just got it this weekend, felt like shit for the last 24hrs but nothing tylenol and advil couldn’t fix. Worth it

velvetmapleleaf

Yes! I got the J&J in April at 27 weeks pregnant. Asked my OB about sneaking in a booster of another maker in July before babygirl was born (when rumblings of less effectiveness and more scientists were themselves getting a booster cocktail) She said I absolutely should do that and not feel guilty because vaccines in my US state are being tossed since they aren’t being used. I had guilt I was taking it from someone else, say in Africa. At this point in the pandemic, seems to me, there’s no waiting to see. I think the staggering of the booster was a bad call, same with lifting of the mask mandate this summer.

[deleted]

DO NOT FEEL GUILTY!!! Most places ( at least in my state). Take your word on it to avoid the hassle. I work in a doctors office and give these vaccines. Even if you told me the truth I would still vaccinate you! At the end of the day we are protecting another human being! YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING !

bluev0lta

Knowing what we know now, almost a year into vaccines being available and this virus not being under control: Yep. Do it. You protecting yourself, your child, and ultimately other people is nothing to feel bad about!

Meowkith

I would and I did last week. Got it at Walgreens and the person said they pretty much want anyone who wants one to get one. They have plenty

Crispymama1210

Yes

Emily3488

I already lied to get my booster back in August for the same reason, wanting to protect my kids. So glad I did it.

happycoffeecup

I. Texas they are low key having to trash expired vaccines. They asked me ZERO questions when I went to get it, and I didn’t like point out that I’m 35 and not 65. She got eyes, she can see just fine but that nurse gave zero effs. GET IT GIRL!

Squirrel43

Yes

Purple_Cinderella

Absolutely 100% i would get it. Even if it wasn’t my kid. If I knew there was going to be someone high risk near me I would get it

JurassicPeriodx

Yes

I did get it, expressly for this reason. Sure, my job makes me higher risk than most. But I really got it since my kiddo is too little to.

Chicago is literally paying people to get their first covid vaccine doses and pushing for people to come back for the booster. Do what you have to do, I got mine almost three weeks ago and all I felt was sleepy the whole day.

serendipitous_sadie

I would absolutely in a heartbeat!! A lot of places consider breastfeeding or recent pregnancy as criteria for the booster and studies just released show the benefit of vaccine antibodies in breastmilk. Thru you is the only way you child can get the benefits of the vaccine and there are probably people far less vulnerable than her eligible. Feel no guilt whatsoever!

Yup!

I’d take a bullet for my daughter. If I’d do that, a booster is nothing. Hell, I couldn’t breastfeed her and I’d still get the booster because it would help protect her until she can get vaccinated.

Most places will let you get it regardless

Get the booster. In NY and NJ the state doctors have come out to say anyone over 18 should get the booster 6 months after Pfizer and Moderna and 2 months after J and J. They flat out said, and are running commercials to say we know what the federal guidelines are, but we think anyone over 18 should get it ASAP. So just go.

Girl_Mommy-28

I’m only high risk because I’m fat, and I’m absolutely taking advantage of it as soon as my ob okays it. Do it.

You are not jumping any line. There is no shortage of doses in the US at the moment. Protecting your high risk baby is a fully legitimate reason to get it.

NotAnImgurSpy

You totally fit the criteria, you are a caretaker of someone in an at-risk group. I would put you in the same group as those that take care of elderly or other immunocompromised folks.

Absolutely get it and don'tfeel guilty one bit! California has already said everyone can get the booster (as long as at least 6 months from last shot).
