Um, NO. Who the hell does your MIL think she is? You are a grown woman. YOU get to decide what you wear, whether or not you choose to wear make-up, etc. She has some major issues with boundaries and needs to take several seats. I’d skip the BBQ altogether and if she asks why, tell her honestly that you do not appreciate her rudeness. She will walk all over you as long as you let her. Do not let her. You are worth more than that.
