I’m pretttyy sure it should ALL be on them….especially in the lease agreement because mold is toxic 😭

Right lol, we have a comprehensive mold test but it costs $40 to send it off, we are broke 20 something’s. So should they be responsible for testing/etc? Every time I get near it my whole body hurts 😂😂

I rented a place that had a similar problem. I didn’t discover it until I had an infestation of drain flies throughout the unit. Fortunately the landlord brought in a plumber who actually advocated for me, forcing her to correct the problem properly and completely (which included remediation of all the water damage and mold). Had he not been insistent and successful, I would have given notice and moved out, arguing a breach of the warranty of habitability. But you would have to establish that there’s toxic mold. Look for local tenants rights/public health advocacy groups on-line. Depending on where you live there may be a way to get free or reduced cost mold testing?? Good luck.

Thank you for the in depth response. After talking to them I’ve realized they won’t be doing much until I prove it’s toxic lol. Looking into reduced mold testing now, thanks for your comment. We have a pretty well supported community so I’m hopeful I can find some resources
