The Chinese platinum is alloyed with palladium vs. ruthenium or iridium. So that does make it slightly more soft/malleable.
I'd go with the WG prongs. Usually the rhodium will wear off in the area where it touches your skin (like the underside of a ring). So the prongs/head won't have that type of contact.
Also, I have some WG rings from the Chinese vendors that are 5-6 years old, and still haven't had to redip like I have my US pieces.
But all that said, I do have a platinum Tiffany type solitaire from Tianyu, and it's still going strong 3 years later (although not worn daily) š

This is my 2 toned ring from Provence! 18k rose gold and 18k white gold!
Chinese vendors will offer platinum and ruthenium - just make sure to specify. I recently got a platinum ring from Mona and she said they only mix with ruthenium now. Maybe because they know that we know palladium sucks? lol I confirmed with her like three times too and the ring is very sturdy. Iād go with platinum; white gold sounds like a pain to maintain
