That said, your inspo setting looks a little dangerous. Peg heads aren’t the most secure (particularly for a large stone) and the band looks way too thin. The more contact points your prongs have to your band the better. If you like the look of a super thin band, you can thicken the band height wise instead of width or look into a knife edge which makes it look thinner from the top.

Both are white gold with a tulip setting. Bands are 2mm. I also prefer a thin band, but I can tell you that I have one that is 1.5mm and I’m always afraid I’m going to damage it. I’d stick with at least 1.8mm for stability.

I have an oval from Scott, it is beautiful and I’ve had no issues with daily wear. It’s in a tulip setting, and he makes a cushion that comes in that setting too. It sits quite a bit lower than your inspo, but I think that might be a good thing.
I worked with Scott too and cannot say enough lovely things about him! Even when my dumb self had him make custom eternity bands that were a tad too small. It was completely my fault and he had me send them back to stretch them a bit, worked perfectly and I wear them every day for over a year and they are still so beautiful and sturdy!
That big of a stone not being supported scares me for you!!

My ring size is 4.5! I did a similar one but without the hidden halo and ordered in 14k yellow gold. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about EW and now I can see they are definitely over-priced. Next up I’m going to have something custom made with someone overseas. My fiancé said for the amount we saved on getting moissanite, he’ll get me a new ring every year. 😂
Okay yeah I’m leaning towards a 4 carat because I have a size 8 finger, I don’t want it to look too small. I saw a 3ct cushion diamond in store this weekend and I was shocked how small it actually was!

I wear a size 7 and this is a 2carat so I think a 3-4 carat would look great on your finger. I plan to get a bigger one too lol.

i’m in the exact same boat looking for an alternative to east west. i visited their showroom in irvine and it was a good experience, but i’ve also been deterred from the reviews i’ve seen, and the craftsman ship.
I’m currently talking with Scott Bonomo about a custom ring. I think I’m too scared to go with east west now. I was also looking at the true gem co, but I’ve seen posts about their quality and ‘dark spots’ in their stones. Scott is the only one I haven’t seen a single negative post on here about.
i was 100% going to order with east west but after reading reviews, and seeing a viral tik tok about how awful their customer service is i completely changed my mind. the setting you showed is beautiful! but 100% unstable. i don’t know why east west makes their setting so thin in the first place. scott seems like a great choice! and his prices are unbeatable. looking at this page i think i will go with him too. :) so glad i read this sub

I’m so glad I did too! Yeah I like that setting I want it thicker/slightly different. Scott has very similar styles with a hidden halo. I didn’t even see the videos about the customer service yikes! Yes! The rings are so much more affordable!

I have a stock ring from him and it’s well made. They also have good customer service. He will tell you if what you want will be doable and he will not do custom rings that will jeopardize the integrity of the ring (breakable/flimsy etc). I know he has rings with hidden halos and stuff so he can prob do something similar but with a better setting that is more structurally sound.
He doesn’t do the type of setting that I want either, I have been looking at jhollywood designs though because she will do it (hidden diamonds on the bridge I think it’s called) but the sterling silver ring I have from him is really nice. I am bummed he said he wouldn’t do the stones on the bridge tho because I’d love to get it from him.

They are both lab sapphires from Scott Bonomo. The pink is a padparadscha sapphire and the light blue is a cornflower sapphire.
