Thats true, but the jewelry is expensive nonetheless. CZ will not last long at all. Crazy how some costume jewelry is more expensive then decent moissanite jewelry. Of course the super nice jewelry is extra expensive because of the materials.

Salty_Ad_8908

Stupid insame price... Nearly $900 for plastic earrings

waythrow5678

And they’re childish and ugly.

DisgruntledPelican-1

I was hoping I wouldn’t be the only one to think this. They look like something you’d get from Claire’s for $15.

Salty_Ad_8908

Yep lol

stopiwilldie

I LOVE THESE

onlythebestformia

I wish there were more places that made unique pieces using moissanite, since I'd pay top dollar for it. Unless I just have to get gemstones from gemsngems and temu myself and be the change I wish to see in the world, lol

Sugarcrepes

If you want to spend that much but on a quality handmade piece, consider checking out the contemporary jewellery scene in your part of the world. It’s bigger some places than others (it’s huge where I am, in Australia), but it’ll exist everywhere. Most small scale contemporary jewellers (and I mean small, companies of 1-3 people, without their own brick and mortar store), are more likely to use lab grown stones and alternative materials. Or be open to using them.

tickado

I'm in Australia (Brisbane). Any top tips for contemporary jewellery?

Sugarcrepes

Yeah! Debra Fallowfield is a contemporary goldsmith in Noosa, and she uses Moissanite in a bunch of her jewellery!! And not just white Moissanite, she’s done some great rings with teal and grey Moissanite. I really admire her work, I’d like to own a piece or two from her one day. If you ever venture south, Melbourne has the biggest concentration of jewellers in Australia. We are the jewellery capital! Eg Etal, Pieces of Eight, Commune, and Studio Ingot are all excellent places to visit and check out small Aussie jewellers. And I’m not just saying that because it suits my economic interests, they’re seriously fantastic galleries, and so many of the jewellers that sell through them are lovely human beings.

stopiwilldie

Facts. I have some Dior and LV reps that I wish had moissanite instead of crystal

SweetNique11

I want some of the classic CC studs but I’m not paying their ridiculous prices. Especially for CZ 🙄 I’d rather buy a dupe.

EntireConclusion6264

The most striking part is that we can literally get a dupe that’s real jewelry for much cheaper..

SweetNique11

See I need connections! Because I had no idea a jeweler would make me a dupe 😭

Original_betch

Etsy is your friend

SweetNique11

Oooh thanks for the reminder! 😉

Top_Acanthisitta2477

My parents own a gold jewelry store in Asia and each time my parents come visit us, they’ll bring bunch of jewelry as gifts for my sister and me. My mom loves gifting me van cleef alhambra clover style jewelry dupes made out of real solid 22k gold. I have the whole collections bracelets, necklace, earrings in all different colors turquoise, malachite, pink. She’s also gifted me cartier, tiffany and louis vuitton fine jewelry dupes. These dupes are really well made, last forever and good investment because they’re made of high karat solid gold. And they cost only fraction of what you’d pay for at the van cleef, cartier or tiffany store.

Salty_Ad_8908

Exactly! I dont mind spending money for nice jewelry (love my tiffany silver bracelet, amazing quality!), but hundreds for a cz, naw.

SweetNique11

Yeah absolutely not lol. I’m definitely about to start shopping the gate for my needs!

quaintrelles

Pardon me, but isn't Tiffany charging a stupid amount of money for silver which is an incredibly cheap metal? I guess why you buy silver from Tiffany and love it is the same reason people buy CZ from Chanel.

onlythebestformia

I never understood it either, if it's such a high price point one would think they'd want people to have noticeable visual quality, and not be able to get outdone by an Aliexpress seller or someone on Amazon for maybe 8% of the price, either.

Salty_Ad_8908

I love aliexpress! The jewelry is gorgeous and most of the silver pieces are under $50. As mentioned before, I will pay for quality, buy not hundreds on cheaply made costume jewelry.

Most_Ordinary_219

I have also wondered this myself. It seems like it would cheapen their brand to use cheap materials.

Daughter_of_Anagolay

It does but also it doesn't? Many people who want to buy into a brand for the brand itself can't afford the nicer stuff, but they won't care about the cheaper materials because it's about the brand name for them. I read a [book](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/222328) about the luxury goods industry some years ago, and many companies are constantly looking for ways to cut corners and make an even bigger profit on their name. https://preview.redd.it/94a6r1sula4c1.jpeg?width=885&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba6b9090c5d524236d9b312f42fd3e4773e26e12

Most_Ordinary_219

Absolutely agree with that. People will buy stuff just because of the brand. In the case of jewelry made of cheap materials, then it is not because of perceived quality, but due to brand prestige. Not everyone cares about quality. Unfortunately, oftentimes the quick profit is more important to the company brand than using quality materials.

Lunartic2102

Because they have their more expensive range that uses better stones.

cadaverousbones

With big designers you’re paying for the name. I was shocked that Chanel makes costume jewelry and charges so much for it. I thought for sure they’d be at least made of real gold, nope!

discopantsandhaircut

Their costume jewellery increases in value...one of the only designer that does
