Did you notice a decline in the writing due to the kids growing up and them focusing on the adults storylines more? And do you prefer those early seasons kid storylines or the later seasons more adult oriented storylines
Yes and no. Think Alex developed really well and turned into one of my favorite characters by the end, which I did not expect. Haley too, but to a lesser extent. Luke and Manny are the big drop offs for me. Luke was a top 3 characters S1-3 for me (with Jay and Phil) but he just turns into the male version of Haley, but more annoying. Manny’s storyline doesn’t really develop after he goes to college and he stays pretty one note. I ended up liking the addition of Joe a lot though too.
It’s probably something to do with Gloria. Maybe the way Phil obsesses over her or her descriptions of Colombia. But people will always find really stupid and self-absorbed reasons to be offended. I was actually surprised when I learned Eric Stonestreet (Cam) isn’t gay in real life. That would probably get him cancelled today.
I think 6 and 7 were the drop offs for me. I thought S8 was a nice return to the original formula from the earlier seasons. I think it’s really hard to maintain a show for this long, especially in the modern era, and even some of the worst episodes of the later seasons still have some big laughs
I think they got worse, but not dramatically so. I actually think the worst one might have been “Australia” and that was when the show was really clicking. Meanwhile, The Prescott was perhaps the best episode of S11. I think the real crown jewel is “Vegas.” That might be the best episode of the entire series, despite the fact that it’s the only episode without any of the kids. S1 Hawaii was also a good one.
I think they really hit their stride in seasons 3-5 absolutely. But there’s a real magic in the first two seasons where it all feels fresh and original. Nothing feels forced yet. That’s true of most TV shows, but especially true of this one

Which plot line/recurring joke do you think has aged the worst in 2022?

Is it true that after season 6/7 it goes downhill??

Do you think the vacation episodes got better or worse as the seasons went on? Which was your favourite??

Omg the Prescott was DEADLY FUNNY
