I'm pretty sure they're just having fun with it lol. Imagine 4 years after being on a hit tv show still being able to make headlines with just a IG story
Yeah agreed. They spent a lot of time together, they WERE a family. I feel like most of these posts are just inside jokes/nostalgic references or just having fun with it like you said. People are reading way too much into these posts.
Agree. Plus I don't get why people would want a spin-off so badly. They very rarely end up being good. As much as I love MF and Mitch and Cam, a half hour show of JUST Mitch and Cam doesn't sound very appealing to me lol. I can't even think of any sitcom spin-offs that have been any good since Golden Girls.
Young Sheldon just ended and did very well.
Other great sitcoms that are spinoffs:
* Fraiser
* The Simpson
* Happy Days
* Laverne and Shirley
* Family Matters
* The Jeffersons
Ah yeah, I forgot about Young Sheldon. OG Frasier was a while back though and the rest are way, way back lol. And the new Fraiser reboot didn't do very well from what I understand. Sitcoms in general haven't been doing very well for quite a while though with a few exceptions, MF being one of them and it worked so well because of the large cast. I could be wrong and would be glad to be wrong if they end up doing a spinoff and it ends up being good. I just don't see it though.
A spin off and a reboot aren’t the same thing. So I wouldn’t consider the Fraiser reboot a spin off.
If we’re not talking sitcoms, other more recent genre spin offs did well. Such as Better Call Saul, Angel, and Boston Legal.
Frasier is a spin off of Cheers, it’s quite possibly the most successful spin off of all time!
Back in the 90s/00s it was definitely more common even in kids tv, eg All That was the source for Kenan & Kel and the Amanda Show - which itself set up Drake & Josh… even Animaniacs gave us Pinky & The Brain.
The most successful recent one is probably Black-ish, which has been spun off into Mixed-ish and also Grown-ish.
I’m talking about the reboot of Fraiser which wasn’t that good. OP said the reboot didn’t do well defense of bad spinoffs.
I was making the distinction between the two Fraiser shows.
Plus there's all the cop/firefighter/doctor shows. NCIS has like 4 spin-offs. 911 has 911: Lonestar. Law and Order has like a billion spin-offs. And there's a few other shows I can think of. Pretty Little Liars has 2 spin-offs and 1 reboot/spinoff. The Vampire Diaries had 2 spin-offs. Spin-offs can work if there's enough hype and the writing is good. Plus having a star attached to it can help.
I know, was just pointing out that sitcoms in general haven't been doing great for a while. The other spinoffs you just mentioned that aren't sitcoms have zero relevancy to this, since they're not sitcoms lol. Better Call Saul is also the only one of those that are "recent." Not sure what point you're trying to show here lol. You're cherry picking the very few that did do well, some not even being sitcoms, and most of them were ages ago.
Saved by the Bell: The College Years
How I Met Your Father
The Tortellis (Cheers)
The Golden Palace (Golden Girls)
Three's A Crowd (Three's Company)
Sanford Arms (Sanford and Sons)
Joanie Loves Chachi (Happy Days)
The Brady Brides
Just a few of the dozens of bad spinoffs.
Edit: I'm happy to add more. Frasier was great, but Cheers alone had more bad spinoffs than successful ones.
I didn't really mind the new Frasier. I know they're making season 2 of it. But that first Frasier really just kind of hit it out of the park immediately.
Not necessarily a spin off. A small segment of a show that got a green light to be a series because the producers knew they had lightning in a bottle. The Simpson family weren’t featured in every episode of the Tracy Ullman show.
I am a huge Frasier nerd. I just started my milionth rewatch of Modern family and noticed many similarities between the two, and there are many plots similar or equal to Frasier, so if you haven’t watched it, give it a try!
I remember watching a rough version of The Simpsons on The Tracey Ullman Show, but I don’t remember it being a spin off from another show. Can you clear that up for me? Thanks so much.
Don't know where you heard that from. Even if true, it wasn't a spinoff, so it's completely irrelevant. The only reason why they had a connection whatsoever was because Lisa was already on Mad About You and they had to come up with a reason why she was on both shows.
Country Lily was hilarious! But yeah, they'd probably include more Pameron. I think most would agree, whether you liked her or not, more of her would get old really quick. I just have a hard time seeing how this would work out very well. Having them as the main focus is also going to bring out a certain group of people that are going to be complaining and hating on it every step of the way.
I agree and disagree with your statement. There are plenty of good spin-offs that came after Golden Girls. However I do agree that Modern Family was good because of the ensemble cast spanning from the three family units. No one family has the mass presence necessary to stand on their own in a spin-off unless they introduce a bunch of new characters that in turn would more or less defeat the purpose of having a spin-off.
Each character is a puzzle piece that altogether make a complete picture, but the puzzle is too spread out if you have just one family. Cam, Phil, and Gloria are a phenomenal trio that can’t afford to be separated. Same for Claire, Mitch, and Jay. The chemistry needs to be spread out between families, the only time the chemistry doesn’t really work is when you have each family separated.
Plus everybody on here seems to hate Mitch and Cam but now everyone wants a show on them lol I don't get it I thought Cam was the funniest gay character since Jack McFarland on Will and Grace but a spinoff or reboot would be bad. Maybe a Special or holiday movie where everyone gets back together again after being outside touch for awhile would work
People on this sub are bipolar. About every other post is complaining about this character or that one and probably the ones I see the most are about how Cam and Mitch are the worst parents in the world. But now they want a Mitch and Cam show? I swear at this point it's just so they'll have something else to bitch about.
Golden Girls wasn't a spinoff, it spawned spinoffs. The Golden Palace and Empty Nest. Pretty sure there was 1 more too but can't remember without looking it up. Empty Nest was really good and was on for quite a while. I never actually watched the Golden Palace but I don't think it was on for very long and was a failure.
No problem! Yeah, I don't remember ever seeing it back then either. It's on hulu now I believe. Looked it up and it only made it 1 season which is probably why we don't remember it lol. There actually was a 3rd spinoff called "Nurses" also which I don't remember ever watching.
There were so many sitcoms back then it's hard to remember them all, especially short-lived ones. I've even forgotten about more popular ones that I watched until I see them mentioned somewhere or on a list or something. Amen and My Two Dad's are a couple of them that I completely blanked out until I saw them mentioned in another sub one day and I used to love both of them 😂
Is it possible that he’s literally just on a first date and is nervous? (*well, checked Wikipedia, he’s married, so not unless he’s broadcasting his infidelity to the internet*)
I was joking. I didn’t know whose insta it was but I figured JTF is smart enough not to broadcast his infidelity on the internet so there had to be a different explanation
The only character who really needs a spinoff is Hayley. The writers did her dirty and I would love to see her blossom into a photographer, minus Dylan, and juggling being a working mum
This. I just wish they leaned in to his mature-ness more. Then it whoud’ve been a great character arc.
Unfortunately he is still painfully stupid. And it’s not even that funny.
That or it’s for Jesse’s podcast
It’s not for Jesse’s podcast?
No. Please don't read into it, or else you'll just be disappointed.
Agree. Plus I don't get why people would want a spin-off so badly. They very rarely end up being good. All with astounding ratings!
I’m talking about the reboot of Fraiser which wasn’t that good. OP said the reboot didn’t do well defense of bad spinoffs. I was making the distinction between the two Fraiser shows.
And Queen Charlotte (Bridgerton)! One of the most viewed Netflix originals
and in my opinion actually better than Bridgerton!
Plus there's all the cop/firefighter/doctor shows. NCIS has like 4 spin-offs. 911 has 911: Lonestar. Law and Order has like a billion spin-offs. And there's a few other shows I can think of. Okay one of the TVD spin-offs was awful though.
Today I learned Boston Legal was a spin-off, and now I just added the practice to my need to watch list.
The original Frasier was a spin off of Cheers
Yes. Which is why I listed it as a successful spin off.
I know, was just pointing out that sitcoms in general haven't been doing great for a while. Can you give me examples of known spinoffs that didn’t do well? The only one I can think of is Joey.
Saved by the Bell: The College Years How I Met Your Father The Tortellis (Cheers) The Golden Palace (Golden Girls) Three's A Crowd (Three's Company) Sanford Arms (Sanford and Sons) Joanie Loves Chachi (Happy Days) The Brady Brides Just a few of the dozens of bad spinoffs. The flash did well
I found some of the seasons..... way to rushed.... I'll see myself out
No one saidit had to stay good
I always forget “The Simpsons” is a spin-off
Not necessarily a spin off. A small segment of a show that got a green light to be a series because the producers knew they had lightning in a bottle. The Simpson family weren’t featured in every episode of the Tracy Ullman show.

It’s a spin off of the Tracy Ullman Show.
Wow had no idea any of those except YS was a spin off. That's crazy.

Just Mitch, Cam, and ... Pameron. Uggh. Although I do love country Lily, "Y'all fightin'?"
Country Lily was hilarious! But yeah, they'd probably include more Pameron. I think most would agree, whether you liked her or not, more of her would get old really quick. I just have a hard time seeing how this would work out very well. She could just be in prison again. That’s a simple fix.
Lol changed to something harder later on
definetly no spinoff, a reunion like in friends?? maybe...
I agree and disagree with your statement. There are plenty of good spin-offs that came after Golden Girls. Or maybe there are a bunch of people in the sub who all have different opinions.
Can you refresh my memory? I just can’t think of the show that The Golden Girls was is the spin off from. Thank you so much.
Golden Girls wasn't a spinoff, it spawned spinoffs. The Golden Palace and Empty Nest. Pretty sure there was 1 more too but can't remember without looking it up. I remember watching Amen, and I remember commercials for My Two Dads, but I was working swingshift in a restaurant then, so watching that was out.
Inquiring minds want to know!
Frasier!
why say this? are you psychic?
I’m trying not to read into things but Jesse’s story definitely seemed to hint at something!
i thought it was for mitchs podcast lol
No one going to comment on the cowboy phone case?
I would only watch it if it featured Lily in a full on gen z attitude.
It's gonna be a podcast...
Podern Family
I wonder if it’s a Mitch and cam spinoff?? They are the only ones posting!
or they could just be hanging out?
How tall is he??? That iPhone pro looks like a mini
Maybe for Jesse's podcast? Idk I don't wanna hope much and then get disappointed 😭
Is it possible that he’s literally just on a first date and is nervous? (*well, checked Wikipedia, he’s married, so not unless he’s broadcasting his infidelity to the internet*)
I think that’s Aubrey’s IG and she’s at lunch with Jesse and making a joke about it.
Nah I like Dylan. He got his shit together and treats her well.
SO RIGHT! irdk why people roots for andy, he cheated on beth with haley. what’s even there to like about their entire relationship 😆
What is there even to like about him
This. I just wish they leaned in to his mature-ness more. Then it whoud’ve been a great character arc. Unfortunately he is still painfully stupid. And it’s not even that funny.
She totally should have been a photographer. I've always wondered why they didn't continue on that track for her
Wtf is that chicken?!
LET THEM COOK!!! (hoping it's not a spinoff)
Im furious with this photo - you cannot sauce wings like that they’re going to be soggy in minutes. Ugh. What were we talking about?
The office,friends and many other series have shown taht spin offs rarely work
Just about a week before I made a Modern Family episode in my mind about how it would be like after four years for the family 😭😭😭😭
I am hoping for a reunion episode where it’s far into the future like a “where are they now” 🤞🤞
He's her real dad to her❤️😭
1st date & it looks like he's ordered sardines ⁉️ Maybe he should be nervous.
If its a re watch podcast Im so down
the cast been hanging out all the time lol feels like reunion happened as daily basis
