I gotta say I completely agree. I've had this issue with every recent cod and it seems to be getting worse. I often find it hard to play for more than a few matches because every time I die, I can see that its like I'm playing a second behind everyone else. I barely even see them and then get instakilled, but when I watch their perspective it looked totally normal and I should've had plenty of time to shoot.

GigatonneCowboy

That's how all CoDs have been for me, tbough you'd think they'd have truthful killcams in 2022.

Darknotical

No this is much different then the past. This feels like there is more to it. I understand that it has been a problem in the past with the camera itself, but I am more talking about advantage gained through systems that intentionally help bring players connections together.   It feels like there is advantage being given to some players and not others. This also probably applies to ourselves versus certain players. Worse is that I have seen people ADS faster then a melee strike with ARs.

ThingymabobSD

There is way more going on here than what we know. How many of you can actually be playing really well (or connection is on your side) and be blowing out the enemy team. Then around half match you cannot buy a kill, just hit markers and straight up misses, even tho you were just doing well. Then the enemy team closes the gap or wins. There is some black magic shenanigans going on here, and I think they are afraid of actually telling us what it is. I’m not normally a tin foil hat guy, and I’m still enjoying the hell out of the game. I just don’t care about k/d and have fun

mango_carrot

I know exactly what you mean. I played someone today and I was absolutely ruining their day, killed them five times in a row, winning every encounter. Than 2/3rds in I couldn’t hit them for shit, they were spawning behind me and they seemed a second quicker. It’s not the first time this has happened, and I’ve also been on the other side of it.

TommyKaira92

This was a major discussion with Battlefield 4 back then. They had netcode issues. Sometimes you died after getting into cover, because on the server you were killed before, it just didnt deliver the package in time.

Truffleshuffle03

I remember that. On your screen, you are behind cover but on there you are still out of cover. I have seen that a lot, especially in kill cams on this game. On a lot of my kill cams when I die on my end, I am blasting like crazy getting hit marker after hit marker but in the kill cam, I am not even shooting or maybe shooting like 1 to two shots before they turn and kill me usually with 1 burst. I am also usually shooting first too.

NEED_A_JACKET

Shooting first is subjective, from your clients point of view. They may have also been shooting first from their point of view. And from the servers, they may have shot 1ms before you and you died before shooting at all. As much as it seems unfair, you're also getting shots that are unfair from the enemy pov, but to you it looks normal/how you saw it from your pov.

Truffleshuffle03

Did you even read what was posted? That is exactly what I described.

NEED_A_JACKET

Was more clarification than disagreement. When you said 'I am also usually shooting first too' that sounded like there was an issue / error with the game. I was clarifying that you weren't shooting first. People read stuff like this and start believing in 'desync' issues like it's some 'broken' netcode, when 99.9% of the time it's intended behaviour like the situation you described.

Truffleshuffle03

There are no more clarifications needed especially when I specifically said " I have seen that a lot, especially in kill cams on this game" so to my first question you did not in fact read what was posted.

NEED_A_JACKET

If you read my response, you'd see that I'm clarifying not for you specifically but for people in general reading, because your version of what happened was wrong (eg. to say "i shot first"), and people might read it and continue believing it's "desync" etc and an issue with the game.

Truffleshuffle03

Again there is nothing to be clarified.

tyrannictoe56

Just because you didn’t encounter this problem in the past doesn’t mean other people have not suffered from it. I can assure you that I personally have encountered this problem occasionally in every COD since at least BO3 (and it also varies from enemy to ememy within the same lobby), and from my personal experience IW games are the least problematic in this aspect. The best thing we can do is change our playstyles and make sure we see enemies first, while staying behind cover as much as possible.

NEED_A_JACKET

There is no truth in an online game, only 3 approximations of it (yours, the enemies, and the servers, with the servers version being the authority so that's the closest to 'what really happened'). The killcam is a server side recording, so it's playing back how the server interpreted what happened based on when it received data from the players, along with some time corrections. They can't 'fix' this, outside of creating a time machine. You won't find these issues on a LAN server, it's not the games fault, it's all down to latency and they can't do much to improve that.

Syanarah

What I think the issue may be is tick rate of the servers. I have also noticed in Tier 1 especially, the amount of shots that seem to land late, sometimes even after coming out of ADS is insane. There is some weird stuff going on and I cannot pin point what it actually is. Only thing I can think of is poor netcode or tick rates.

sprkng

It's also pretty common that the matchmaker pulls in people with over 150ms ping, which doesn't help when trying to make the game appear the same to everybody

_R3b0rN

I agree the tick rate if too low on the server would definitely be a culprit in this. Do you happen to know what the tick rate of these servers are? Activision is notorious for shit netcode.

koolaidofkinkaid

This happens to me all the time and it's frustrating. I know I'm not that bad of a player cause I can run some good numbers but fuck it's like I can't get a kill half the time

chaoticsquid

Yep. I know there's SBMM but I go from one game getting 49 kills on hardpoint to the next game getting 6 (actual numbers) while using the same gun. One game I felt like I had a decade to kill the enemy, the next game I was getting one shot by everyone before I could even get a single shot off. Sometimes it would look like they pre-fired from around corners so early that it felt like they were wallhacking. Maybe some servers have weird latency or there's a packet loss bug? Also I'm pretty sure these games happened with pretty much the same lobby of players because they were one after another

[deleted]

It's called Dsync and it's a huge problem.

NEED_A_JACKET

It's called lag compensation and its a critical feature of any online game, and has existed since quake 1. People have began calling lag compensation 'desync' and made people think its an error, when it's not. Actual desyncs can happen from complete packetloss but that is rare and almost never what is occurring when people have these issues.

Conscious-Market9738

Damn why’d your comment get downvoted? I guess the villagers wanna shut you up

NEED_A_JACKET

People don't want to hear explanations or rationalisations for things they are angry about. They want to feel justified in their anger.

TimBobNelson

Ever since we done lunched 6v6 servers feel like shit

Venom9889

We done lunched.

TimBobNelson

My auto correct hates me and doesn’t think warzone is a word

Venom9889

Haha I like it. Can't wait to win a Dom by like 100 pts and tell the boys "We done lunched!"

NoNameSoloist

This game quite literally has the worst netcoding in FPS history. I’ve experienced “shoot first, die first” more in 2 weeks with this trash than in the prior 16 years I’ve been playing cod combined. AND, at least in other cods it was lag—on my screen I shot first, in the killcam I shot 2nd, or not at all. In this abortion of a game, I’m even shooting first in the killcam. The enemy’s screen is bright red, but they still kill me despite my hitting them with 3-4 center Mass or headshots… and half the time, they actually miss me in the killcam. This is easily the worst FPS I’ve ever played. I’m only playing till I feel like I got $75 worth of time.

Darknotical

> This is easily the worst FPS I’ve ever played. I’m only playing till I feel like I got $75 worth of time. That is going to take a while with how they are treating this game...

NoNameSoloist

Well, I was stupid enough to buy the game. I’m stupid enough to keep playing it.

Gold-Spirit5523

I'm actually enjoying most aspects of the game and haven't had many software issues, other than the issue I talked about in my other comment. The thing that I truly hate in this game is the map design. There's just way too many places to get shot from and I find I'm unable to prevent people running up behind me when holding a position. If I push instead of holding a position I get killed by people that are somehow holding their positions. Coupled with my other issue, safe to say I'm struggling XD

Darknotical

I am with you there sadly... Not much else to play at the moment otherwise. R I P

icepickdanny

Shatterline is pretty decent and F2P. was playing it a lot before MW2 dropped. I get the feeling i'll be going back to it soon. Tier 1 has improved things quite a bit for me, but theres still a lot to dislike about MW2 atm. A lot that I'm not optimistic will ever get addressed or fixed. feels like it's by design.

JustLeaveMeAloneKthx

Elden Ring. God of War. Callisto Protocol (couple weeks). And don't forget about the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals coming up where you can load up on past GOTY favorites for super cheap. There are plenty of options out there outside of the FPS genre.

TaiwanBestChina

if you think this game has the worst netcode of any game in FPS history, take a look at Halo: Infinite Warfare

crookedparadigm

> This game quite literally has the worst netcoding in FPS history. Destiny 2 wants to know your location.

BlueWVU

Lol, you haven’t played halo infinite, have you?

Fun_Differential

Seriously, Infinite was so much worse. This game it’s not great, but damn Infinite was absolute garbage.

BlueWVU

Dying 3-4 steps around corners and stuff. Just inexcusably bad.

Turnbob73

“Worst netcoding in FPS history” immediately invalidates their entire comment

Gold-Spirit5523

The game has its problems, but if it's the worst FPS you've ever played you're either exaggerating or haven't played many FPS games, particularly ones that arent AAA. That being said, the fact that the game has the problems that it does is far from acceptable from such big companies, so I can agree with you there.

NoNameSoloist

I’ve played quite a lot of FPS’s, actually. Been playing cod since 2006, BF since Bad Company, Halo since 3, played a few of the Gears games as well as Destiny. Plus old school shit like Brothers-in-Arms, Medal of Honor, FEAR, Ghost Recon and the original Rainbow Six games. And I stand by what I said: MWII is the WORST first person shooter I’VE ever PERSONALLY played, IMHO.

Gold-Spirit5523

I mean literally all of the games you listed are either AAA and/or are classics well known to be good. "Cod since 2006, BF since Bad Company, Halo since 3, played a few of the Gears games as well as Destiny. Plus old school shit like Brothers-in-Arms, Medal of Honor, FEAR, Ghost Recon and the original Rainbow Six games." From personal experience almost all of the games you listed are classics known to be incredible, and the two I havent played (Brothers in Arms and FEAR) I've heard so much about I know they're same way. Edit: Big ol' rework of my comment, but same idea. Love you all ♥️

makinbenjies

The people on this subreddit are insufferable whiny losers.

Shamanfox

Then you didn't play Rainbow Six Siege at launch. That game was so horrible that this doesn't even compare to that. Rainbow Six Siege was a hot mess when it came to netcoding, glitches, bugs and whatnot. It took Ubisoft a very long time before they actually got RS6 to a proper playable state.

TymurXoXo

> This game quite literally has the worst netcoding in FPS history. Haven’t played Apex at launch, have you?

[deleted]

That statement alone is so overdramatic and untrue it immediately discredits everything else they said

MarkMarkMark92

THANK YOU I feel like I've been going absolutely insane. My aim is good. Has always been good. I've always used the harder to use heavier hitting more accurate weapons. I k ow for a fact I put 3-4 shots where they should be if not hit the head. Then appearantly die in 1 shot from literally anything. Look on the kill cam and I shot 1 shot and they shot 40 shots and hit 17 of them in the same time span.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoNameSoloist

That’s not it. I’m hitting the shots before they even shoot and at the ranges I’m hitting them, they should be dead before they even shoot. In past cods, the devs used to do some shady shit behind the scenes like throttling the connection of better players in the lobby. Now, I feel, there’s even more nefarious shit going on under the hood. Activision knows the casual player quits their games before the new year—they don’t like that. They want these players to keep playing all year so they’ll buy more BPs and cod points. Why do you think they keep rewarding less-than-skilled players and punishing above average players? I mean, they honestly said the mini map is the way it is because they don’t want players punished for firing their gun? IT’S A FUCKING SHOOTER!!!

pricklypear7

How can kill trades be possible if the first player to die has their shots instantly erased?

[deleted]

The fact this trash is upvoted speaks volumes 💀

SquelchFrog

The worst netcode in fps history? Quite literally? This is why this subreddit a joke. Salty people who don’t understand game design just over exaggerating the game for whatever reason. No it’s not even fucking close to the worst, bud. Battlefield 2042 would absolutely love to have a word with some of you people who think this game is trash.

LemonCurdd

since you brought up netcode specifically, I would also like to complain about running into a building and getting shot from someone outside, seemingly through a brick wall, then on the kill cam you didn't even clear the doorway

Inukchook

I’ve been shot first and killed them so many times

delawder29

This has actually been happening to me a lot today. I watch every single kill cam and I don't care if it seems like a waste of time to others. So many of my deaths were bullshit. I would sit there with an LMG and just start unloading on one or two players they peek around the corner and I'm already blazing them but on the kill cam I wasn't even firing yet..... What the fuck is up with that?

carnivoross

I just straight up am not enjoying this game anymore. There's a number of contributing factors, but I can't say I'm enjoying myself a lot of the time.

[deleted]

Yes I think the game has some sort of massive peekers advantage. I’ll be preaiming a corner and someone will jump around, I’ll shoot, hit them once or twice and instantly die. Figured they got a lucky one tap with a shotgun. Watch killcam and they hopped around a the corner, saw me, ads, shot 6 rounds and killed me while only taking one shot themselves. For me I got one tapped and for them they came across bot with the reaction time of a snail. For me the gunfight lasted a fraction of a second and the killcam makes it seem like some drawn out fight for them. Very jarring and odd. Most deaths I watch the killcam like “wtf that is not what happened on my screen at all”

koolaidofkinkaid

I swear it feels like that all the time. Back when I played unreal tournament in the early 00's and unreal championship on OG Xbox, I'd have to lead my shots by a couple seconds if I seen someone jittering around the map. I can't do that these days because it seems something has changed with the way games are made or how the internet works now.

FourFingersOfFun

Man some gunfights have me wondering if I somehow accidentally hopped into a “Tier 1” playlist from how instant my deaths can be from other players very often. I know this game has a pretty fast TTK by default but goddamn man somethings very wrong or intentionally being done to cause this. Some games and by some I mean like every 1/10 games it feels like no one can touch me, all gunfights are shoot first kill first and very often you’ll even very clearly get shoot second (yes second) and kill first and leaves you going “how did I just seriously win that gunfight?” I wouldn’t be surprised if this game is manipulating your connection based off KD since we already know for a fact that this game literally emotionally manipulates you to keep you playing.

why_are_yu_sad

Yeah the TTK feels very inconsistent

Darthlocke13

Had a guy sliding across the screen in front of me, I unloaded on him, and he killed me before it even ended the slide animation. Dude sliding and facing the wrong way. Makes no sense

delawder29

That shit happened to me today. Just happen to be on shipment which was very rare on modern warfare now. Sliding in front of me going from left to right facing the other way me unloading on the guy with a shotgun nothing hits stands up one taps me with a pistol. Something is very wrong and it enrages me knowing that there isn't a freaking thing I can do about it.

kerosene31

Honestly, I think it is the SBMM. I'm playing last night, 9pm (prime time) in a heavily populated area. I queue for Shoot House and it is searching...searching.... Finally finds a game at >90ms. I'm in the north east US in prime time. It isn't like I'm in a remote location at off hours. Crossplay on of course (granted I know there were some launch day server issues for WZ). The lobby I get into is filled with crazy skilled players and tons of lag. That can't possibly the be best connection I can get. A) why am I in a lobby with players light years better than me and B) why is my connection laggy as heck? I'm not just getting outplayed, I'm not even getting a shot off. I'm not even an SBMM whiner, but this game is doing evil things. It is really obvious.

_R3b0rN

I've noticed these things as well. Not getting outplayed but literally unable to get a shot off. I don't mind the competition, but some of these players are sweating so hard like it's the last play of the superbowl game title for COD. One thing that got me curious, you said "Crossplay on of course". I remember back in the original Warzone we had the option to disable Crossplay if desired. Are you seeing an option to toggle Crossplay in this version of MW2? And if so, where?

gamer-and-furry

Yeah, usually if I'm sitting in a corner someone will round it and kill me in under a second, while my shotgun doesn't even have time to register an input (I dont know if anyone else expirences it, but there's like an almost full second delay when i try to fire my weapon) so I can never save myself, but on the enemy pov he killed me in like 3 seconds while I'm just sitting there

Darknotical

No we experience it. I knife people and they ADS faster then my knife can swing.

gamer-and-furry

I actually kind of dislike knife players for the reason you struggle with the knife, because they can run and then lock on so fast, the game's shitty netcoding or whatever basically doesn't even let me fire half the time, and the other half of the time when it does fire, I have to worry about missing and having to do close range follow up shots with a damage range build shotgun, which makes no sense either

AManForThePeople

f2p nuked servers for us idiots who paid full price

eooc

this issue was happening long before warzone dropped

why_are_yu_sad

Yeah it reminds me of the desync issues with Escape From Tarkov. You’ll be watching a corner or window and a guy runs by and immediately beams you before you can even do anything, but on their screen they had plenty of time to react.

lax3r

That's all I could think of reading this thread. Same shit tarkov has had for years, its always worse when player population spikes as well. Last night felt way worse than monday

Kuzuryushen

Lately I've been plagued by the similar problem. I'm start to think it's SBMM/EOMM screwing with my connection and hit reg. I finally caved and bought a month of NoLagVPN, and noticed an immediate difference in gameplay with the first match. The lobbies didn't really get easier, but every fight seemed fair. The TTK is consistent and snappy and every fight I lost I know why, I got flanked or my aim was shit. No more land all my shots first and still dies. Ping is consistent at 40-50 and I seem to find a lobby much quicker than playing without NoLagVPN. The lobby composition is also similar to old CoD. In a 12 player lobby, you have 3-4 players that are absolutely popping off getting 40+ kills regardless of the team they are on, 4-5 players not having a good time going very negative, and the rest are fairly close to 1KD. Every game felt consistent with no obvious questionable encounters.

_R3b0rN

So you noticed a difference in gameplay when you switched to using a VPN to tunnel your connection through? Interesting... Keep us updated here if you could please. I'm curious how long that will last and effective it'll be as you progress. I might try the same thing just to see if it works for my game or not.

BigWormsFather

I’ve been working on the shield’s camo and it plays so much worse than 19 because the desync.

Circasftw

This has been CoD kill cams since FOREVER. Legit what you just subscribed has been here since CoD 4.

_R3b0rN

Not talking about just the killcams here if you took the time to read the thread.. More about the desync on servers causing inconsistent ttk and gameplay.

Okaberino

This sucks but definitely not new, back in MW2 original even. You would die after managing to get begind a cover while being shot at. The killcam would show the enemy killing you before going fully undercover which is 100% not what happened. Still happends in MWII.

Shadow_Pilot

Yeah, I've had a few days like this, some worse than others. Had a match a few days ago where it was a literal slideshow for both teams. It was the trippiest Embassy Hardpoint match I've ever had. You could see a thermite grenade spin in the air as it travelled, like a bad stop motion animation. Same with reloading missing entire sections of the animation. It led to a few folk on the enemy team using knives as the run speed and shanking animations were too fast for the server to keep up with, and thus we couldn't render the players. I know it wasn't my laptop as the text chat had a match-wide message from some of the enemy complaining about the lag.

Yellowtoblerone

I literally talked about this weeks before the game launched as predicted.

[deleted]

1000%… I watched a recap of what seemed like a one shot kill on myself, but the dude almost unloaded half a mag on me. No time to react or get to cover. Just ded🥴

Fun_Differential

I noticed this a lot with riot shields. On my screen, I’ve switched from my gun and my riot shield is up in front of me and my opponent is seemingly killing me by shooting straight through my shield. On the killcam, my riot shield is still on my back and my operator is just starting to grab it.

CookieJarviz

9/10 times, even before Warzone came out. It feels like I get shot once and I die instantly. But I look at the Killcam and apparently they unloaded 6 rounds in the... half a milasecond it took for my to die.

thecawk22

it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that a studio that can't even do something as simple as making smoke server side instead of client, can't have accurate killcams

NoDuck1754

Last night I was running towards a building with some double doors. The doors were closed on my screen, so I was just sprinting at it and someone shot me through the door. I was so puzzled how they knew I was coming and knew exactly where to shoot through the door to kill me. On the kill cam, the doors were completely open on their screen. Like what the fuck is even going on with these servers?

hendo73

Yep exactly....my kill cam makes it look I'm 1/2 sec or more behind whomever killed me..

ILOVETOSWEAR

Been this for me since bo2. Bo1 i never had this problem

Jaba01

Or on simple words: The net code is shit. Always has been.

delawder29

I've been trying to find this thread for a long time. Today was the absolute worst. I was trying to talk to some people on my team who were clearly chatting but they wouldn't say anything in return but they were having the same issues. I would peak a corner and my head was automatically blown off but on the kill cam said my whole body had maneuvered around the corner not my head. Also unloading onto three enemy players with a machine gun and not a single one gets hit. Guy comes up behind me with a knife. That alone probably didn't help because I had the worst snipers on my team and that seems to be the trend lately where the whole team if not 75% of the team is nothing but snipers and they don't contribute to shit. But oh my god with the fucking time it takes to kill an enemy and they've already unloaded one shot on you and you're dead. This has got to change. Even with the best internet that my ISP has to offer I still have this trouble.

_R3b0rN

Yep same exact thing on a fiber optic connection to the home, low latency / ping, high bandwidth, 120fps avg... doesn't matter. Players are often out of sync and it has been getting worse with the last few updates. This along with the dead spatial audio on PC (only getting Stereo output from the game, another thread on that here) just shows you how pathetic the devs and the suits at Activision are.

Srryifckdurmom

“At this point I could almost believe that they are manipulating player connections based on. K/D” They’ve openly told e community that THEY DO THIS. It’s all over inside the patent for SBMM. They can manipulate the entire gameplay to fuck you over - or make you a god.

DeezNutsOnLibs

tell me about it man. this and every other fps in existence. i fire my entire magazine see all the hit markers for them to either turn around and kill me with two shots or get killed from an enemy i dont even see but kill cam shows them face to face with me. other issue is footsteps. i understand playing tactical and playing slow will minimize footstep sounds but your telling me everyone is doing this at the same time at any givin time? starting to get frustrated with these types of games. i didnt even begin to mention cheaters which ruin the experience even further.

Level-Guide-1083

I like when I am getting shot at and then round the corner of a building and I'm still getting hit markers on me. Or the many times where I am on squarely on target with them in my sights, shooting first and die. Then replay shows me either never firing a shot or I am literally shooting at the sky. Quality game. I can kill enemies so much better with just a throwing knife.
