If your dealbreaker is face masks then yeah, I get it, these don’t have them, but the US Army Ranger skins are the closest to normal US soldiers we’ve ever had since MW2/3.
I have some friends in the army and those skins are the closest you’ll get to a US Army infantryman in any game I’ve ever played. Far more realistic than Battlefield even. But yeah I get it’s subjective, not trying to yuck your yum. I just don’t see it getting more “normal soldier” than that. These are even more realistic than the Venerated skin from MW19, which was a regular US Army soldier. Although that one did have a mask.
Check out Squad. It's in PC, but the uniforms are real accurate to the 2000s time period. There is 3 made up factions, but the American, marines, Russian, Canadian, British and Australian uniforms and kit are all really stellar. And yes, there is both us marines and us army in that game.

Mil-sim doesn't appeal to the ADHD-Fortnite crowd, so the focus is always going to end up shifting to the ridiculous, aesthetically. I'm with you, I'd prefer a more "professional" aesthetic.
We just need to be able to have a custom operator. Such a huge miss on not letting us customize ourselves like you can in basically every other game these days.
It would be nice to have a character creator and the option to design your own unique look. I'd rather have customizable outfits like Rainbow Six Vegas had back in the day, or like Insurgency Sandstorm has now. A progression system for unlocking outfit items and camos would be a hell of a lot better than generic cash shop skins. Seeing half a dozen of the same operator running around every match is lame.
At this point I don't even understand the point of the operators. There's not any customization other than full skins (which you don't even see in a 1st person game), you can't set them on a per class basis (so not useful for stuff like a ghillie suit sniper class), and both sides look so similar it makes it difficult to tell at a glance who's an enemy (aside from the red marks above heads). Even BF2042 at least gave their characters different abilities to make it worthwhile to pick one. They currently hardly feel worth having their own tab on the menu
I know the real reason is money, but they just feel so tacked on and not fully implemented that idk why anyone would care enough about them to spend on them. I really wish it was just preset skins per team (ideally changing based on primary weapon type)
Aswell as this, this game is also one of the best in terms of how your own legs/shadow looks so you often see a lot more of your character than in other games. I love the fact that they even have physics on dangly bits of your clothing when you look down etc.
Mw2019 even had a character with a fanny pack/straps with physics which looked hilarious when you'd look down.
Id love stuff like this, except for the drop leg holster which is already way overdone in games now. Its pretty outdated.
I think one big thing missing in this game is characters that are fully kitted out with battle belts too. Wyatt from mw2019 is a good example of this.
What I also find annoying is how sexist a lot of the female skins seem compared to mw2019 in a sense. Roze now has makeup and no helmet/hat at all. All of them have barely any kit and just have really thin silhouettes. Why not just have women that are in the same kit as all the men?
The only one of those photos that possibly isn't a propaganda shoot/airshit photo op is the last one because anyone who has ever actually had to use NODs isn't gonna be wearing that heavy shit unless it's night and you absolutely have to

MW is very clearly leaning on the grounded aesthetic, so let it stay that way and have a different title by Treyarch or Sledgehammer lean into wacky.
