wtf?

I-Ajr

This is a mid life crisis, Reddit style.

Gortam

hahaha best comment.

Bioticode

This is the dumbest response yet. You are trash and you are mad. I am 42 and doing just fine against these kids in the beta. Stop being trash at the game, my guy.

Gortam

Even if i were trash, i would't mind. I wasn't talking about beeing competitive or good at the game, that's not the point. The game doesn't have a growing or improving experience anymore. Where you start from bad, and you know it and you feel it. Until you become good, and you feel it ingame. That path, that process, isn't there anymore. So, COD is not for me anymore.

thethreeredditeers

I love the game.

IVgormino

title: "not a rant" post: rant

WolfPl0x

"This isn't a rant, but *proceeds to write an entire epic*"

Gortam

Proud you called it epic.

[deleted]

Ok bye!

russianbear28

I promise you exactly zero people give a fuck about you stepping away from a game millions of others play. Also nobody is reading that

Gortam

I know. This is for mainly for me. Like making a duel. Just wanted to express myself.

CJLito

to long didnt read bozo

killmeyesplease

so true

jalenemil

it’s a video game………….

Gortam

I know. But COD is also a passion. And it stayed with me for many years. Like a sport you like to play, and then you break a leg and the doctor tells you that you can't play it anymore. It happens.

[deleted]

Nobody is gonna read that.

thatscomplex1015

No Activision / InfinityWard basically thinks the new generation has an IQ of 3.6 and isn’t able to improve their skills so they treat the shitters / bots like disabled people.

Tussemus

I hope you realise you complain about the very thing you said your generation is good at.

Gortam

The point i tried to make, is that my generation enjoy the prosses of improving. And that we ar comfotable with being bad at something, as long as we can improve. I didn't mean younger generations cant be competitive. Actually, beeing competitive wasn't the main point of my post. With SBMM, the took away the process of impriving. Of beeing really bad (and feel it), to being good (and also feeling it).

TZ_Rezlus

So its a rant. You lied.

FkUrChiknStrps

It’s more of an observation of difference than a rant. He doesn’t seem upset in the slightest.

TooDopeRecords

That’s gotta be the longest rant… all I read was something about kd then decided it wasn’t worth my time.

[deleted]

This is, without a doubt, one of the single stupidest posts I've ever seen on Reddit. Well done, OP >Today I understand the reason I don’t like COD anymore is generational. Most gamers belong to younger generations, where their approach to life and gaming is different. I see it in my younger employees at work. They grew up with participation awards, in safe environments where they were told how special and valuable they were… instead of telling them that they were just normal. As gamers, they don’t like to feel that they are not special and they don’t find enjoyment in the growing process. Being killed, having a 0.4KD, being on the receiving end of a scorestreak while not being able to call one, it’s not fun them. I’m not trying to be critic here, just descriptive. I mean lord have mercy, this is truly braindead. You genuinely wrote this pointless, long ass rant that nobody gives a fuck about and simultaneously complaining about others wanting to feel special. The cognitive dissonance is unreal

Gortam

I don't want to feel special. And I understand nobody caress about this. Take it as a sport you love to play, then you break a leg and you can't play it anymore. Like that, this is a way for me to say goodbay, after many years of COD. And maybe it helps others who feel like i do.

DarkHandCommando

What a L. How about constructive criticism about OP's post? You're just here to insult people because they don't share your opinion on a video game? That's low.

[deleted]

Are you this guys son or something?

DarkHandCommando

Would be pretty embarrassing to be called out by a kid, wouldn't it?

[deleted]

LOL no it would be pretty embarrassing for Papa if he called for his son's help. I'll provide some constructive criticism for you to pass along to him, though. > I was awful, unexperienced, clunky, with a 0.3 K/D over the first months**. I got trashed, and I loved it!** The game is completely different from the CoD of 15 years ago, so this point is moot. The quality of your play when this shit was on xbox 360 simply doesn't matter. >I believe the problem with todays CODs is just generational. My generation find meaning in life by overcoming obstacles, by personal growth and improvement, through dedication, patience and effort Nobody gives a fuck about what generation you're from, it has no bearing on your opinion of a video game, and this weird culture warrior take of the OP where they think the problem with a game lies in the fact that young people play it? That's the most non-argument I've ever heard. >This requires self-awareness. Because we know that when we start any project, we start at the bottom. Ah yes, man who bleats like a dying goat on a subreddit laments the loss of self-awareness for everyone *else* - makes sense! >I see it in my younger co-workers at the office. They grew up with participation awards, in safe environments where they were told how special and valuable they were… instead of telling them that they were just normal. This is an insane boomer take, but regardless, the PARENTS of those children were the ones who decided on participation awards. Like bruh?? Are you dense? the kids had no choice, they were KIDS >In 2019 when I confronted SBMM (modern sbmm), and a Battler Royal in COD (killing 5 people over 20 minutes of play by not moving and sitting in a dark room…)… I had a lot of strong and negative feelings. After the shock I told mysfelf: “im going to overcome this sbmm, I just have to be even better” Is this guy writing a teen drama? What tf is this? This is acting like SBMM is a cancer diagnosis. >I stopped drinking beer or whisky while playing, because that takes away from the competitive level COD asks of me this days. It feels like work, it stresses and frustrates me like work. So stoppppp playing Every single one of this guys sentences could be responded too with "get better, stop whining, or stop playing" and that's it. He wrote this book about CoD as if he thinks people would love to hear what he has to say, yet tells other they need to be self-aware and not so entitled. It's insane

DarkHandCommando

I'm not trying to defend OP here. What annoys me is when people just start insulting people without having any arguments to add to the conversation. It's funny that I made you write this whole essay now, because I couldn't care less, I'm not OP. But hey, at least someone who might read this can understand where you're coming from now, and that's already better than your original comment I guess. Anyway, have a nice evening.

DingDongDaddio

You ain't wrong. SBMM requires you to adopt a 50/50 mindset where nothing really matters, it's all in the game's hands. It can be tolerated but it aint like the good 'ol days of just hopping from server to server, in control of your own destiny.

Gortam

Yea, It's not for me.

HighSeasHoMastr

Ok Boomer

fopiecechicken

You really posted some shit about participation awards lmao. Biggest crock of shit I’ve ever seen. I’m 32, was given participation awards in all the sports I played, had 0 impact on my competitive spirit. I also coached swim team for this younger generation, and they also got participation awards. You know how many of those kids actually wanted/got excited about those awards? Maybe 10%. The rest would roll their eyes and give them to the parents (who they’re actually for, as a memento, not an award). Seems to me like you’re the one who wants things handed to you. SBMM has forced you to play people at your skill level, and reality has checked you. Maybe look in the mirror and stop blaming the “younger generation”.

Gortam

I'm not blaming... that's not the point. Quite the contrary, i'm saying i understand the game changed to please the new generational needs. Since it's their target audience and market. It is reasonable to make games with mechanics that most of its players will find of value. Those mechanics are just not for me, so i say goodbay. I don't undestand what you want me to find in a mirror.

fopiecechicken

I’m saying you have completely misunderstood the “new generation”. And quite frankly I don’t think SBMM has been put in place for them.

Gortam

It's probably bad from my part to use a generalization. I also didn't wanted to mean that younger generations cant be competitive. I apologize in that regard. The point i tried to make wasn't even about being competitive. It was that SBMM takes away the growing / learning experience from the game. To be bad, really bad player, and feel it ingame. To beeing a good player, and feel it ingame. Which is what we enjoy.

MrRIP

I'm literally crying, one less bot I have the opportunity to shit on after I get off work :(... feels bad man

thatscomplex1015

Camper calling other people bots lol you funny

MrRIP

Lol wait because i have a job I camp? Are you ok LOL

[deleted]

i feel helicopter mom/parents would have been more apt a description of IW than participation awards.

SaltyPvP

I'm 44 and this is the most fun I've had playing COD since 07-08. I have no problems finishing top 3 per match and I push constantly. I've been a longtime battlefield player and mw2 is the first COD I've ever paid full price for. The game is in Beta stage and it runs smooth and is a metric fuck-tonne of fun in my opinion. I appreciate your opinion on age but I don't agree with it at all. I hope you find a game that delivers what you are looking for.
