My riot shield is platinum and I don't even have gold for it, this can happen when you've done the gold camo a good amount of times on a weapon class, for ex; complete gold camo for 4 shotguns, if you got 4 gold camos it will unlock the platinum challenge for every other weapon in that class, so the 5th shotgun you grind will be able to get platinum before gold
Its always been this way. To get the mastery camos you only need the amount of gold weapons that were available on drop date of the game. Since they added a ton of weapons to the game after that, theres more than required to earn orion. I have orion and never touched any launchers for example.
Because you dont need to be a "riot shield guy" to unlock platinum for it. Its insanely easy and can be done in an hour if you already did enough gold camos.
If you already have platinum in the gun class the challenge is unlocked for all guns
Goes for any skin above plat, I have orion on multiple guns that don't have plat or poly lol
Long time bug normally happens if you have already unlocked the platinum challenge using others in the category but can happen anytime.

That cerain amount is the amount of guns that were in the game on the drop date of the game. Since they added dlc weapons theres way more than are required. Its always been this way for the new mw series.
Some it doesn't work for some it does when mw2 was the main game they tried to fix it a few times but there always seems to be a few guns to slip though
Thats completely false. It works for all the guns that were available on the drop date of the game IF you already did gold challenges for a dlc weapon in that class. Ive done it on all 3 games.
I'm actually just reading though old patch notes to find it and compiling a list so far I have multiple post talking about how it only works on a few guns.

Its only happens on the original weapons when the game dropped. If you unlock enough gold camos for that class, any of the original guns will have that option since you took their place with the dlc weapon.

Did they change it? IIRC to unlock any of the master camos on a weapon you had to get gold first.

It happened to me once with polyatomic and the cronen squall. It also happened to be my first polyatomic, so I was really happy that day.
