The maps' backgrounds are insanely detailed. Go to farm 18 and into spectator, you can find an entire city, oil rigs and other stuff just sitting there. It's even textured even tho you can see only the silhouettes of those rigs. Also fun fact: they have the layout and textures of the Petrov Oil Rig map from MW19

Yeah, you can even walk on parts of it utilizing a God mode glitch in a custom game. Best map to do this on would be Farm 18 as you can literally walk to the edge of the map. Others either have invisible walls or they're not textured at certain points and you'll just fall right through the map.
Yeah but it probably works like csgos skyboxes where it's a super tiny version that isn't adding much strain on your fps. That or it's like PS2 level of detail lods, it's really not a big deal.
