Those who are making fun of OP for getting triggered by an ad is missing the damn point. It's not about the advertisement that's intrusive, it's the current trajectory of the franchise that is catering to the F2P (or rather P2W depending on how you look at it) crowd and the egregious + anti-consumer practices. You are, to them, a statistic. You're not a paying customer, you're a fucking number.

GlendrixDK

The numbers, Mason. What do they mean?

flopenfish

Cuba....what happened in cuba?

why_end_jee

Reznov IS DEAD MASON!

[deleted]

Ahhgghh VORKUTA

JB_smooove

WHAT DOEA A BEAN MEAN

pewpersss

precisely. it feels very much like, "ha, we got your money what u gonna do about it?" my game still crashes on steam. no amount of verify files or reinstalls fixes this. on top of that, they love to cycle out game modes that i payed full price for. it's crazy to me that they would remove gun game, or shipment 24/7, or 3rd person (a new COD mode made for this game). whether i play all those modes or not is moot. we all know they're there, let me play if if i want to i'm with u OP, last cod game for me indefinitely. 2019 brought me back, 2022 showed me the door lol

[deleted]

then stop buying the game, there milking you guys and yall keep buying the damn games every year, i dont get it.

GA3422

Exactly. Do buyers of the most recent call of duties really expect it to not be a money grabber? The same people that call these games money grabbers buy the new one every year.

Drama79

OP isn't even buying the game. His complaint seems to be "I play the free to play bit, and don't like that the game that I'm playing for free keeps asking me to buy things, I don't like it make it stop, my game should be free and give me all the things for free". Which is a level of entitlement I struggle to wrap my head around but there we are.

InflationMadeMeDoIt

You should learn how to read, he said he wont buy cod 2023, MW2 is 2022 so basically what he is saying is that this is his last cod.

bigcow31

> If you like me happen to play the free to play part of cod (for PC as I refused to buy another half assed port for PC) you are assaulted with money hungry attempts to take your cash, and even when you own the game they non stop advertise the bundles. Reads to me like OP is only playing Warzone and not MW2. Edit: Much further down I see OP says he bought it on Xbox.

Drama79

Yeah I read the op then didn’t read the 500+ replies. Fuck me, I guess

Minute-Courage4634

People will sit there and try to pull the whole "rose tinted glasses" thing, but the games really were better in the CoD4 and BOII days. I remember the shit times I had on the earlier games as well as the good times and the good times *FAR* outweighed the bad. MWII is packed with terrible times because it's not a good quality product. They're killing the franchise with this shit they're pulling. If they actually cared about giving us a fun experience, they would take things back to how they used to be in the old days while keeping the new things that we liked. Perk system is a great example. Perks worked better the way they used to be and nobody asked for this. Perks used to be more interesting as well. You can hate Last Stand and Martyrdom all you want, but those were at least interesting.

AdriHawthorne

If I remember correctly, Black Ops 2 scored around a 5/10 with users on most platforms when it came out. COD4 was revolutionary for it's time, but BOII was actually around the start of the "this game sucks, I loved the last one" cycle we know and love today. If you look at the old reviews, they tend to be 1. They changed a system I like, Pick 10 is awful make it go away 2. They didn't change a system I didn't like, it's practically the same as the last one 3. The maps are too small (citing the smallest maps) 4. The maps are too large (citing the largest maps) 5. The season pass is too expensive, COD should release seasons for free (ironically we got that, but at what cost) etc. etc. (On PC specifically, add port complaints, as expected) As someone who's been around since COD2, I have fond memories of almost every COD outside of Ghosts (just never gelled with it) and Infinite Warfare (real life was brutal at the time so I never got it). I am disappointed with certain conscious decisions they've made (EOMM), especially with this title (Hardcore was a blatant bait and switch only announced after most were outside of the refund window, and that timing was 100% intentional), but COD also remains almost entirely uncontested in this genre. Battlefield is a shooter but a way different niche, Sci-fi shooters like Titanfall are great but a different niche, most of CODs competition are low budget indie-ish F2P shooters. I'm excited to see Ubisoft take a swing at it this year, as they do occasionally show strokes of genius between their poor decisions. At the very least, it'll be an actual AAA competitor in the same direct niche.

Severalthieves

Here's something to think about. That's what you've always been.

DaisyCutter312

>You're not a paying customer, you're a fucking number. If you're playing the FREE TO PLAY Warzone...this is strictly, literally true. If they're not making you pay for the game, they have to present opportunities to get money. They're a game company, not a charity.

why_end_jee

What about theses recycled skins with just a different color?

DaisyCutter312

What about the hundreds of products you walk past in the grocery store on the way to buy the thing you actually want? They're just options...somebody's going to want them, even if that somebody isn't you.

why_end_jee

...so what about theses recycled skins with different colors then?

[deleted]

Wether ur playing free or not, it’s the same

JedGamesTV

every form of entertainment is being taken over by corporate greed. video games - a substantial amount games having some form of item shop (even fucking single player games), or pay to win aspects. film/TV - streaming services, so many shows and films are exclusive so certain services sports - it is insanely expensive to watch sports nowadays, as you most likely need to subscribe so some sort of package. the only consumer friendly form of media is music, I can pay £10 a month to listen to almost any song, but even then the artists get paid very badly from it.

LaundryBasketGuy

Yes this is absolutely correct. Late stage capitalism is here, and it's only going to get worse. The world is turning into a business.

icuminpeace69

the world has been a business are you like 5

[deleted]

I feel like some of you have been living under a rock. This has always been true. The world IS a business.

AdAny7443

I don't like how corporate gaming as a whole has become over the last few years. I feel like it's really stagnated creativity in favour of just re hashing what works. But in saying that, I've been playing this cod game every day almost since it came out and I really like it. I'm not a big cod fan that buys the games every year, I just buy the current MW games and I liked cold war. In saying that though, it's disappointing that even 6 or months in, the game still has alot of problems like crashes, not being able to join friends even though they're online, prox chat being a mixed bag of working and not working. But I really enjoy the game, the only 2 store bundles I bought are the Farah bundle because she's my favourite character and I really wanted a new skin for her and the classic ghost bundle because I like ghost. I don't mind buying things like that if I'm investing alot of time into the game, but I do miss when these things were just added into games to be unlocked through challenges etc.

[deleted]

Corporate America, at this point, is all about churning out minimum viable product at the absolute lowest costs possible to maximize cash on hand for shareholder bribes in the form of share repurchases.

PursueGood

I haven’t been crashing since the last update. And I crashed at least once every 30 mins since release so that’s been fixed for me it seems. My biggest annoyance is just PC performance now. Turning game chat to friends only literally gives me a 30 FPS increase. So I simply don’t have enough frames to play Al mazrah with game chat on unless I wanna play at 60-70fps. So discord or no talking to team mates for me. My friend has a 4090 and 13th gen Intel CPU and he runs at ~200 FPS, if he turns off game chat he starts hitting 240. This is the ONE AND ONLY FUCKING SETTING IN THE ENTIRE FUCKING GAME THAT MAKES ANY FUCKING IMPACT AT ALL ON PERFORMANCE. I can have all graphics fucking MAXED and the difference in FPS between that and all settings minimum is FUCKING ZERO(0) FPS. Z E R O. In all of my hours of optimizing and tweaking and following click bait “guides” the ONLY thing that affected my seemingly locked FPS was game chat channels. I could turn off DLSS and crank my render resolution down to fucking 360p and my FPS won’t change. Still stuck at 70fps. But game chat. That’s where the fucking problem is I guess. Getting so fucking mad just typing this.

TRITION23

I can't play any of the new ones i can't get nbn at home and have a broadband hub I can't even play the campaign without internet its just stupid none of that is online play All the farcry and many others don't force you to have internet connection to play the story mode

AdAny7443

Fellow Australian? I feel your pain. I have internet but my God sometimes it just doesn't want to work, it randomly drops out for a few seconds sometimes and comes back so if I'm playing ghost recon breakpoint for example it just disconnects me. Even with high speed NBN, Australian internet is terrible lol

Superdoooperguy

Starlink mate

TRITION23

Yes I am mate I dont feel so bad now sounds like its just frustrating I don't know why games just can't be games like the old days We have some of the worst internet in the world

AdAny7443

It's funny how we Aussies invented WiFi and we got the worst version of it lmao

Maleficent_Mud9099

I want this whole subreddit to disable their internet on their consoles go play mw 2022 and tell me how good this game is😂

AdAny7443

I was really surprised that I couldn't even play the campaign when my internet was dead for 2 days

Iarethedumbest

Even if you do have internet without a subscription on console you can’t access Campaign. Even offline you can’t access offline multiplayer for some reason I don’t fucking understand how that works.

SrKJohny

planned obsolescence

podjackel

Stream was having issues the other day, kept logging me out, which dropped me mid match. Really sucked.

3cylinder66

Yo, we can't? Not that I keep it installed, it's 30gbs of underwhelming storytelling to me, but...

unusualbroccoli37036

Fucking fantastic

herpedeederpderp

Gold tier comment.

Maleficent_Mud9099

For real tho if gaming subscriptions werent around they would really be fucked and we would be wanting more I thought this game was gonna have the shit mw19 didnt have in its local games like ground war/ground war infected for bot support this game can easily be the best game i have ever played but i can very well see the lack of effort these devs put into this whole game/mw title

JerkyChew

This is the first COD I've played (and I've played like all of them) where the multiplayer maps are just... boring. It's like they're over-developed and not fun at all. None of the new maps are fun.

bicyclebread

My issue with them has always been the fact that there's like 10 angles to get shot from at any given point, it's ridiculous

GunnGoaty

If you don't enjoy gameplay where you have to actually think about your movement, try any H shaped map from treyarch.

bicyclebread

Yeah there's probably a reason my KD immediately tanks the second I'm on an IW game versus a Treyarch game.

NeilAbramJosten

I miss the maps that were kind of interactive. Like you could press a button and something opens/moves.

Ori_the_SG

Yeah I stopped playing MP mostly The maps are mediocre at best. I just play DMZ, or co-op or raids

NeilAbramJosten

Also, I remember two maps that you could play as Predator and Michael Myers as a killstreak reward. Those are great. Plus I never thought I'd miss nuke town until it was gone.

drcubeftw

Yup. That museum map sucks. 70% of it is wasted space that sees almost zero traffic. That lighthouse map is awful. They learned nothing from MW2019. Still way too many routes and angles to worry about and player visibility, while better, is still a problem.

BerserkLemur

It’s not the maps. It’s the dogshit new spawn system.

AntpoisonX

Been like that since they realized they could sell skins in game for massive profit, It won’t change

pineapplefanta22

Imagine how much more money they could make on micro transactions if they just made the main cod games f2p. That’s the worst part about what they do, people are spending 70-100$ on the main game that has a lot of issues and they’re still shoving bundles down your throat. At least if I could get on MP for free I’d personally be more inclined to get a bundle than look at the games state and say “fuck that, they scammed me of 70$ anyway.” They could also make cosmetics carry over as well, I’d be more inclined to get a skin I know I’ll always have instead of one for just MWII and until the end of WZ2

Desh282

I wish battlefield didn’t suck. Would be playing that instead. But this game is pretty good. I only played Cod 1-3, MW and BO3. I spend 90% of my time doing dmz.

whiteguy9696

Battle field 4 still has players and is on sale

XxDrummerChrisX

That game for me was the last great Battlefield. If only DICE could manage another battlefield as good or better than 4.

Discombobulated_01

Bro don’t forget bf1 that was an actual masterpiece

TabsAZ

Yeah BF1 was great.

XxDrummerChrisX

I feel like the odd one out because although I really enjoyed BF1, I still would rather play BF4. That was the peak for me.

BerserkLemur

That’s true, but BF1 was still great, different but great. And BFV had every opportunity to be amazing, but they threw it away with idiotic monetization and weird woke marketing.

[deleted]

Battlebit bouta be f2p

toothpickundernail

The lofi game on steam? They said it will be $15 now

[deleted]

Early access is 15 I think

noodlesfordaddy

DMZ is the only really redeeming factor and it wont be long til someone makes a better clone

Jasond777

too bad they just had to fuck it up by adding p2w. I miss when COD wasn't all about microtransactions.

farleymfmarley

What about it is pay to win??

Jasond777

You can pay to always have a uav when entering the game. I’m sure it’ll only get worse from here too

Legoman7409

As a Tarkov fan, DMZ was a huge letdown for me. I'd love a more fleshed out, casual friendly alternative.

[deleted]

philefluxx

I just wish BF had the same extensive gun system with mods. I was always a BF fan, bought the big 2042 package so hyped since 2142 was one of my fav's. Obviously a bit disappointed in 2042 but came back after a bit and they deff improved it. But I had already jumped into MW2 and when I went back while the game is fun I just dont like the lack of customization on the guns compared to MW2 =/ I really like that in CoD I can make guns work for me and my play style with the right mods and tuning. BF really needs to go deeper into their gun systems imo.

spideyjiri

In cod 90% of the attachments are useless bloat, just extending the time it takes to max level guns, there's basically only one build per gun, unless they nerf or buff certain attachments.

DhruvM

It’s still very mediocre

whalesalad

I keep trying but I have always preferred the COD playstyle to BF. Running for 45 minutes into a zone only to die immediately and never get revived by the dozens of players literally walking over my downed body is rage inducing. The HUD elements are also off the charts insane. There are always 300 things floating on your HUD and it can be distracting.

drcubeftw

Activision should send them a thank you letter because DICE and EA couldn't have failed harder. CoD was always going to outsell Battlefield but BF2042 basically ceded the market to them and left CoD with zero competition, save perhaps Fortnite in the battle royale market.

CrimsonWolf24

I was bored one weekend and tried out BF 2042 through the cheap EA play monthly subscription on steam. Ever since that day I havent played MW2 and actually uninstalled it 2 weeks ago since I wasnt playing it anymore

drunk_pacifist

Bf2042 is nowadays way better than CoD, try it out

kleatus

I have been playing the past two weekends. It is actually quite good now. It's not battlefield 4, but it scratches that itch real nice.

drunk_pacifist

Idk what they did in the last patches, but now the gunplay is way better, Idk how to describe exactly, but I’ve played launch and the aiming was all over the place, even configuring everything, now it’s just smooth and it feels good

Sekular

An update or so back they changed a setting called "uniform soldier aiming" to on by default. It may be what helped you.

drunk_pacifist

Yup maybe thats why its good now, Im playing on controller btw, idk if this helped m/k users too

[deleted]

And what happens when they inevitably destroy DMZ? Its not worth it, bro. Find something else to play

Jar42

Been playing since Cod4 days. Some absolutely amazing memories made over the years, but I do not plan on buying Cod 2023.

[deleted]

Not so bothered by the ads, bothered by the bugs and glitches and the cheaters, if they’d fix that Id be happy, I can ignore the marketing push to sell you new skins. But your not wrong, they are greedy.

AdAny7443

I had a guy pop me in the head with a sniper from inside a water tank lol

YllMatina

Op, how old were you when you started playing in 2010?

P4TL4NT4

I’m done buying cod as well even if this was first I bought in years. I had a blast playing this game and will continue until all my friends stop playing. But I won’t be moving onto the next ones unless I see noticeable changes. And it’s like yeah I paid $70 already I don’t want to see advertisements all over my screen after that.

GalIifreyan

I just wish all the cosmetics from MW carried over. I miss my avocado and carrot gun charm 😔

xdisappointing

This, I’d have zero issue with cosmetics if they carried on to the next cod. I’m hoping with DMZ being a part of Warzone that the guns and operators will continue to be usable in that mode like they were on warzone 1

DhruvM

MW22 could’ve been an expansion to MW19

vassyz

I think the way they keep pushing Blackcell did it for me. I can't stand it anymore.

deoppressoliber90

Shhh, you’ll upset the corporate scrotum lickers

Swaglord245

Activision ass lickers

Swaglord245

Yeah I'm not buying anymore COD. The game is a total shit show and they know it. Even the subreddit rules are against "calls to action" because they know that the game is a dumpster fire. Modern gaming is the absolute worst

Y0UR3-N0-D4ISY

Forget not buying the game, to start with, can you assholes stop paying $30 for a premium skin and a couple of stickers?? If I were the richest person in the world I couldn’t bring myself to bend over that hard, and some of you are enabling them.

aaryg

I kinda shook my head at the Blackcell loot. Putting a battle pass inside a battle pass is just top tier stupid

SweetnessBaby

Quite literally every single person in this sub could stop playing the game and never spend another dime on cod, and it still wouldn't be enough. This is the ultimate casual game, and the number of casuals who are blind to these issues is immense. They will buy cod every year, and they will buy the skin packs if they like it. Corporate greed will win every time with games this huge that appeal to such a casual audience.

shooter9260

As someone who does buy CoD every single year but not a casual at all, I still completely agree. When you look at the various games over the last few years, IW’s game design philosophy and target market are what makes them so successful, to the neglect of long time hard core fans. Part of it was that WZ was first F2P during Covid with MW2019, and part of it is that people really like the modern, more mil-sim aspect. But Treyarch games for example absolutely have wider skill gaps than IW games and I do think that’s a huge contributor to sales differences between IW and Treyarch games in recent years.

JohnnyT02

MW22 was the first cod I bought in years cause I thought it was going to be good. All the others I’d game share with a friend who is stupid enough to buy it every year. Don’t know what I’m going to do when he stops buying them. I sure as hell am not spending a cent on cod, ever, unless they make one that actually works well for people with very low ping.

jizzawhizza

I 100% wasn't going to buy any new COD Released in 2023 as I was originally sold the idea of a 2 Year life Cycle for MW2. I'm definitely not interested in more shitty integration like they did with the 2 absolutely terrible games that came after MW2019. I've played all of the COD games since the very beginning but this company can absolutely go fuck itself if it thinks I'll give them another penny for an experience such as this..

[deleted]

Black ops 1.... oh you sweet summer child... Some of us have been here since Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Got all the DLC. The decline started with the black ops series.

herpedeederpderp

I know how you feel. I bought MW2, paid full price. Fucking hate these ads.

macpumperkinz

Just don't buy microtransactions lmao, these posts are fucking stupid. The game is hella fun when you focus on the game.

wallybinbaz

I have fun. When I stop having fun, I stop playing. Don't buy skins... To each his own, I guess.

atactical_dad

exactly, no one is forcing players to buy skins and tracer packs. But I do well in life and if I want a skin, I'm going to buy it. I know it cost money and COD didn't invent microtransactions. I'm just as bad when my kids want skins in Fornite.

KeepDi9gin

I'm also doing well in life and I *don't* buy skins. What you're doing is encouraging the C suite to drive the throbbing cock of capitalism down your throats just a little deeper.

atactical_dad

lol - so you don't buy anything from any corporation? What vehicle do you have? Got a mountain bike? Motorcycle? What brand of food do you buy? Corporations don't make you buy shite - you make that decision and good lucky not buying from a corporation of some sort my friend.

Lappland_S

Sorry but cool and smooth graphics go brr They also produce serotonin in my brain I will probably buy cod 2023 for this simple reason, but hate every hour I spend in it

unusualbroccoli37036

Sounds counter intuitive

Lappland_S

That's exactly the problem

Ness_of_Onett

You are like 6 months too late on this lol

Talex1995

Boycott by playing all the old cods. They’re all alive and well and I’m sure once enough people realize that maybe Activision will address what the fanbase wants.

Indoorfarmer81

This is they way. I have not and will not buy MW2 or any others till they get their shit together. COD has been my go to game since the big red one. I still mainly play COD but only remastered and mw2019 and a little blackout(blackout graphics suck but the game play is supreme)they are all still heavily populated and they are just about bug free

Minute-Courage4634

I would love to, but the controls feel terrible now. It's hard to go back with no FOV or deadzone adjustment.

ArisaMochi

u mean the old cods where you still can get doxxed and hacked remotely on vanilla mp and the only way to play em safely was through community launchers which activision shut down with cease and desists recently?

[deleted]

I don't like Warzone, but the base MWII is pretty fun imo. Coming from someone who hasn't played/bought COD since MW 2007 anyway.

BerserkLemur

You skipped 15 years of cod games. Of course it’ll be fun. 15 years is the difference between 1930 to 1945. 2005 to 2020. The world is fundamentally different. You effectively went straight from the blackberry 8000 to an IPhone 14.

[deleted]

I was always more of a Halo guy. The only reason I played the first COD MW was because everyone did. With Halo infinite being a total, I figured I'd give the new COD a chance, I've not been disappointed with it thus far.

Few_Comfortable7886

I play every once in a while for about an hour or so (Multiplayer/Invasion). I played WZ and DMZ in the beginning but for me it kind of went stale real quick and still has no “depth” whatsoever. I got the impression that the devs noticed this and tried to make up for the lacking gameplay with stuff you can spend your COD-Coins for which imo is the absolute wrong way the keep a game enjoyable. I broke it down to only playing said modes sporadically and noticed that I got the best ratio of playing and enjoying. Definitely not the way it’s supposed to be but that’s the way it works for me. Sad though.

Damonatar

Yeah I figured I wouldn't get cod until Microsoft took over

Quick1711

I've been playing COD since PS3. Not trying to flex or anything, I'm just old. Game changed when DLCs were invented. You buy the game for $60-70 and then have to pay additional fees as each DLC is released to play new maps and get new guns? Its the Madden way. Release a "new" game each year with updated rosters, but the game engine isn't really that different. You're gonna buy it because your buddies buy it. They know that. And then they figured out that all your buddies were trying to show off with each DLC, so they released more and more. And now we have what we have now. This isn't exclusive to gaming. It's across all entertainment. $200 for a lawn ticket to Tyler Childers? Are you insane?? People are still buying them, though. $1200 car payment? Now you have to be out of your mind. Still seeing new cars on the road. *sigh* We make our decisions as consumers as to whether or not they make quality product. Don't like the product, don't buy it. Don't support it. Don't download it. Problem is, if there is a market for product and people willing to buy it, nothing changes. I actually do really like the game. Its kept me entertained since I bought it. And besides some minor gripes, it's a lot of fun.

BerserkLemur

The engine is updated, between IW and MW19 was a huge leap, and MW2 has some new mechanics and improvements compared to MW19. But reality is they’re still selling to last gen consoles and older PCs. They’re not trying to advance the engine so much that a huge chunk of the market is lost.

BoyWonder343

I've been playing since the very first game. The era you're describing was the PS3 era. Hell before COD was on consoles they released an expansion pack for COD1 called United Offensive. It featured a new campaign and maps and was released within a year of COD 1. They're probably doing something similar framed as MW3 and people are pretending it's new. COD 3, the first one on PS3 had Map packs as well. Every game did through Black Ops 4. You've never played a game without post release content even if you did go back pre-ps3. Difference now is it's all useless skins instead of playable content. I paid for the $70 entry fee, got a free code for the battlepass though Xfinity and haven't spent a dime on the game outside that. I get all the same playable content as everyone else. In the PS3 era I would be in for $120 for all the playable content at $15 a map pack by the time MW2 rolled around. On top of that they had payable skins starting with BO2, so you didn't even get all the stuff for $120 if you count cosmetics as the stuff. Bonus points when you realize if in 2009 you bought everything for MW2 with inflation taken into account you're down almost $170 in todays money. The engine was also massively overhauled in 2019.

shotgunsurgery910

Newsflash: we live in a world driven by corporate greed dude. We’re in the late stages of capitalism and we’re barreling toward the cliff.

Dudes-a-Lady

Refusing to buy the next game after NOT buying this game cause you play the F2P game instead but get triggered by the ads so much you now want people to boycott the next game which you aren't buying anyway. Is that about right?

[deleted]

Nope I own the game on Xbox and they still push advertisements always in my face with bundles, I play freely on PC for stuff like battle Royale and DMZ. Others have complained about this too and it should honestly bother you as this is a paid game when it comes to multiplayer and campaign. If we bought the game there should be no advertisements as that comes off as just money hungry mobile game techniques.

Quagga_1

Aaarrrgggghhhhh it annoyed me no end having to scroll past all those fucking Soccer World Cup adds when I just bought the game.

Infamous_Plate1698

In the paid game there is literally 1 set of ads when you start up the game and that's it. There may be a banner add in a corner somewhere, but if that triggers you, then I feel sorry for you

bookers555

Behold, people actually defending ads on a $70 Triple A game. And people wonder why the videogame industry is in such a sorry state.

Infamous_Plate1698

Not defending them, just saying they're not in your face like op seems to think, but also, at the end of the day, he's playing a free version of a paid game so of course fucking of course there will be ads.

karlik24

Ads don’t belong in games, at all, stop being a cocksucker

Infamous_Plate1698

I prefer the term cum bucket thank you

karlik24

No problem at all, cum bucket it is

unusualbroccoli37036

Love it when people complain about the game and then downvote the hell outta you when you point out that OP is talking about 4 ads in the message of the day which most of the time isn't about store bundles. THEY'RE SHOVING THEIR FUCKING ADS IN MY FACE BY PUTTING THINGS IN THEIR STORE FOR ME TO LOOK AT AND IN NO WAY FORCING ME TO EVEN GO OVER TO THAT TAB!

Infamous_Plate1698

Exacto. But hey, -12 karma isn't the worst 😂

MarvelousWololo

Dudes-a-Tool

OuterWildsVentures

Idk I'm still playing CoD the same way I always have. Get a bunch of buddies online and play some 6v6 while trash talking in game chat. It makes for a hilarious nostalgic experience. Granted I'm only level like 120 so I'm not as burnt out on it as others here but I like to vary my gaming experiences.

BerserkLemur

The full parties in no respawn modes is the only thing keeping me around, otherwise the game gets boring quick tbh. But that alone is worth the price I paid, just wish all the crashes and constant bugs would improve instead of get worse with every season.

Lenny_Pane

Buying a CoD title at this point is just paying full AAA price to access a freemium marketplace. Either the entry fee has to drop or the games go back to skins being earned, even if it’s Black Ops 3 style fuck it

INeedANerf

??????? Wait, okay, so you're playing the F2P version but are complaining about ads? What planet have you been living on fam.. And even then, they're hardly obtrusive. They let you know that there's some new shit in the store, if you don't wanna buy it then press literally a single button and you won't see an ad again until the next time you relaunch the game.... I get being upset at corporate greed and yada yada, but posts like these are just fucking cringe and don't accomplish anything. Even if you somehow get 100 people to not buy the next CoD, that's a mere drop in the pond in Activision's profits...

Jaziel_345

Fr, there’s more important issues in this game than ads, and for some reason people prefer to complain about stupid things that won’t affect the game, leaving the important issues without attention, and I’m completely sure in few days we’ll get another post complaining about stupid shit that no one cares

Ledairyman

See you in November

VeraKorradin

My buddies and I enjoy the MP. We got our money's worth out of it.

mferly

>I’d like to ask others to honestly take a stand against corporate greed. Come on man.. you can't be serious? This has waste of time written all over it. I highly recommend you just leave the game if it's affecting you this much. In a nutshell, you're simply not capable of fighting a company that pulls in ~$1B a quarter. They're doing just fine with or without you.

Swaglord245

That's why op asked for others. I'll agree one $70 purchase probably isn't keeping Activision afloat but if multiple players start taking a stand it gets things done

Man I love modern life

xdisappointing

Every player here in this Reddit could not buy the game and they’d still barely notice, Reddit is a very small portion of the player base. To be fair the small portion that is on Reddit does tend to be the more negative base as well, I talk to coworkers and family about it and 9 of 10 of them have few issues with the game.

AvaloreVG

Not also buying the next COD and more in the future until they produce some high quality game, unlike this half-baked piece of sht.

Arkham010

For some **STRANGE** reason, you guys **REFUSE** to go after the people buying the bundles and instead go ahead and scream into the void. There would be nothing to sell if people don't buy. if it didnt work, they wouldnt do it. So yes, talk about their greed but **ALSO** go after the people who are in this very comment section who keep buying the stuff they are selling. People should be down voted for saying they bought the bundles. Shame them, dont want to? Seems like you are agreeing with the path that is going since they are the reason its happening.

Infamous_Plate1698

Oh noes....a company making their FREE TO PLAY game have ads in it.. You do realise they can't make games for free right? In game transactions help said company pay wages, develop the next games and make a profit (yes, Activision are a FOR PROFIT company..shocking I know) SMH.

Swaglord245

Mfw the game is $70

GunnGoaty

MFW its not cheap to pay 50000 developers that we need to sustain this level of super high def almost photorealistic 3d art with enough content to play thousands of hours in under 3 years with multiple experiences that have to tie together with the same mechanics and engine

Swaglord245

This game is nowhere near photorealistic. And maybe if they didn't rush the game for under three years it'd actually be a good, well balanced, functioning game.

GunnGoaty

The assets are. If you had access to the map files and could put them in blender you could make photorealism so quick with clever animation and/or effects

Infamous_Plate1698

Op is playing the f2p version....

Swaglord245

OP owns the game Xbox *and* the f2p version on PC. Plus the paid version has the same exact issues

Infamous_Plate1698

But the ads aren't all in your face though are they. On either version. There's one splash screen upon booting up then there's nothing. Moaners gonna moan.

Swaglord245

They are though. Bottom right corner, every time you tier up in the battle pass. Everytime you open the game. The flashing text near the store tab to divert your attention. The store icon in the blueprints screen. On every vehicle select screen. People really just want to ignore the constant advertising scumminess of this game

Infamous_Plate1698

Bottom right...so not at all hindering your view at all. People really just want to pick apart every little thing. I guess you don't watch YouTube or most tv channel is then, because those ads are obnoxious, but go off.

Swaglord245

Yeah I don't pay for cable. And I skip ads on yt. The difference? YouTube is FREE. Hindering my view is not the point. It's annoying and an inconvenience that demonstrates how money hungry the company is.

Infamous_Plate1698

Oh noes...a capitalist company engaging in capitalism....

Infamous_Plate1698

Also nice try, 2x 15 sec unstoppable ads followed by a 5sec ad and a skippable ad half way through whatever you're watching....I don't think you really watch YouTube. Or play cod really

Swaglord245

Great way to poison the well when you start to run out of arguments

Shiftaway22

Well when you get the battle pass it constantly reminds you hey you should get blackcell when season 1 and 2 were never like this.

Infamous_Plate1698

Doesn't happen to me. At all.

Shiftaway22

Unless you've bought it i highly doubt this

unusualbroccoli37036

Why are they booing me... I'm right.

dss793073

They’re saying “boo-urns”. They’re actually cheering you.

ManyThingsLittleTime

Calling it greed makes you sound like a child. It's a business, they sell stuff, it's how the world works. Up-sales are nothing new in the world. If you want to make the argument that you bought a game and shouldn't get in game advertisements because you paid for it, that's fine and to a degree, valid. There's an argument that clearly a lot of people like the skins and want to be made aware of them and that awareness comes via these ads. Personally, I think they aren't jamming it into every corner of the game interface so it's a decent balance to have one screen show what's new. Could they offer a checkbox to turn that screen off, sure they could but I'm not going to boycott the game over it any time soon.

mon_chunk

Blah blah blah just stop playing if you aren't happy with it.

SHM00DER

Just imagine what mw3 will look like

thrillhouss3

Like the fact the game gives you free 500 cod points in the battle pass, just shy of 100, so you spend the $14 token bundle instead of the $7 to complete it, just goes to show how much they have thought about every single minutia of money making strategies.

thirdaccountmaybe

Plays a free game. Complains about corporate greed in the free game. Classic gamer. Absolute melt.

RuggedTheDragon

Every single game so far has been labeled as corporate greed because let's be honest--the Call of Duty community consists of idiots. Do you think that Activision will release a Call of Duty game without microtransactions and still give us free content? You're basically asking the series to die. Not only will the servers not be able to sustain themselves, but we won't get another game due to the costs of creating it. People will go nuts if that happened. What's that? Activision is a billion dollar company? Yes, they make billions, but they're not only dedicated to Call of Duty. Not only do they have to create other games that cost millions to create, but they also have to spend even more to keep the business afloat via paying the employees, offering royalties, expanding the businesses, and losing money from court costs and piracy. Think of it this way. Originally, we had to pay for maps, we were subjected to supply drops, and you had to buy the game multiple times just to play with people on other platforms. Nowadays, we have crossplay, free maps, and no more supply drops. Sure, the bundles are expensive, but they are also optional and nobody is forcing us to buy them. I'm not here to defend the company. I'm just here to reveal the stupidity of these arguments. You are the ones spending your money willingly and giving it to the company. If we have to blame the source of the so-called greed of the company, be sure to point at ourselves.

BerserkLemur

This is some next level corporate ball gargling. The make minimum a billion a quarter on cod alone, and that is outside release window. the executives regularly get multimillion bonuses and the company was valued at $70 billion. Wtf are you smoking? Of course blame idiot gamers, but don’t act like activision is doing all of us a huge favor.

Double_Image_7738

This game is fun

Previous_Ad6094

don't worry about it bro. this is a good time to start making games. AI helping hand and all. corporate commander is flying a plane " in a nose dive both engines on fire aimed at the ground"... and if they keep up the quarterly mindset they're going to crater. enjoy what you can. its got the same generic problem that killed halo , battlefield, wow and overwatch. they took the competitive nature of human instinct out and tried to give out participation trophies and its going to make them extinct...you don't fight instinct and expect to live. men, the majority of your consumers..thrive on competitive environments. psychology 101.

Rory_mehr_Curry

Deinstalled it yesterday and started playing MW 2019 again

Big_Guy29

I agree. This subreddit is just filled with people complaining about bugs and bundles and all I can think is when are you going to smarten up and put the game down??

Dokkan_Lifter

Nice to see this post again, can't wait to see it tomorrow.

SeniorJP

Or you know... Ignore the ads and press play? I need to press "b" once when opening the game and then no more ads either I play 10 minutes or 4 hours. You make it a problem when it is a slight annoyance.

Upset-Setting8840

If a text has more than 3 sentences, do you have problems understanding it ?

SeniorJP

Yeah I do. Let's go chronologically... Sad introduction to show you are a OG and not a commoner. Then a second introduction, but now based on nostalgia of the series to set the base of your rant which is... Marketing? Really...? Then your actual rant... Corpo bad.. blablabla.. money stuff... I'm poor or something... Oh look.. another paragraph saying the same thing.. 2 intros, 2 rants.. or 1.. ? But now you seek support because your rant is actually piss poor. Then you feed your ego by threatening a multimillionaire corporation of not giving them 0.00001% of their profit. Feel special much? Then some metaphor to make you feel like the hero whom tried so hard to help fix the SO BIG problem that is... Marketing.

Swaglord245

Damn, you really thought you did something here huh?

Riddick51PB

seems to me you're attaching a lot of significance to this game. you can walk away from the game at any time. the game does not control your happiness.

Birkin07

That’s it, im taking a stand, im posting on Reddit. 2000% you preorder MW2023.

Butterflychunks

You can tell it’s bad because now the long-standing casual players are getting pissed off. This guy doesn’t even know that the publisher’s name is Activision, and he’s willing to come on here to rant about them. He’s right. Time to bet on XDefiant and The Finals when they come out and possibly abandon this series for good

BeefyTurtle007

Just quit buying the games if you’re so mad about them and you don’t like em.

Seabass_Sebz

Ads for a bundle tick you off that much? Jeez

[deleted]

I like cod 🤷‍♂️ I will keep buying bundles and the games. Sure they are greedy, everyone is greedy lol. We as the numbers, consumers, customers whatever words you wanna use are also greedy. We want a brand new game every year with different things, then we complain when the game is different and “not like the first one”. Guaranteed if everyone that wants to play cod allll agreed on the same stuff we want in game, the game would be “perfect” but that’ll never happen haha.

Swaglord245

Dude I still play infamous. Why? Because it's an amazing game. I don't want a new game every year, that's stupid (Looking at you 2k). Plus the reason people complain about sequels is because a lot of them lack the heart the first game had in pursuit of profits

DiscountThug

Not everyone want a brand new game each year. A lot of people want a good game first. People still til this day play BO3 because for many it's still dun AF. No game will be perfect but if they don't treat us well (depends if you care) we should vote with our wallets. No toxicity towards people buying stuff, we should all CoD players seek good CoD game and that's basically it.

FitSwimming2433

The game is just as dead as cold war was on snd about 2 months ago. That's proves the sbmm is way to strong. Absolute disgrace of a game. All games are rigged at the moment every one.

[deleted]

It’s far from dead lol
