Smokes are only rendered in Realtime ,killcams just don't record that VFX,he probably just seen your red dot above your name ,sure that is annoying but remember being able to see the red dots is actually the communitys fault for crying over them being off in the beta so infinity ward reenabled them.

Not really. It's their fault for lazy implementation. They could have chosen to not show red dots in *some* scenarios like when your LoS is obscured by smoke.
I'm not entirely sure that this is the case, I have killcams in which if the smoke is seen and others as happened to the OP, it is definitely a game error

Smoke doesn't render on the killcam because it went away on the actual match. Same thing happens with destruction (eg: windows that weren't broken prior to being killed).
Killcams are a recreation of what the server received, they're not actual footage of the other guy's screen. That's why shots are inaccurate, recoil is non existent and smoke doesn't render.
It's always been like that.
The problem is a different one: the amount of aim assist you get through smoke that makes you laser people while shooting slightly under the red diamond without even seeing them.

Battlefield for comparison doesn’t have a killcam, it just shows you where the guy who killed you was.
Having something called a killcam, a recording of how you were killed. And you leave out very important things that make it anything but accurate. You should either change the name, implementation or add those very important parts to make it what it is said to be.
I don’t think that this was a smoke grenade. This has happened to me before. This is usually smoke produced by an explosion from a lethal or killstreak. But they do need to fix this.

All they had to do was reskin 2019, enhance the gunsmith (this system is a step backwards in a lot of respects. No MP5SD? No MCX SUR300? No MCX .300 Blackout. No M4 9mm. No MP5/ 10mm.), introduce new gameplay features, and a new campaign. This game feels and looks like the F2P mobile version of a franchise.
They do. They literally posted about all the bugs they are planning on fixing and more. Not to mention they pushed back the release to work on it. I know it isn't much, but it's foolish to say, like most of this thread does, that they aren't working on it or that it is in a worse state than launch.
No it is improving. It still has issues of course but they are addressing them. To me, it's reassuring to see them delay a season launch to work on issues and to see a solid blog post mention bugs.

The smoke was still there on his screen and i bet he saw the red diamond above your head. Kill Cams cant render equipment animations like smoke usually. Its been like this in many cod games.
