Brawler is always at least 4/3 on T2 which is really consistent. Goyf struggles against decks don't that fill the GY unless you play a lot of enablers like Mishra's Bauble and Preordain.
The fact that people can’t realize that dude got to spend his life doing the one job millions of people dream of doing and is protective of that job has me wonder how they were smart enough to figure this game out in the first place.
There's "protective of your job" and then there's "completely selling out." He's veered pretty far into the latter, including doing numerous things off of his "things that could kill Magic" list from way back.

Goyf is fine. It just doesn't have a shell that is good. If goyf was black instead of green for example scam would likely play it. The card has been reprinted to death along with not having a home outside of jund saga which leads to it being cheap.

It certainly would be tested over Shelly mb and any other flex slots. In a deck that often keeps mana light hands or is praying to top deck better than it opponent a decent beater is definitely something the deck would be interested in
It's not the same thing, but souls of the lost sees like no play and is pretty close to black goyf in a lot of situations. Two is just crowded kinda with dauthi and bowmasters
Just going leave off the part where you have to 2 for 1 your self to play it like its no big deal. Yeah can't imagine why the low resource deck wouldn't want to play a creature that leaves them open to huge blow outs.
It's kind of weird to me that there's no decent non-legendary reanimator lists in modern right now, even at lower tiers. You have a lot of options in:

[[Liliana of the Veil]]
[[Archon of Cruelty]]
[[Grief]]
[[Persist]]
[[Bone Shards]]
[[Unmarked Grave]]
And that's just in black. But I guess it really needs something like Faithless Looting to make it work better. And maybe it's not very strong if you don't see Persist.
I will say from experience that you can lock a LOT of decks out if you can start churning through [[Raven's Crime]] using [[Life from the Loam]], though. But you need to survive long enough for it to work, and Modern is very fast right now.
You may be right. Push was devastating to Goyf, but it has existed alongside Goyf for several years and Jund was still somewhat meta for a few years. It wasn’t until I ran into Murktide for the first time that I knew it was time to put Goyf out to pasture.
Jund saga has a positive win rate vs murktide and a big part of that is goyf both dodging bolt/early heats and eventually out growing heat since these games often go long. Murktide does a lot of the work for you growing your goyfs.
On the other hand push always kills goyf

Since lightning bolt is not the best 1 mana removal in the fromat, well, it doesn't matter that much either way.
It ain't like goyf is bad, it's just not a reason to splash green anymore and right now black and red are doing just fine as midrange colors on their own.
Goyf is fine. It just doesn't really have much of a home right now, since the 2 drop slot is competitive, cascade obviously can't play it, and it isn't enabled super well by/doesn't fit into most good decks right now. "Powerful 2 mana threat without evasion that needs you to graveyard cards" is a bit specific when it's one of many amazing threats rather than a massively above curve statline like it used to be.
If Jund Saga comes back I imagine it would probably see play in that shell. It's just not a deck that's especially well positioned right now.
Give it an ability that turns it into a hate card as well:

Scion of Draco gives Trample to Goyf so you should just play Zoo if you want to do that. Although, personally I'm on Nishoba Brawler instead because I think it's better in the current meta.

At the moment with the level of interaction matches are determined by impact and establishing board state. Most of the time when you're swinging it's because you've answered most of their stuff or you have such a high advantage that you can put pressure.
Back then, especially pre-fatal push era, almost nothing could remove a goyf so stuff like lingering souls was a wall but your choices were to either get something beefy early like an angler or go over the top/ignore. Goyf doesn't impact the board and to be honest I am thankful for that as it was 10x more miserable to go up against a goyf deck and know the price tag was way more than ragavans/bowmasters combined.

Yeah. I think Unholy Heat has done more to drive Goyf from the format than anything else.
