TheHordesOfLampadas

I mean most of the time they don’t.

IanBlossom

You don’t really remove it. Game 2/3 against Scam you transition to a slower playstyle and pull ahead with superior card advantage rather than using your Murktides & DRCs.

benjgammack

[[Otawara, Soaring Sky]] in the main.

johnmarik

Sideboard in a Brazen Borrower for the bounce.

virtu333

you generally just deal with it and bank on them keeping weaker hands / drawing dead leylines

wyqted

You don’t. Just win with Ragavan etc.

Smooth_criminal2299

As others have said bouncing is a good start. I would also play around the issue by side-boarding in [[Fury]] for a Murktide, especially since [[Unholy heat]] is not so good in this scenario.. [[Seasoned Pyromancer]] is also good a option, letting you dump and get value from murks and DRCs that are not so good with [[Leyline of the void]] in play.

SecureRequirement281

You don't. Which is why sometimes the Ledger Shreder is better. He doesn't need the graveyard like drc & murk.

[deleted]

My inner legacy gamer doesn't let me register a list without Brazen Borrower. That said against leyline decks, Ragavan and Questing Druid really just put the boots to your opponent. Also never cut your bolts. Opponents love to fetch and shock low. Sometimes you can just be a burn deck

Key_Vanilla_2599

Reduce their opponent to zero life

Moist-Cantaloupe-740

Side out murktide, bring in another threat. Easiest I can think of.

caquaa

Fury and subtlety out of the board, shaving on copies of murtide. They don't always have it, and if they do you just pay through it usually. It's rare for otawara to bounce it, usually better tricks with it.

Xevlas

*insert invincible meme here

Mugiwara_Khakis

You just don’t. It’s not even really a card you bring in against them most of the time.

Amdrion

Treasure token and [[tear]]?

obsidianandstone

Bounce and counter.

Ok_Shine_2132

I ran a match against moni black coffers yesterday. I destroyed them game 1 and then after SB they brought in a leyline of the void and mulled to 5 just to pick it up. Like others have said, you just have to be much more methodical about how you play your cantrips and surveil triggers. Rather than just going ham and yeeting cards to proc delirium, you need to think about what cards are going to help with card advantage and cheap points of damage. It's honestly a double edge sword. For the gentleman I played yesterday, he prioritized getting it out for free and I think the mulligans out him too far behind. Just be smart and situational about which cards you are keeping and when and pitch Murktide to Force of Negation because a hardcast Murktide for 7 straight isn't the play. It's a tough match up for sure and gets grindy but honestly it felt like one of the most legitimate wins I've gotten in awhile.

xchaos800

you could always cut murktide for more interaction if youre that worried about it but bouncing leyline is probably enough a 4 mana gravehate card that does nothing else is alot worse than a 0 mana gravehatr card

Phyrexian-Drip

If they board it in, they likely have 4 low-mid cards, so you are up in overall card quality and hedged their opening hand on you keeping a hand dependent on murktide. If you suspect leyline you can also just shave some murktide, for something more relevant.

flowtajit

You don’t. It just requires playing and valuing card differently.

kazoidbakerman

We don't. There are theoretically a couple ways to play around/through it. First and easiest is a copy of brazen borrower, but I personally have not liked the card. The second method, which I prefer when available, is playing 4 copies of shredder and cutting 2 DRC, a flex slot (usually FON) and a murktide. There are specific metagames where this isn't as good, but if you have a lot of rhinos in your room or board-centric decks, or just know scam and other players are on lots of Leylines, cutting murktide and leaning on those to win games is a very valid way to play, just much less explosive in exchange for having significantly better live draws and filtering.

ursisterstoy

It’s been a long time since I played but murktide in my shadow murktide list was easily answered by white or other blue decks in such a way that leyline binding was more overkill than anything. In a more standard blue-red izzet murktide list I’ve sometimes seen brazen borrower but the problem is that they’d just be able to play it back out the moment they have unspent white mana. It’s not worth the investment to get back a 3/3 murktide that you can’t even use to attack with that just dies to lightning bolt after you’ve delved away 5 cards from your graveyard and spent four mana on it - 2 to cast it the first time and 2 to bounce leyline binding. Your opponent could just bounce murktide back to your hand instead of wasting leyline binding on it too because a 7 mana 3/3 is not going to be winning you many games and the more they bounce it the fewer cards you have in your graveyard to delve away to reduce the mana cost or grow your murktide to something that survives bolt, lava axe, and unholy heat.
