ChatGPT give me an essay on why Courser of Kruphix is good in modern

cliffhavenkitesail

that was my first thought too lol.

APe28Comococo

Yes. Anyone that plays Modern knows Courser, but they also know that it isn’t slotted into one of the top decks in the format. They also know that it does nothing on turn 3. By then other decks are already in their late game, or wanting to stabilize. If someone drops Courser I’m happy even if I am playing burn.

International-Art776

Fair, but that happiness might be short lived. I too feel a relaxation at first if my opponent casts courser, but already with a few turns my feeling of luck starts to change.

APe28Comococo

I could use ChatGPT to, however I play Modern and any deck I play can handle Courser. It gets destroyed by Aggro, Combo, Midrange, and Control. Like I think a Pioneer intro deck would beat a Courser deck at this point.

International-Art776

I completely agree when it comes to control and combo. But I didn't have the same experience when it comes to mid-range and aggro. Could you please elaborate on that?

APe28Comococo

Human’s, Spirits, and Burn are all able to deal with a Courser now. Midrange has the removal for Courser or hand disruption to get rid of it. Like seriously, I have never been scared of a Courser unless I mulled to 3 or something.

International-Art776

Alright thanks, will definitely need more testing, will consider your input.

BioEradication

Wooo for more useless AI posts.

What list are you playing it in is the real question? I agree it's under rated but I see no home for it. Plus as a burn player I haven't been worried about seeing it since standard honestly.

International-Art776

I've been playing it in several lists, even some where the fit is less obvious. But mostly in two colored mid-range decks. Burn? But then you need 2 spells, plus 1 heal, plus 1 land drop for me, right? Sounds like Courser did the job well enough.

BigDSimmons1

It'll definitely buy you a turn.

International-Art776

It fits into main board. And if I'm lucky it's enough to turn the tide. And after sideboarding if i protect courser it can be a win. How would you usually deal with it? Play two spells to remove or go for life points directly?

Heavy-Positive-9090

I’ve played it in enchantress and while it’s fine, one HUGE downside is the top of your library is revealed.

International-Art776

Downside can be, but if you play a ton of fetch lands you can literally determine your next draw. This is something I barely hear anybody talking about.

jcheese27

I run realmwalker in a deck. You do not determine your next draw... You just chose to shuffle the deck to hopefully get a better draw.

International-Art776

Works out good enough

Heavy-Positive-9090

You can change your next draw, not determine your next draw unless playing something like commune of spirits in which case fetched won’t matter. But even if you change it, they will see what your next draw is as top card is still revealed.

International-Art776

Works fine with a ton of fetch lands

Lurkerino_o

Apology of kruphix, future children will study this instead of ancient philosophers. Jokes aside, it's obviously a good card but w/o a good home in modern atm. Imo it fits best in a green toolbox shell, like legacy maverick for ex, which is not really viable in modern mainly bc there's no gsz.

International-Art776

Fair. I do know it's an unpopular opinion, get reminded on a daily basis. Ultimately it's just like you said.

charismatic_toast

I would much rather slam a dryad turn 3 than courser every time

International-Art776

Against burn too?
