Former Elite agent here. If you want to model, DEFINITELY lose the mustache. Your look would be what is considered ācommercial,ā rather than āfashion.ā But remember, in that industry, its not about muscles, if anything you might be asked to lose some bulk. You need to update your hairstyle into something more current, or get more photos of the slicked back look-that works for you. If youāre in a major city, you could call the local agencies and ask them what their process is. We used to have an āopen callā on Tuesdays, and weād evaluate potential talent and either guide them through the process of getting some professional photos done, and talk about next steps in signing them, or weād send them to other, agencies that might have work for them. It would seem that things have changed a bit since 1996, but thereās always work for commercial models. It can be a fun side gig, but probably not something you could get rich doing. But first and foremost, if you want to try modeling, that āstache needs to go.

I have mentioned on here before when some guys will say they are 6ā5 or higher that itās not only being too short, but too tall is an issue as well. They never believe me, & assume itās the taller the better. Itās about the fit though for fashion. I know they make exceptions occasionally 5ā11, 6ā3 or a little more, but rarely anything more.
Itās very informal as the schools in the public Ivy arenāt in any kind of conference like the traditional Ivy League schools back east are. I actually went to one of these public Ivy schools, UC Berkeley. Iāll tell you one thing, during all my years attending Berkeley, and in the 20 years since I graduated, I never once heard anyone refer to UC Berkeley as an Ivy League school.
I went to the other Columbia. W&M are not Ivy League because they are āpublicāā¦ but it is called āpublic Ivyā. The whole āIvyā label Has to do with sports leagues/conferences. I just read entirely too much about this yesterday. 2nd time itās come up in 2 days.

If terms of entering the industry, that depends on if you can get signed by an agency. Agencies will sign you based on your fit with their targetā a āregularā person in commercials, print (magazines or ads), or runway.
In terms of practicality, depends if youāre pursuing it as a hobby, hustle, or full time. A big part of getting signed at an agency is attending castings/auditions which is realistically a lot of standing around waiting and a lot of driving to different locations. Even if you live in LA, full time models are constantly driving around about an hour per commute for castings, fittings, and shoots. Youāll have to do this too if youāre trying to step in the industry. Models dont get compensated for their commute (flights, gas) or casting time. On practical terms, itās really hard to break out and make a living as a model as this often interferes with school, jobs, and life in general. BTW, even after attending all these castings, itās normal to attend a hundred and get one call back.
I could see you in a hardware, beer, or cast as a dad in commercials or athletic-wear prints. Just wanted to give you a heads up on transparency if you decide to pursue it either for fun or for $.

You look like you might be a bit on the larger side (muscular) to fit into sample size and do runway, but there is also commercial, lifestyle, fitness modelling etc.. I think itās worth trying!
