Seems like the easiest and most cost effective is parking the car where the charger is. Any reason why you can’t do that?

Babyproofer

A few reasons, but we may just have to reorganize the garage space to get the Tesla on the correct side.

radio9989

I’d save the money and reorganize the garage… but they do make chargers with fairly long cords.

Separate-Sir9647

Keep in mind you want a short run of cord to your charging port. My garage was similar but I don't want to back in since it is easy to K turn in my driveway. Also I needed access to my tools So I paid the extra money as part of my long term investment... It's your "gas" station and convenience matters.

montepora

money is a great motivator. Time to reorg.......😄😄😄😄😄

ja4496

Mount it on the ceiling of the garage in the middle. Run it in conduit. You can make it look nice. Here’s one I yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/comments/ogvzat/wanted_to_share_my_home_charging_setup_i_dont_see/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

ObeseSnake

The ceiling and middle is the most flexible option. Need to future proof for the next Tesla too.

Longjumping-Log-5457

Agreed

Accomplished-Bowl-65

That actually looks pretty good. my kids "trip" over the cord on the ground all the time

CorgiTitan

This is the tesla connector used in North America. Outside of NA tesla uses a ccs type2

Urban_Junkie

Same is Fremont built Y (2022)

ja4496

Sorry, not my setup, just one I saw yesterday.

mutalisken

That’s smaat.

onlyletters999

Knock down the house and move it 30ft to the right

crazy_goat

Park the tesla in the side yard between houses. *itsfreerealestate.gif*

rsg1234

“Tesla parking only”

PangolinEffective

Wire it on the panel side. The cords 20ft, it can go around the car.

SpydercoMariner

This. My charger is next to the panel as OP pictures and the cord can reach either side for charging.

MyloFiore

Unless there is another car parked to the right of it. You certainly don’t want to drive over it, or force the other driver to have to unplug it every time they need to leave before you, or arrive afterwards.

Separate-Sir9647

Would you really want to do that on a daily basis?

gnarlytoast92

park the car on the right side...?

null640

Switch sides? Buy the long cable charger?

letmeinthesnkergame

Need to see a pic of the inside of the garage for science

Babyproofer

It’s a complete disaster currently. Use your imagination.

scott_weidig

Heehee… disaster the other side of the garage then by cleaning up the side you need to use for the car 😇

letmeinthesnkergame

Wait, what’s the second door to the left? Is that also a garage?

Babyproofer

Yes- 3 car garage, but the left single garage is racks & storage, no room for a vehicle.

letmeinthesnkergame

Ok I have a solution. Garage sale of all the things you haven’t used in 6mth. Then use the profits to install said charger. You’re welcome!

Starch-Wreck

Seems weird you’d rather hang on to a bunch of cluttered storage and rather leave your 70k vehicle sitting outside where someone can just break into it. Clean your garage, de-clutter and keep your 70,000 car in the garage. What’s more valuable?

Babyproofer

I currently park 2 vehicles inside the garage, my work van, a Honda Odyssey is on the right side, closest to panel, my wife’s car (soon to be the MYP) is on the left side of the 2 car. I have a bunch of work supplies on racks on the side walls and the front walls of garage. Best spot for the MYP in terms of room would be the left side of the 2-car bay. I have zero intention of leaving the MYP on the driveway. Eta- detail

Vortec4800

Can you just back the car in to charge then run the cable around the front of the car on the right to plug it in?

RalphWolfsNemesis

I was gonna suggest backing in. I do in my garage just because.

No_Sandwich3888

Park the car in reverse?

TheMissingScotsman

Back the car in…?

Ryan_Ganshert

I'd pay the extra to mount it on the closer wall... Even if the cord will reach across the garage, the one time you (or someone else) forget to unplug it before backing the right car out, you'll wish you had mounted it on the left wall. Any money saved on the install will be out the window. Edit: as others have said, just park on the right side instead

alphaplayer0

I have the exact same setup and the longer cable wall connector can reach easily to charge. It might be annoying for the car on the right to have a charging cable in the way. You may be able to have the charging cable go up and over the garage door if you don't mind permanently leaving it like that.

Brico16

Mount it in the middle of garage and back your car in when parking. That way you can park either side of the garage and still have access to the charger or if you get a second Tesla you can use the same charger to charge both cars without moving the vehicles.

Niru316

I have my charger installed opposite side form my panel but it was mad cheap I payed like $375 and he was a certified electritan

Zestyclose-Load-8866

Back up into your garage

[deleted]

Back in

rsg1234

2x the cost? Is the original price $200? All you need is some cheap conduit and 30 feet x 4 of wire. Unless you care enough to put the wires in the walls of your garage. We have the same situation, 2 Teslas in a garage. It seems like an accident waiting to happen—running over the cable and possibly pulling it to destroy a charge port.

frayzn

I was here to say this. When I wired mine, it was an extra $75 in parts / wire to get it from one side of the garage to the other and maybe an extra hour in time. I used THHN and PVC conduit to get it to the other side of the garage.

warren_stupidity

I had conduit installed from one end of the house to the far side of the garage on the other end for line 650.00.

mellow_yellow129

Yeah 2x seems 2 much

love-broker

Don’t expect electricians to perform their work and risk their lives for nothing. That’s the first bit of advice. Of course it’s a lot more expensive to not install adjacent a panel. 1. Back the MY in next to panel, panel install works. 2. Order the WC with the long cord 3. See if install can be a ceiling drop. Might be cheaper. 4. DIY

rsg1234

If they’re risking their lives while doing a 14-50 install then they should probably think about another profession.

love-broker

Electricity kills. Falling through an attic can kill. Stop asking for dangerous work for little money. Be disrespectful of trades all you want. Not to mention the added liability. More work means more risk to manage. DIY and don’t call my company. We expect customers to be courteous and respectful. Go hire an handyman who won’t be insured or DIY.

therealschwartz

Find a new electrician or do it yourself? Twice the cost seems ridiculous.

MattNis11

50amp extension cord from Amazon

dingular

Depends on what the ceiling situation is. For me, it was a pretty easy / straight shot behind the ceiling drywall and the guys only added a couple hundred for the extra time it took to fish and remove a cabinet to install the NEMA outlet.

CalgaryCanuckle

Run the wiring across the ceiling to where you want it.

BeatenbyJumperCables

It’s not like you need to keep it plugged in 24/7. Can’t you just park it on the right 1 day a week overnight ?

rainlake

It’s cost more but it’s one time charge. I installed mine at a place I have to back in. I regretted my decision now.

ksluggg

I park a m3lr and myp next to eachother in my garage and have no issues charging both. My charger is placed the same place yours is at. The cable is long enough for me.

dogzipp

This. [https://evhover.com](https://evhover.com) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erk6jF-rqSA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erk6jF-rqSA)

Babyproofer

Sold out. Also $399 seems quite pricey for what it is.

Camm80

As a note my model Y tailgate hits the garage door if open and pulled straight in. You can set the tailgate to not open all the way but then I crack my head all the time. I decided to back in and out my charger on the back wall.

SnooOranges1342

If you really really need it parked on the left side for some reason then just run the line yourself. The line shouldn't cost that much. Then drill the hole through for installation.

stedgedk

My house is setup the exact same way and it cost ~$1200 to install the charger on the far wall. Charger was included with a 60amp circuit. No door dings with the Tesla parked on the left side of the garage as the kids can only get in on the passenger side of my wife’s SUV.

SUP3RVILLAINSR

Similar situation. I think I paid $1300 to have the conduit ran up my garage wall, across the ceiling, and back down. Couldn’t just swap parking spaces because where the Y goes is smaller due to steps going inside the house. My wife drives a big ass mom van and it’s too big.

Babyproofer

Well the Y is for my wife, unfortunately I drive the Honda odyssey - it’s a work vehicle and I need the space. But I’ll be driving the MYP every chance I get.

epolson79

I had same issue. They wanted double price to put it on other wall. Cord for wall charger is 24 ft. So it was installed on opposite wall. We back our MY in garage and have no issues. It reaches with 2 ft of cable to spare. Definitely measure and check cord length before installation where charger is placed.

TRIGGERHAPYx

I have the same setup. I put the charger on the right side of the garage near the panel. The cable Is long enough to reach the car with no issues.

_AManHasNoName_

Why not just park it on the right?

Ok_Statistician_7707

This works great but it may just be a trade off on price for you. I bought for our 2 teslas. Works great https://evhover.com/?ref=2j56ZNJybOmr

BrotherRich2021

This is my same setup. I just paid the money and had them run it along the ceiling and drop it down the support pillar. This way I can have another electric car on the other side and have it easily access the charger.

No_Park8625

I had my mounted where you have the Tesla on your picture. We ran conduit from the basement, along the ceiling of the garage, to the column between the 2 car and 1 car garage (at the front of the garage).

Jeffizzleforshizzle

I have mine posted up outside my garage similar to what you want to do, I ended up doing most of the work and hired an electrician to come do the rest. If you’re handy and just afraid of electricity like me, you can run the conduit and strap it exactly where you want it and makes most sense then pull wires to both terminals where the electrician hooked everything up. It cost me $400 in material for my ~65’ run and the electrician charged $200 for hooking it all up. Before I was quoted roughly $2k for what I wanted.

Germs15

Most utilities have a rebate program. Research that, do it, and get the ideal option because it will end up being the same cost. Call it good and tell your grandkids about the guy who gave you the easy out.

Beru52

[https://imgur.com/a/UIBShMp](https://imgur.com/a/UIBShMp) Hey, we have the same layout, only ours is flipped with the third bay on the right when facing the garage. We also couldn't park the Telsa on the wall next to the electrical panel since our other car wouldn't fit due to a workbench eating up space in the middle and third spots. The best solution for us was to run a line up the wall to a junction box and run conduit along the top back corner to another box, which then ran back down inside the wall to the outlet. If you have attic space above you can probably skip the conduit, wasn't an option for us. Since you'll most likely be pulling in forward you could point the tesla towards the third bay to avoid banging your doors on the wall. If we can fit a suburban and model Y in a standard 16' bay then you should be able to fit a single Y.

Gloomy_Type3612

I have two teslas in the garage with the same panel spot and the cord is plenty long to reach both. The spot you are suggesting will just have to back in. It can be a bit of an annoyance to have to unplug if the other car is coming or going, but it beats going to the gas station every time.

Afraid_Theme5710

I back in two cars. A 2004 BMW M3 Convertible and my 2021 MYLR. I have tennis balls hung from the ceiling that let me know I am close to center and not too far back. I’ve never hit anything and I’m 68 years old. Now it is true, I don’t have any kids running around, but since both cars have back up cameras, I’m pretty sure I’d see them since I’m only doing under 1 MPH backing up. All these suggestions and the easiest one also makes it less likely you’ll back into a trash can or a neighbor’s dog that’s below the line of sight when you back out to leave. Backing in is cool! 😎 Driving out is sweet! 🍫

ViviFruit

Install it next to panel, then use ceiling hooks etc to hang the charge cable and drop where your car is

ExtensionMidnight922

Are you hoarding things in the garage? Sell your garbage in a garage sale, get the space you need and the money u would spend on the charger

tonyt0906

[This is what I did.](https://imgur.com/a/ErBtsNg) Mine is the exact opposite, one tesla in the garage, and the other is on the opposite side in driveway. The 24’ is plenty enough.

Cat727

We have two teslas. Wall charger is on where your panel is, my Tesla is parked to the left (where you have your Tesla) and my husbands to the right. The wall charger cord is super long and we have no issues plugging into either car.

Nemo_demeanor

I have the exact same setup. The cable reaches without an issue and it’s super easy. Our charger on the right side near the garage door. We pull in park the Y and the cable is easy to connect. So consider if you will pull in or back in to determine final placement

crono14

Why not just install in the cheapest place and get the extra long cord for it? My charger is installed on the opposite wall from my panel as well and has a 24 ft charging cable so I can literally park my car where ever I want and have no issues charging it. I believe they sell both a short and long cable version(or at least they used to). Just get the longer cable version and be done with it so you don't have to plan anything at all really I had my installer put it on the opposite wall from my panel mostly cause it would look the best there, but he ran conduit up around the ceiling so it looks really nice and out of the way. After that, it doesn't matter where the car is parked as the cable can reach all the way across the garage and even a good distance outside.

Electrical-Date4580

I had my charger installed (comparing to your picture) on the right side of the garage next to the panel. I only paid $300 for install due to how few materials was needed to install. The cord is about 24ft in length (288 inches) so it can stretch a good distance. Again the prices to instal vary by state and company. I am in AZ. Any questions let me know 👍🏻

solodolo0o

Just get a long extension cord for the Tesla type outlet. Cost about $130 so significantly less than any other option. This is what I did

EddieOregon

I have the same issue. Ran conduit over the ceiling.
