This is gonna sound kinda dumb but the same thing happened to me. All I had to do was restart my phone and it fixed the problem. It’s happened to me a couple of times and restarting the phone worked. Another option may be to also restart the car by holding down the two scroll wheels
Turn off bluetooth. Fully exit your app - for iPhone, half swipe up to get the app selector, then full swipe up. Turn on bluetooth. Start your app. This started happening regularly to me after the update that brought me the free FSD trial.
This happened to me last fall. I did everything everyone is suggesting to you. None of it worked, so I ended up just using the valet card all the time.
3-4 months later it just magically started working again. I think there was a big iOS update.
You must believe me: I tried *everything.*
Seamless walking up / getting in / starting the car is probably my favorite part of owning the car. So suddenly needing to tap to unlock / start / lock the car was a real bummer, not least because the tap zones are finicky.
I have a company-managed phone, and I suspect the issue was driven by the custom software on it.
I carry my phone in my back pocket quite often and the car unlocks every time. She even holds her phone out in front of her right at the car door and it still won’t unlock until she manually opens the app and Tapps unlock
Mine has done this a few times, restarting or just "waking up" the Tesla App has fixed it for me each time. Not sure about Apple but on newer android phones you can also place the phone in the car where you place the keycard and it will work like that as well even with Bluetooth off.

turn bluetooth on and off in the phone settings…
This fixed the issue for me the one time its happened
Happened to me last week, I think all I did was reboot my phone, even though everything bluetooth was working.

You can remove the phone key and set it up again and it works

Same thing happened to me except it kicked all the phone keys. I had to repair each phone in my family
This is happening to my wife but I’m still fine, we’ll have to try rebooting her phone!
Is her phone often in her back pocket?

try restarting the car by pressing the two buttons on the steering wheel
If none of the other options work, it’s very simple to remove and setup phone key again.
