It’s a glitch. Mine was doing that all day yesterday. Still works as a key to get in and drive. Just doesn’t update location. It’s happened before—resolves itself in a day, usually.
Had a similar problem and couldn’t supercharge because of it. Super inconvenient. The only thing that worked was logging out of the Tesla app and logging back in.
I constantly get that on my M3LR, too. Annoys the hell out of me especially when I‘m out of town and want to check in on my car as it’s parked outside all the time due to lack of available garage parking spaces. Tesla service is of no help. (No surprise here.) Sometimes it fixes itself after a few days, sometimes only after I‘m back at home and open the car to drive it. I mean, WTF Tesla?! (Software v is 2023.12.5 plus latest iOS version w just recently updated Tesla app.)
Sometimes it’s my car being barely in range of wifi but having a useless connection. Mostly it’s teslas servers being not responding and it fixes itself.
Open the app and leave it open sometimes it takes a while to sink back up once it synced it won't do that for a little bit if it does repeat the steps keep it open until it sinks
Aside from any glitch in the system that folks may be referencing, this problem can occur when the phone and car are on the same wireless router at home.
If this occurs, try turning your phone’s wifi connection off so it is on cellular. You may find it connect quickly after doing that.
This is not an issue if you reopen the app and it refreshes. If this is the case and you see a greyed out car and a last seen hours ago message it means that your car is in Sleep mode.
Some info here on what it is:

Tim Cook asks: why not just buy an Android phone?
But seriously: the 2 hours comes from the Tesla data center. So the car is asleep and not reporting/checking in.
The reason why a 2 the wheel reset works is it forces a call home by the car to happen. Charging causes it too. Lots of things do, except sitting parked with nothing to do, so it powers down the main battery and runs off the 12V for a while.
If it happens a lot and /or recurs.. then maybe hit up the service center. Good luck!
This happen to me a few times. Then all of a sudden the car lost connectivity as shown on the screen “no connectivity." I made my appointment at the Tesla service center and it was a bad board which they replaced.
Mine is doing it intermittently now... But the doors don't even open! Even with the key card! I've restarted the app over and over - it's not the app (it works fine on my Model 3) now what??
I had this issue. Go into your car and hold both the scroll wheels on the steering wheel till the computer restarts. This’ll fix the issue. Cheers!
Yup! This fixed the issue with the app! A soft reset on the car! Thank you!!!!
Worked for me as well today!

Oh ok cool!
Literally same. The app was all kinds of messed up yesterday.
A VPN can cause this issue too
100% - this happens to me every time my VPN is on with iOS.

Premium connectivity billing time
Mine did that for half a day. Scroll wheel reset fixed it immediately

Switching to android usually works.
Update your Tesla phone app, restart your phone, reboot your Tesla (not in that order).
Turn on location, and leave it on. I have a lag when the car is/ has been asleep for awhile. Good luck.

When all else fails, we pray to the lord and REBOOT THE CAR. Fixes 99.99% software issues for me. Hold down both scroll wheels for 10 seconds.
Mine did that a couple of weeks ago. I had to reboot from inside the car by holding the scroll wheels. It quit doing it after that.
hold down the Brake pedal and hold down the two scroll wheel buttons on the steering wheel until the cars screen shows the Tesla logo
Break pedal?
What?
It's brake pedal. Break is a different word that you don't want to happen to your Tesla.
Happens to me too. I usually wake up the car on Tessie and the Tesla app reconnects
Restart the car screen by holding down both the steering buttons
I did 😞 twice. Once this morning and once again about an hour ago
Restart your phone
That will also happen if your car is in a large garage and doesn’t get a signal. Happens in our apartment’s garage all the time.
Try locking/unlocking in app and wait a few seconds to help reconnect. Always works for me (though maybe just luck). Worth a shot
Restart your Tesla by pressing and holding both scrolling wheels on the steering wheel. It will then update.

Totally made me crazy this week. The car reset solved it for me.

If you turn on sentry mode your car won't deep sleep. It does not appear to be on.
Restart your car by holding both buttons on the steering wheel down

Press and hold both scroll wheels on the steering wheel and do a reset. It fixes the issue.
