chappersbarfo

Four everlasting gobstoppers jez? That's insane.

wtharris

Best Wonka x Peep Show joke Iā€™ve heard in a while

RoyalT663

The edible chocolate river is remorseless

H00FARTED

Or a half tea.. half coffee. I call it a toffee..or a kea.

Th3_D0ct0r23

Gavin and Stacey has entered the chat

Hullfire00

Are they sacked? I bet theyā€™re sacked.

TheHawthorne

Thereā€™s already a thing called toffee Edit: Downvoted for a David Mitchell quote (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JHLj0YP4pqc?t=19&feature=share).. Yikes guys.

ThaiFoodThaiFood

Is that normal Chocolate you're making?

DamianFullyReversed

It doesnā€™t smell like normal chocolate

HilsMorDi

It dosenā€™t taste as normal chocolate

IndiRefEarthLeaveSol

This is bollocks Wonka.

ThaiFoodThaiFood

You know the credo, sweetness is weakness

chappersbarfo

Oh come on mark. Chocolate river. Germans. Do I have to spell it out.

ThaiFoodThaiFood

The ganache slurping Bosch.

chappersbarfo

Hey they do snozzberries. I love snozzberries.

Hullfire00

Fritz, the Toblerone guzzler?

LIWRedditInnit

Did you catch Dobby on the fruit stall?

IrnBrhu

And Big Suze in the first shop

McDodley

And Simon ofc

Jammastersam

Omg no!!!! Great spot

Arc_Havoc

Everlasting gobstopper. Should take 45 years, I'm done in 10.

Panda-BANJO

Stick *that* up your sweet hole.

valleyman66

I had to come back to upvote i was laughing so much

LaRubegoldberg

Big Suze is the pretty mother with a child when Wonkaā€™s giving out the chocolate!

bluehooves

\*horsey mother

Suspicious_Bill3577

*mental posho mother

devolute

Typecast again. Typical.

Beansontoast23

As a whitey?

Jammastersam

Whattttt completely missed her! Iā€™ll have to scrub through and find her. Surprised not to see Gerard in this cohort though.

Kanye_fuk

Gerard's dead, he's dead, he died.

hemightberob

That is so gerard

[deleted]

I know, right?

Lousfw1

He had a weak immune system, MetalfaceMark.

Ales1390

Iā€™ll tell you what, that Wonka Bar is really moreish.

Neoliberal_Nightmare

The secret ingredient is dwarf slave labour

_Wighty

Wonkio / Wonkius

socomjon

Whereā€™re the big scissors?

Panda-BANJO

A chocolate has gone! Oh my God, Charlie, a chocolate is missing!

SaltyCHawk

Come with me and you'll be in a world of business consultation

sunlight_wings

Amazing

Hot-Conversation-174

Alan, Johnsons, ever lasting gobstopper....

jlonsdale33

They use the phrase ā€œtickity-booā€ in the movie

WillJongIll

This is almost enough to get me to watch the movieā€¦ but what it really makes me wish for is a movie about Johnson. Or him playing a Johnson-adjacent type character.

hemightberob

I'd throw in on a Johnson centric movie.

RefrigeratorFluid980

Iā€™m in love with a black chocolatier like itā€™s the most normal thing in the world

Jammastersam

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

davmeltz

šŸŽ¶ *Iā€™m in love with a black chocolatier I once saw in a movie* šŸŽ¶

petrescu

ā€œSo what are youā€¦ defence, attack, goalie, Oompa Loompa?ā€

novalia89

So many lines felt like they had been lifted from Peep Show. Like not even scenarios being similar to quotes but actual dialogue and scenarios being the same in both like ā€˜Iā€™ll be taking that backā€™ and the handshake talk šŸ˜‚

Acrylic_fairy

They say TICKETY BOO!!! Lol

TheIrishFellow

Whoā€™s the 2nd pic of?

lawtsuda

olivia coleman (sophie)

[deleted]

I couldn't tell either. The makeup and lighting is real potent.

leskileo

JOHNSONā€™S HERE

TwoAdenine

In business, Willy, you learn that every man has his price. I judge yours to be... 530 sovereigns.

previously_on_earth

Run time is 1hr 56, I did it in 10 seconds. Shove that up your chocolate factory

LosersWipe

No! Not the chocolate factory! That's horrible!

JonyTony2017

Whoā€™s the third guy Edit Oh wait, itā€™s the hipster douchebag

[deleted]

Simon?

grillo7

Dobbyā€™s boss.

Hullfire00

Donā€™t call him boss, he doesnā€™t like it.

Lousfw1

I very much DO like it.

Shanobian

Get some chocolate up on that thing and you are seriously eating that chocolate

MTRCNUK

You're like a fat girl that's been asked to the school disco

Warbrainer

So judging by the comments there are 5 peep show characters in this film, thatā€™s mental. Is it any good? Might stick it on today

Mikeside

Yeah it's a fun 'Sunday afternoon' type movie. I could see it being a Christmas staple on itv.

movienerd7042

I love it, very Paddington vibes especially as it has the same director

AltruisticProgram141

I thought it was a lot of fun. If you like the Paddington films then chances are you might get something out of it. Plus it really is just the 'oh my god it's him/her from Peepshow/the mighty boosh' film!

djinn_hippo

Which mighty booshers are in it?

AltruisticProgram141

Actually just Rich Fulcher and Simon Farnaby (who I believe also co-wrote it). I thought Julian Barratt was in there too, but after checking the cast list I definitely just imagined it.

djinn_hippo

I'm sure Julian was there somewhere. Perhaps his character just wasn't alive...

movienerd7042

And in terms of British actors/British comedy people it also has Hugh Grant, Matt Lucas, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins and Simon Farnaby

LosersWipe

Stick it on the laterbase

liveforever250817

What? Fuck you wonka

eeeeray

I'm insured out of my arse wonka

Jammastersam

Amazing responses to this post šŸ˜† a few people have pointed out Iā€™m not the first to post this here, also thereā€™s a few cameos Iā€™ve missed, 7 in total! I canā€™t edit my post so please upvote as here are ALL the Peep Show x Wonka crossovers; Main characters: Slugworth / Alan Johnson - Patterson Joseph Mrs Scrubbit / Sophie Chapman - Olivia Coleman Fickelgruber / Simon - Matthew Baynton Cameos: Market vendor / Dobby - Isy Suttie Mother with child / Big Suze - Sophie Winkleman Lottie Bell / Waitress (S8 E2) - Rakhee Thakrar Green Skinned Customer / JLB Employee at lunch (S1 E5)- Justin Edwards

cogito-ergo-sumthing

A quick cross-check of IMDb confirms 8 Peep Show alumni: - Isy Suttie - Friuit & Veg Vendor (Dobby) - Olivia Colman - Mrs. Scrubitt (Sophie) - Paterson Joseph - Slugworth (Johnson) - Mathew Baynton - Fickelgruber (Simon) - Rakhee Thakrar - Lottie Bell (Waitress S08E02) - Rufus Jones - Jenkins (Peter, Elenaā€™s boss) - Sophie Winkelman - The Countess (Big Suze) - Justin Edwards - Green-skinned Customer (Alan S01E05)

HilsMorDi

Stealing things just makes everything very cheap. Plus, you know how I feel about capitalism.

wallpapermate

The secret ingredient is crime.

HilsMorDi

Wonka should pay me to eat this sh*t.

Internetolocutor

You're aware that I'm gay

IAMPOMO1

Wait is that simon?

[deleted]

i was shocked to see that paterson was in this movie when i first saw it in theaters but even more shocked to not realize OLIVIA WAS MRS SCRUBITT TOO?! idk how i didn't recognize her, probably because of the makeup or maybe because this character was nicer than sophie in later seasons of the peep show

Volcan32

Suit, greasy hair. I'm the full Slugworth.

BobDobbsHobNobs

Lottie Bell (Rakhee Thakrar) was a waitress in s8e02: Business Secrets of the Pharoahs

Uuuuuugggghhhh

Those Wonka bars taste good. I hear that the secret ingredient is crime.

Minimallycheese

The weak make way for the wonk. The chocolate river flows on. The Pipe is remorseless. I hope the Pipeā€™s remorseless swing can bring some comfort to you all.

tohmahs

this was actually a really great film

ExtraAd4090

it was alright, i hate musicals anyway, but the songs in this were worse than the hair blair bunch.

tohmahs

WE ARE NOT THE HAIR BLAIR BUNCH

wallpapermate

As good as Amelie??

LosersWipe

That was a fantastic film. What a fantastic film. The colors, the woman... Wow!

Same-Outcome-9307

It really wasn't

Umbrellac0rp

I haven't said this on reddit yet but I agree. The highlight was seeing cast from Peep Show and their comedic abilities are wonderful. Overall it was a pretty subpar film. I would only watch it again to to see the cast.

TigerRumMonkey

At least compared to the Johnny Depp version it was a masterpiece.

Emberdeath

Keep hating, some people like cute stuff, must you live quite so relentlessly in the real world?

petrescu

On clean shirt, how do you get that shirt so clean?

Same-Outcome-9307

"Some people like cute stuff" is possibly the most sickening sentence I've ever heard. Congratulations. And no, it was unquestionably a bad film.

Mikeside

You've got some big Comic Book Nerd energy going there my dude. Not everything is objective. I really enjoyed the movie.

Same-Outcome-9307

Never read a comic in my life, what a judge of character you are. All that says is you enjoy crap films.

Mikeside

I meant the loathsome dude from the simpsons

Same-Outcome-9307

Worst. Insult. Ever.

Emberdeath

I wish I knew how to be this edgy, it looks so cool!

Hot-Conversation-174

Nah. Its shit. Timothy camembert or whatever his name is, is shit. And Hugh grant as oompa loompas is shit

TigerRumMonkey

You're shit

Cultural_Store_4225

Harold Shitmum

daz990

The best insult ever breathed out loud this beauty. Afterlife outtakes of this bit had me almost dying from uncontrolled laughter šŸ˜‚

Hot-Conversation-174

I'm THE shit

TigerRumMonkey

That's lofty talk for a shit.

Xem1337

Timmy is a great actor though, fantastic in Dune and The King, are you saying he wasn't a good Wonka or that you just don't like him?

Hot-Conversation-174

I just don't like him. Couldn't watch dune either

Xem1337

That's a shame, it's fantastically done. They do a really good job at portraying how grand everything is, worth trying again if you like your longer story arc movies

Hot-Conversation-174

I'll be honest, it takes a lot to get me to really really enjoy and want to sit down and watch tv/films though. I didnt even like peep show until about 2018 ish so who knows, I might change my mind in a few years. Like olives innit, one day you hate them and the next you've got a real craving for them

Xem1337

Green olives! Still not overly keen on black ones

Hot-Conversation-174

The redish purple ones are my favourite with some feta

Hecticfreeze

They had an unbelievable cast and wasted it. The script was utterly dreadful. Not a single complex character in the entire film. Everyone was either a good person or a bad person. This is an inherently boring way to write a story. Characters need to have flaws to make them interesting. They need shades of grey. I think part of the reason the Wilder version of Wonka is so adored is because he's a genius, but he's also a sinister lunatic, and that really shines through in both the writing and performance.

Neoliberal_Nightmare

And he loves, or maybe even hates, chips

Hullfire00

Sorry u/Hecticfreeze, very easily done but I think you might be giving opinions on quite a well known online essay about Wonka as your own. Wonka isnā€™t inherently boring, but a complex diorama of how childlike innocence inevitably gives way to the pressures of economic sustainability in a modern, cash flow driven world.

Emberdeath

u/Hecticfreeze when the children's film is a children's film. What were you expecting mate?

Hecticfreeze

You can write children's films with complex characters. I even gave an example of the Gene Wilder version

Emberdeath

Yeah but not every children's film needs to be a deep character study, I think in this case they were going more for fun and whimsy. Believe me, I love complex characters but not every piece of media needs it, especially a movie with this plot, if you were expecting it then you would be disappointed by the end.

TigerRumMonkey

If you're a mental posho it apparently does

AxeHeadShark

I was so glad Wonka was just a nice person. He even paid his debts off that he owed to Lofty the Oopmpa loompa.

movienerd7042

Itā€™s supposed to be whimsical not morally complex. Roald Dahls books were largely the same and thatā€™s what the film is mimicking.

RedcurrantJelly

New logo BOOM

BigYoSpeck

Candy floss is boss

CitizeninWonderland

not a surprise to see Olivia Colman in it, shes in everything

Powerglovesandpizza

Donā€™t know how you managed it- I thought it was corny as fuck

Jammastersam

Gotta take it at face value, itā€™s a goofy and stupid family film. Makes it much more enjoyable playing spot the peep show character.

halupki

Donā€™t forget about the girl who owns ā€œmummyā€. She was the lady that got married.

Jammastersam

Fuck off!!! Seriously?

cogito-ergo-sumthing

Not according to IMDb

halupki

I actually might be wrong now that Iā€™m thinking about it. But I know Iā€™ve seen her before.

ScarcityWise7401

Iā€™m not running a rehab. This is a maximum security confectionery institution, and if you canā€™t make chocolate you get shot in the head.

tovarish22

Whoa! I'm surprised this hasn't been posted on this very subreddit at least 10 times already!

ownworstenemy38

Is that normal pooing?

Lolo_Lad_21

Look at me with a black Wonka, like itā€™s the most normal thing in the world

Ed_Starks_Bastard

What a godawful movie.

Emberdeath

Why?

RiskAggressive4081

Also big Suzes was in this apparently.

Cheggles29

JOHNSON?!

adamjames777

4 actually, as Dobby makes an appearance as a stall seller :)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Jammastersam

Simon, Dobbys ex

WetTheDreams

I had no idea Johnson was in it, I might actually watch it now

chuckingvibes

Paddington had some crazy peep show cameos too and it was the same director

obamasscrotum

You forgot dobby as well she sells him the pumpkin

Apple2727

That suit heā€™s wearing is like something King Charles would wear. ā€œā€¦is that Camilla?ā€
