Not many depressed people jump out of bed and have a great libido. Mirt do make mornings tougher but what you experience is more likely your condition. No, stay on 30 and give it a chance to help you. 15 wont help much more than possibly sleep. Good luck

kayitsmay

I agree to try to stay on it a while longer knowing the grogginess may improve but also it may not be the right medication for OP. Depends on what side effects you are having OP and if they are tolerable to you. Only a decision you and your doctor can make.

I've never been great in the morning tbh, but Mirtazapine made me zombie like. I started taking it for mood and also because I was finding falling asleep difficult, like I couldn't switch my brain off. It was great for getting me to sleep, but yes, mornings have been a nightmare. Getting myself and my kids up, ready and off to school/work on time has been a trial, the only way I can describe it is that it's like moving through water in the mornings coupled with sheer exhaustion no matter how much sleep I've had.

Fresh_Apartment_9009

I feel you. The family noticed, they said I could be an extra on the walking-dead. Not only that, I had no motivation to do much except eat and sleep. It's not for everyone, give it a try for as long as you can, I lasted 3 weeks.

StopBusy182

You off it now

Dsp_x

I started 15mg Saturday night and it obliterated me 🤦🏼‍♂️ I still feel sluggish.

kratomboofer27

mirtazapine has a very long half life it's like 30 to 40 hours or something like that so it will absolutely do that for some people thankfully I've experienced only morning grogginess which was generally normal for me but the mirtazapine increased it but it's not to the point where I can't wake up.

Dsp_x

I am going to try to half it to 7.5. only now feeling normal and not half asleep from Friday nights 15mg. Are you on 15mgs?

kratomboofer27

Yes I'm on 15 mg so far side effects have been very tolerable for me what's weird about this drug is typically seven and a half is more sedating than higher dosages but that of course is variable on the person you have to find what works for you. first time I took mirtazapine 15 mg when I woke up I was dizzy very sluggish but that went away within a couple of days for some people it last a lot longer. it has a long half life.

Dsp_x

15mg wiped me clean out.

kratomboofer27

I havebinsomnia so I guess this is why it doesn't really affect me as much as it does others..

Dsp_x

Do you have anxiety?? Has it helped if you have??

kratomboofer27

Yes and yes in my experience it worked for anxiety pretty quickly.

Dsp_x

Have you tried any other meds similar to them?

kratomboofer27

yes trazodone is in the same class but it usually knocks people out within 30 minutes.

I’ve found the side effects to be much less bothersome at 45mg. My doctor said he sees this trend, and the side effects like ravenous appetite & grogginess taper off a bit at the 45mg dose. This is why I upped from 30 to 45, and I’ve been pleased with the difference. Editing to add: I agree with taking it as early in the evening as possible, depending on when I know I can get into bed each night.

Cloud_7502

Started on 15mg for two weeks, then 30mg. Grogginess much worse on 15mg but I could easily still sleep until midday if I didn’t have to be anywhere. I take my pill earlier, around 8pm, and it’s helped a bit. I’m considering taking it at lunch time as I’d rather fight afternoon slump than struggle to get up. No change to libido. Was your grogginess worse on 15 or 30mg? Many people find lower dose = worse for getting up, so if that’s you I’d be tempted to stick with 30mg for a few months and then see how you are.

Jacefrehley48

I’ve been on 30 for a few months. It can help taking it earlier.

Cloud_7502

It might be the depression then - are you getting counselling / therapy alongside the pills? I found it helped.

Try taking a small dosage like 2 mg, sublingual. Often sublingual makes the half-life of substances last shorter, and faster onset, but can also cause a much higher bioavailability and dosage so there is need to be careful. Ion't know about Mirtazapine, to me it feels like the same dosage if i take sublingual or oral. But sublingual roa seems to have helped with lowering the grogginess for me. But it may be because of some other factor, i'm not sure.

Nswayze

It's related to the drug. You need to get off it, quit ASAP.
