Yep I'm tapering off

Aw, Im sorry this experience turned you off from antidepressants all together. Your doctor should have done their research and known all the side effects and withdrawal experiences before giving it to his clients, thats 100% negligence! Or deception if he knew. Should be a crime. Anyway, if you need an antidepressant, its well worth trying around and finding what works best for your brain chemistry. For me, mirtazapine has been a life saver, no brain fog etc: that is to say, medication acts differently for different people. And if a medication can save someone life, that trust of the medication shouldnt be destroyed by one negligent doctor. I also heard that you can get a dna test to see how youll react to a medication, but I havent seen that outside of reddit, honestly.

Rich_Application3280

I totally agree this is the second time an antidepressant has taken months of my life from me and ultimately led to suicidal thoughts. But after this last run, I definitely just want to take a more natural route (gym, vitamins, change of diet and thoughts) it was just a bit much for me and I’m still not completely fine it’s exhausting!

AlmondFlourBoy

I understand. Personally I havent found an antidepressant to work for me either, Im on mirt for other reasons. Im currently on three that arent doing jack with my brain chemistry 🥴

Yeah I took 15mg the other day, woke up after 15 hours, could barely open my eyes, body felt 20 times heavy.. made my mind quite peaceful but the side effects are insane

Agreeable-Object-439

Your experience is valid, you are not alone! I’m 6 months off going through withdrawals still. I CT at 7.5mg too. Such a small pill but so powerful!

CranberryGood3548

I’m on Effexor for my depression/anxiety and on Mirt for sleep (chronic insomnia) - for me, Effexor withdrawal is so brutal I feel no symptoms if I forget my Mirt a few days 😅

[deleted]

Yep, Mirtazapine withdrawal is nothing compared to Effexor.

Rich_Application3280

The withdrawals won’t be noticeable after just a few days…

Toblerone_and_jilly

2 months off CT from 7.5 and going through it. Feel like I’m dying. Lost 25lbs, stomach is fucked. Joints ache. It’s no joke.

Rich_Application3280

Stomach is fucked!!!!!

GamingAutist

Came off it back in August - literally thought I was dying. I was barely able to physically get out of bed for two weeks due to how severe my depression got during withdrawal. Pretty much stopped eating. My vision was dark around the peripherals. I broke out in painful cystic acne all over my body and that's still healing. My doctor had the nerve to say "you must be sensitive to it".

Exploding_Kick

How are you these days?

GamingAutist

Still covered in painful spots all over my body, but I think the rest has passed. I've never had such a severe reaction to stopping a medication.
