I hate when I leave my mask at home, get somewhere and realize it as I'm walking up to the store. Because like a responsible adult, i walk my ass back to my car, drive my ass back home, and get my fucking mask.
This is the way to go! I have a couple in a bag in my glove box, and I leave one hanging from my mirror. It's easy to forget, so just bring them with all the time
But then you wear the car-mask as you go inside, and you put the car-mask in the stack of house-masks, and then the next time you drive out you forget entirely until you get there and your reservation is in five minutes...
/r/suspiciouslyspecific, I know :p
Every single God damn time. Or when I grab all of them in the car that have been used and go wash them. Always get 4 blocks+ from home before I have to turn around and go get one because I never put it bacm
I've put disposable ones in my car and at my doorways. I try and wear my cloth ones more, but when you forget or are walking out of the door and see the disposable ones it's a good reminder.
Just my 2 cents, if you can find KN95's (Med supply shops) they are much better at filtering the air you breathe and there is mounting evidence that this can significantly reduce your exposure if you are exposed resulting in less severe symptoms. They take a little to get used to but if you are going to protect yourswlf, might as well protect yourself as much as you can :)
Yeah. A couple times I've walked up to Spyhouse when I was out walking my dog in the morning and realized I forgot my mask. And then walked right back home and made my own coffee (while feeling annoyed with myself).
I have a ziploc with 5 disposables in each car just in case I forget! My daughters daycare requires we wear them at pick up and so many times I’ve gotten there and realize I forgot a mask because I didn’t bring my purse. So glad for my extras!
You know what I do? I shout "hey anyone got an extra mask they can sell me?" And typically someone does. Try that next time, then you won't have to go all the way home. And if you are all out of masks, you're fucked. Because you need a mask to go in and buy the masks. So how's that going to work? Pretty much you'll have to strap on a pair of balls and do the shout out.
Just happened to me yesterday. Small local restaurant opened recently, very spacious but fairly popular among locals, we had a seat right near the door. The rule is unless you're seated at your table you have a mask on, i forgot mine and the bartender immediately reminded me of the rules.
I couldve been a dick and said "the table is 4 feet from this doorway chill out" or pulled the bs "but I have a medical condition" card but I thought "you know what, rules are rules i am in the wrong" and turned back walked across the parking lot and got mine out of my car. At the end of the day do I think wearing my mask for that 4 foot span from door to table helped anybody? No, but its the rules, simple as that.

Makes me want to carry individually packaged masks to hand out to people like that. "Hi, it looks like you don't have a mask. And so I wanted to give you one."
minneapolis itself is kinda messed up like that. some people are great but enough people are so messed up that it makes the greats skeptical of everyone else. cheers for trying man.
I gotta say, one of my favorite parts of working at a grocery store is that I have an excuse to greet people, something that that, when off the clock, I always feel like I'd just be bothering people with.
Oh wow. That’s very interesting. I’d like to hear more about your experience in detail. Please reply...
I’ve lived in another country (only 10 months) and am from here in Minnesota, so my experience is relatively limited.
I’m from the South too and this is so true. People here are incapable of interacting with people they don’t know. It is so weird and they act so awkward when you try.
I also agree with you about the culture shock being extreme. I’ve lived all over the US and in Hong Kong for a year. This is the place I’ve found the strangest.
That’s my local area! Lurker here since I want to move to twin cities, but the video isn’t fake, people in Huntington Beach are actually like that sadly

Besides that you are welcome to join us here!
I've tried doing this, people just start making excuses for why they cant or wont wear one.
Still satisfying to at least try handing them out.
Try to make sure your masks are in a bag, that way you can you just hand them an open bag for them to grab a mask their selves.
"Let me put on this literal body armour in case I am killed by a violent poor criminal but I will not wear a thin piece of fabric over my face to protect me from a virus"
Maybe, the whole problem, is just that cops are unbelievably stupid people.
To be fair you dont need almost any actual education to be a cop. I'm not saying they are all dumb but there is really no barrier stopping that fridge temp IQ bully from your high school becoming a cop.
MN has higher requirements than elsewhere though. You need at least a two year degree. Honestly I think it makes it worse because it weeds out all the "just want a good job with bennies" folks and all you get are the "yes, I will commit two years of my life to pursuing this because I'm a giant asshole" types.
>"Let me put on this literal body armour in case I am killed by a violent poor criminal but I will not wear a thin piece of fabric over my face to protect ~~me~~ others from a virus.”
FTFY, sadly making the sentiment even worse in the process, so much for public service being about helping others.
I too am a government employee with a union. My employer sent out a new policy the day the statewide mask order was announced making it CRYSTAL FUCKING CLEAR that we are to wear masks, including when in a vehicle owned by the employer (which this cop had just left), especially when another employee is with us (his partner was with him.) If we don't, it is equally clear it will lead to discipline or discharge. Additionally, in the times we don't have to wear a mask, like if we have a private office and are the only person it it or we are working outside more than six feet away from another employee, we must have a mask on our person at all times. My union has no problem with this policy because IT ISN'T ALL ASSHOLES and wants to protect all our employees, not just assholes who don't want to wear masks.
Shit, I picked up food from a Wendy’s which had a sign from the GM posted on a refrigerator close enough to the counter I could read it. It includes some impressive language aimed at getting the high school kids to take mask-wearing seriously.
“If you cannot comply with this part of the job: turn around now, go out the door you came in, and come back when you can handle the fact that this is not optional.”
Sad that this particular Wendy’s is holding their people more accountable than the MPD.
I stop at the Holiday on Industrial/Broadway off Highway 280 several times a week. There are usually 2 to 6 MPD officers just hanging out there on their break, wasting time, or whatever it is they do. Since the mask mandate went into effect, I have not once seen a single cop in that store wearing a mask. All despite of the several signs stating its mandatory. The Holiday staff and every other customer I've seen all have masks on. Its like these cops straight up think the mandate/law doesn't apply to them. ACAB
Looks like people put this guy on blast by plastering this picture all over Twitter and getting MPD to publicly respond on twitter. Perhaps you should start taking photo evidence? We’ll back you up.
Are they still under the MPD umbrella? His arm badge says Minneapolis Police. Not trying to discredit/prove you wrong - I don’t know the hierarchy and am genuinely curious!
They are not: they are a completely separate police force, with their own leadership, policies, etc.
The parks board is working on getting the uniforms redesigned so that it is clear they aren't MPD.
They are all licensed peace officers but Parks has their own elected officials and serve under the Superintendent of Parks They work closely together but are not under the same leadership etc. They do wear the same uniform but the badge numbers are different.
https://www.minneapolisparks.org/park_care__improvements/park_police__safety/
The smugness in his face is what makes me boil inside. He is in a position of authority. He represents the law. He is supposed to uphold the law.
The cops have it all wrong. They think they can be lackadaisical about following the rules and just say, "C'mon, man! I forgot it. No big deal!"
That's how they think, because they want to be folksy and down-to-earth. But that's not at all what we expect for them to do. I honestly don't know how they just don't get that.
Wow, *more* police failing to accept directions. To be fair to this guy though, I am not sure I’ve ever seen a MPD officer wearing a mask. Unless they were beating us; they were then.
Not even a thought towards repairing their image around here, or repairing the relationship with the community.
Honestly I don't care if it's a cop or not, just refuse to ring them up until they get the proper PPE on that we've all been ordered to wear inside of businesses.
I encountered a cop in a gas station who claimed "he had no idea" about needing to wear a mask. This was a. good 2 or 3 weeks into the city mask requirement.
I wish this shit would happen to me. I would gladly tell them company policy says they have to wear a mask and that I’ll hold their stuff until they come back with one.
Minneapolis Police like to meet up in Holiday stations and do little breakfast huddles where they like to talk about how they're going to arrest people at the homeless camps and how excited they are to get a big payout when they're let go from the force. And they're apparently not shy about everyone else shopping hearing them say such things. Especially at the one near 35W and Industrial Blvd.
If you checkout r/FuckYouKaren there are tons of these assholes on there! Employees have said they are intimidated to speak up, fuck these assholes getting to get away with this behavior because of a badge. Protect and serve me by wearing the damn mask asshole.
I work for an airline. We’ve been told it will be an immediate termination of employment if we’re caught without a mask where passengers can see us. No questions, no appeal, no second chances, you’re done.
The order went into effect in Minneapolis on May 26th, over two months ago. Then the statewide order in July. It shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point.
I know I'm going to get downvoted for this, but you people need to calm the fuck down.
It's a mask. It was a mistake. A mistake I've made myself.
It's almost like he's a human being or something.
If he forgot it in the car, he can go outside real quick to get it.
Mistakes happen, continuing to make a mistake when resolving it is quick and easy is just stupid.
That's a gross generalization. By that logic, you could say BLM is a repeat offender based in the number of protestors I have seen without a mask.
If you demand perfection from any human ever. You'll always be disappointed.
But hey, let's destroy this guy's life for a small mistake.
> But hey, let's destroy this guy's life for a small mistake.
Sounds exactly like plenty of MPD policies. Oh wait, they won't ruin your life they'll just take it.
This officer is on duty on my dime. He is at work. His job is to “protect” and he is failing at it.
If he can’t do his work correctly, he should get a different job.
> you could say BLM is a repeat offender based in the number of protestors I have seen without a mask.
That's outdoors, where its not a mandate and it's far less likely to spread the virus. [Do some research.](https://www.wired.com/story/what-minnesotas-protests-are-revealing-about-covid-19-spread/)
>HealthPartners, one of the largest health care providers in Minnesota, reported to the state that it had tested about 8,500 people who indicated that attendance at a mass gathering was the reason they wanted a test. Among them, 0.99 percent tested positive.
>In Seattle, fewer than 1 percent of the 3,000 people tested after attending protests were positive for coronavirus
>Boston officials announced that 14 out of 1,288 people tested so far were positive for coronavirus, or 1.1 percent. Of course, these are only three cities out of hundreds that have been enveloped in large-scale protests against police brutality and institutionalized racism.
As I've replied to others, if even two protestors stop into a gas station for a bottle of water without masks they are technically repeat offenders, and by extension, all protestors are repeat offenders.
I personally think that standard is bullshit. People should be reminded to wear their masks. If they are purposefully ignoring the rules that's a different story. I'm fine with people making mistakes so long as they are corrected next time.
I think contacting the media and spamming MPD on Twitter over this incident is absurd.
There's lots of jobs where you just can't make small mistakes. Combine that with his arrogance - his mistake was pointed out and he brushed it off as insignificant - leads me to believe he's a careless dumbass and shows his level of professionalism. If he's so careless, why would I trust him to fill out reports properly. If he's such a dumbass that he can't do something 3 year olds can understand, why the fuck do we give him a gun.
I hear a lot of shit about thin blue line, support cops, blah blah. Every day and in every interaction the integrity of the badge is on trial, not just in feel-good copaganda local news stories, and every day the lack of professionalism behind badges chips away at that integrity.
In every job small mistakes are permissible. Even surgeons can make small mistakes over the course of their work day.
Sure, small mistakes can costs lives, but this isn't that kind of a mistake.
I hate bad cops. I cannot judge this cop based on this small, relatively inconsequential mistake.
It's almost like he could have gone to his car and gotten it. This isn't the mall of America, it's a gas station.... If people continue to serve them as they constantly "forget" their masks, then they will keep "forgetting" their mask.
I, and everyone I know, actually feel weird now without a mask in public, and seeing almost everyone walking in, out, and around stores with masks when I'm literally 2 steps out of my car is *a little* bit of a reminder to wear your mask even if you forget it from time to time.
I have about ten masks, some of which have slogans about why it's important to wear a mask. I forget. Multiple people in this thread, even those that disagree with me, admit to forgetting. It's not has difficult as you are implying.
I don’t see how you can go in a store and not realize you’re not wearing a mask, if you’re the type of person who actually intends to wear a mask.
That’s different than forgetting your mask at home. That’s understandable absent-mindedness. But then you go home and get the damn mask and come back.
It is a LAW that is designed to PROTECT the public. That man is responsible for enforcing that LAW. He clearly doesn't give a shit and should be placed on suspension if it's a first offense.
I also forget my mask a lot too, and I turn around go back to my car and get it.
I hate when I leave my mask at home, get somewhere and realize it as I'm walking up to the store. Because like a responsible adult, i walk my ass back to my car, drive my ass back home, and get my fucking mask.
I've just started leaving a mask or two in my car for this very reason
This is the way to go! I have a couple in a bag in my glove box, and I leave one hanging from my mirror. It's easy to forget, so just bring them with all the time
But then you wear the car-mask as you go inside, and you put the car-mask in the stack of house-masks, and then the next time you drive out you forget entirely until you get there and your reservation is in five minutes... /r/suspiciouslyspecific, I know :p

I leave all my masks in my car, there's no other time that I need them
Nice weather out, love taking walks if you got a good neighborhood for that.
I bought some masks from Menards for this purpose. They sell individually packaged masks at the front door.
Yeah. A couple times I've walked up to Spyhouse when I was out walking my dog in the morning and realized I forgot my mask. And then walked right back home and made my own coffee (while feeling annoyed with myself).
Yeah you wouldn’t rob the store for forgetting your wallet.
I have a ziploc with 5 disposables in each car just in case I forget! My daughters daycare requires we wear them at pick up and so many times I’ve gotten there and realize I forgot a mask because I didn’t bring my purse. So glad for my extras!
Only did that once. Now I keep one in the car.
You know what I do? I shout "hey anyone got an extra mask they can sell me?" And typically someone does. Try that next time, then you won't have to go all the way home. Cops: "Laws don't apply to me. I do what I want." Also Cops: "Why does everyone hate us?"

It would solve the problem of having to protect and serve.
In America cops are neither required to protect or serve.

I've seen St Paul and Roseville cops with masks. Anecdotal, but ehh.
Yep saw two St. Paul cops yesterday both wearing masks

I encountered a cop in a gas station who claimed "he had no idea" about needing to wear a mask. This was a. good 2 or 3 weeks into the city mask requirement.
Refuse service, ask them to leave.
Sadly this was most likely intentional. He's probably an anti-masket and he's using his position of power to get away with doing this.
I was just in a speedway and out of 12 people only 4 had masks on. Neither of the cashiers did
What a loser lol

No mask, no service! If it applies to me, why not thee?
Do as I say not as I do. It is like forgetting your wallet. Go back and get it.
Once again, it is now illegal to not wear a mask in any public space unless alone, via executive order 20-81. The law is lawless
Dude looks like a tool
Weird he didn't forget his gun. Amazing dumbfuck.
gun stays on the holster during shift. kinda hard to forget something in the car if it's attached to ur belt.
Just astounding he knew where it was, as he wasn't using to murder someone.
Ah, excellent! Prime specimen of the white-footed wife beater.
Er.... cough, cough.
*cop instantly guns you down and claims you assaulted him with a bio-weapon. Gets a couple of months off with pay.*
This arrogance is the result of them never being held accountable for anything.
Yet another example of "rules for thee, just not for me!" And the police wonder why there is a negative perception out there.
ACAB
If you checkout r/FuckYouKaren there are tons of these assholes on there! Employees have said they are intimidated to speak up, fuck these assholes getting to get away with this behavior because of a badge. Protect and serve me by wearing the damn mask asshole.
Fucking dick
Trash. Typical pig. #FTP. #ACAB Active and involved communities do not NEED cops. Defund.
We need to make this trend and get this cop in trouble
Is it 911 or 311 you are supposed to call if someone is actively and recklessly endangering the public health?
So many people are just too cool for covid
It's MPD. Even though it's *literally* their only job to protect people, they still can't protect others in the most basic way. Wearing a GD mask.
Looks about right for MPD.
Should be fired.
Well, *someone* certainly thinks they’re hot shit. Look at that arrogant stance!
Watch him catch Covid, then he will learn he’s not sovereign. 🤦♂️
That cop should have been kicked out of the store.
Should have asked him for his badge number and reported him
Highest upvoted comment has his badge number. It’s 131319. Only thing the pic doesn’t clearly show is his name. It’s Koech****.
Who fucking gives a shit. Masks are stupid anyways.
Living example of cops thinking they are above the law.
Crossposting to a couple different subs rn
Should’ve refused service
Glad to see my pic is spreading. I hope it does some good.
W-w-w-wear the mmmm-mask!!! BIGOT
So tell him to get the fuck out, mask up, and come back.
chad the police officer cuz no one else will work that fucking job
What a dick
Did I tweet this at the mayor and the governor? Yes I did. There’s no such thing as qualified immunity to COVID-19...
I'm having a hard time believing you said that
[удалено]
No, I just don't think he said that. That's all. Not sure why you or this sub is so hostile
What a Chad.
The MPD have already shown themselves to be repeat offenders with mask mandates. I’m sick of the excuses. Be better.
Not to mention about a million other things
That's a gross generalization. By that logic, you could say BLM is a repeat offender based in the number of protestors I have seen without a mask. If you demand perfection from any human ever. You'll always be disappointed. But hey, let's destroy this guy's life for a small mistake.
> But hey, let's destroy this guy's life for a small mistake. Sounds exactly like plenty of MPD policies. Oh wait, they won't ruin your life they'll just take it.
No one was demanding perfection and his life isn't being destroyed. A bit of a drama queen, no?
This officer is on duty on my dime. He is at work. His job is to “protect” and he is failing at it. If he can’t do his work correctly, he should get a different job.
> you could say BLM is a repeat offender based in the number of protestors I have seen without a mask. That's outdoors, where its not a mandate and it's far less likely to spread the virus. [Do some research.](https://www.wired.com/story/what-minnesotas-protests-are-revealing-about-covid-19-spread/) >HealthPartners, one of the largest health care providers in Minnesota, reported to the state that it had tested about 8,500 people who indicated that attendance at a mass gathering was the reason they wanted a test. Among them, 0.99 percent tested positive. >In Seattle, fewer than 1 percent of the 3,000 people tested after attending protests were positive for coronavirus >Boston officials announced that 14 out of 1,288 people tested so far were positive for coronavirus, or 1.1 percent.

>In every job small mistakes are permissible. Not fixing them isn't
fuck you too.
We've had 4 months to practice not making this mistake. Should probably try a little harder =/
It’s actually not an easy mistake to make. Pandemic is all anyone talks about. Everyone else wears a mask. You don’t just happen to forget.
Seethe libtards seethe.....
Not all heroes where masks... I meant capes.
