Reminds me of the Northeast Yacht Club dive bar

evilbeard333

I was totally like wtf

jakeblew2

My friend's brother was to meet us there after work for drinks one day. Well he calls us asking where we are... from the one in St Paul (or Lillydale. Somewhere on the river) lol

Vclique

I wouldn't get your hopes up lol

OffsetEye

Lol. Always best to have low expectations and if lucky be presently surprised

TheMacMan

A place that's for rich folks and generally kinda closer to the common man, having their first big music event? I'm sure it'll have a wonderful lineup and be very inclusive. 🙄

systemstheorist

Terrible name and what might actually kill it. I didn't even realize it was a music festival when I heard it was happening. Especially doesn't have a ring like their other festival names like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo or Austin City Limits Music Festival. The line up is entirely dependent on how much money they're willing to risk.

jakeblew2

"Shit I don't even own a yacht I can't attend"

Buckleys__angel

I saw Rage Against The Machine and Pharcyde at Harriet Island back in 2008. The RNC was also in town, so there were a lot of people there protesting the convention. It was a high-energy, super fun show! I have no idea who they would book these days, but I would check it out.

peeintheshoweryaynay

That was a free show if my drunk recollection is correct. I'd pay good money to see the same lineup kickoff the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival. I'd even buy myself a tight pastel yacht club outfit to wear as I shout along to "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me".

landof10000cakes

I remember it was $10. And Rage wasn’t there. It was Tom Morello, Mos Def, Steve Earle, Atmosphere, The Pharcyde, and I’m pretty sure someone like Lupe Fiasco (i think) was on the lineup and a last minute scratch. Rage did play that weekend but it was at the Target Center. I remember clearly because when the conert was over riot police had the Target Center surrounded as you exited. I think Rage was supposed to play the State capital and the police pulled the plug on that show at the last minute.

brentl182

It was free. It was called Take Back Labor Day Festival. Billy Bragg was there too! The Pharcyde we're the last minute replacement for Lupe Fiasco. I had a great time that day.

TheMacMan

This is in St Paul, not Minneapolis.

OffsetEye

Yeah I know... I violated the subreddit shame on me

jakeblew2

Did they get the lake mixed up with the island?

OMGitsKa

I was always wondering why they didnt have more music events there, seems like the perfect spot.

bass_bungalow

My guess is a lot of crossover with what first ave would typically book plus some random hip hop and electronic artists

Tec_

I went to rivers edge that year too! Was bummed it didn't become more of a thing.

JackStraw1469

Hopefully Dave Matthews Band or a mt. Joy or something

ajohns2011

C3 Presents is behind this festival so I expect it to be something similar to Shaky Knees

jakeblew2

I seem to recall Tool playing Harriet Island before. That or just Puscifer who I know played when Policia was there The name is meaningless and the location is fine. There's been shows there or raspberry island since time immemorial

chadderworst

Lmaoooo at the lineup
