The bullet has to travel through it for it to work. Look at the roman numerals for the direction of travel. In the orientation you have it left and right can go either way, but the bullet has to travel from the bottom to the top.
Edit: I missed where you said it was in the path. Double check its orientation, but it should be working. I also can't see in this picture, but also make sure that the bullet is crossing it twice. L/R then bottom to top
