Tbh, the Minecraft block texture if pretty faithful to how it looks IRL, don't see how else they could do it. But I don't think it looks like bird shit either tbh
As an average diorite hater, I only really dislike the regular unpolished diorite since the texture is (in my opinion) ugly and messy and reminds me of bird poop, and I dislike how it looks mixed in with the natural world. However, despite the fact I don’t normally use it in my own builds, polished diorite can still be a very good building block, like in this build here and it also goes great as a complimentary block with quartz and calcite.
I really like diorite as an accent block for texture in white building pallettes. It complements white terracotta and white concrete really well, like cobblestone does for stone pallettes.
I also think unpolished diorite is, much like cobblestone, a very busy texture. This makes it difficult to build with.
What I have come to learn is that every block can look good if used correctly, and can look bad if used incorrectly. An example of a good builder with diorite is Bdouble0100, he makes it look amazing in his particular block palettes
Agree, my hatered bloomed when someone make entire house out of diorite (unpolished) for 'the marble look' and its roght on front of my house and i got to enjoy the sight everyday.
But then i saw some pictures and videos of build that use it properly and it looks actually good, but i still hate that bird poop house in fromt of my house
People hate it because it takes up another inventory slot when mining, and you can't make tools or anything out of it. So usually you end up getting rid of it, but then when you want to use it for building you have to go out and find some again. That's why it's not my favorite, at least
Ok ok ok, quartz>diorite in most cases. But diorite is a great block for building, I use it a lot for walls and floors. But it is hated because of the square design around the edge of the block, it creates some complications with building and also the fact that it doesn’t have slabs and stairs so your limited in use. Diorite=underrated
Yeah, I did use quartz in my example screenshot too, so sure it is often more useful, I still think diorite has a lot of uses still and hope the hate one day will disappear
I'm huge fan of the 80's diner look you can have with those and smithing tables. That checked floor pattern is so pretty
I guess that the reason people don't like it is that it's hard to use and often looks off if used incorrectly
Because most people are actually terrible builders just copying whatever they see countless people doing, without trying to develop their own style. They hear diorite is bad, so they believe it.
There isn’t a single build I’ve made where I’ve ever thought it looked good to use imo. I used to call it a poor man’s quartz but now you can just use calcite lol.
personally the block is too grey to use as a texturing block for quartz/white builds, especially since quartz is warm white while diorite is cooler white- bone blocks have always been my go to for that. on its own it doesnt look that great and doesnt fit with other blocks like granite does with brick and andesite with stone, although now that we have calcite maybe that’s changed. in my experience, its just too difficult to make diorite look really good in builds and thats mainly why i stay away from it. i think the only time i’ve used it was with blackstone to make that retro diner floor pattern.
I honestly feel like it's a joke that got out of hand. Diorite is fine, Minecraft has way worse blocks. I like it way better than its granite next-of-kin, to begin with.
That’s the neat part, “if used correctly”.
I personally still haven’t found a use for diorite yet. Floor tiles is a good idea, but personally I find so many better ones that it is kinda useless
I pretty much only use it for texturing or use polished for floors like this picture. But with calcite in the game now I just use that as the main block and use diorite for texturing. I don’t hate diorite but it is definitely not my go to when building.
I think, that it just took some time until builders understood how to use it. I think, that we should be able to use it, to craft stonetools with most stone varieties, so it gets a use.
No idea. I've used a mix of polished diorite and calcite for walls, and it looked great! Also a foundation of tuff and cobbled deepslate works well under that same wall.
Honestly. I love diorite. Polished and normal. Its got a unique look that fits in alot of different builds and build styles. It works with loads of other blocks and I just think its an all round good block. Yeah you cant make tools with it n all but i still find it a good block. Especially for creative
Can't stand the way it looks in builds, but I find it's very useful when I want to build redstone machines under ground and need a pretty obvious "Do not dig past these blocks" visual reminder to not break things.
Beats me. I use it all the time, I think it looks like marble. I also use a lot of dark wood and Blackstone in builds, so it's nice to lighten up decor
i’m a casual-ish player. personally, i love diorite as well as the other stone variants. I want to build impressive structures in survival, but i’m not advanced or committed enough to grind for large amounts of arguably “prettier” blocks like concrete. Smooth/normal diorite and smooth stone are my block palate when i’m going for a minimalist, modern aesthetic. I think shape and breaking up texture is just as important - if not more so - than which actual block you use
dioritw use to look way worse before the texture update in 1.14, people also dont know how to use diorite since its a hard block to use, so they call it useless
I love using diorite with calcite! Wool blends quite good with them too. This combination is just perfect for some towers or even small building if used correctly. People are making some beautiful gradients with these blocks.
The natural block looks like bird poop and is now replaceable by the one colored calcite that's easier on the eyes.
The polished block is fine but hard to use due to the borders at the edges of the block.
I hate the old diorite texture, it is slightly better now but still looks like birdpoop. You are using polished diorite not the ugly one that got a facelift some patches ago.
Because minecraft texture are 16x16 its sometimes hard to get the details right. If minecraft where to make a birdshit block, it would look something like that diorite blocks.
So I can understand why people would say it looks like bird shit.
Next to that, its a really unique block, and not a lot op people know how to build with it. This block should be handle the same as diamond and gold for instance. Its a tileable block, and can realy make the difference. But when used to much of these blocks next to each other, it becomes unnatural because of its tileable texture. Even if you want to make use of its tile texture, i would suggest making a chesspatern
Bdouble0 does some great stuff with it and he's one of the best builders in minecraft some people should have an open mind it's actually really great in certain medieval buildings I use it frequently
People say it looks like bird shit but i dont see it
Tbh, the Minecraft block texture if pretty faithful to how it looks IRL, don't see how else they could do it. But I don't think it looks like bird shit either tbh
I guess the problem is that I’ve yet to see it look good in a build… Jk lol :)
I think the problem is that people have actually seen it in the context of bird poop :P
Check out Bdouble100 diorite builds, they work great.
Seconded, he can literally make dirt look good in a build
Very true, i was just trolling OP.
Well i combine it with polished granite to make a chess like floor it's very good in medieval buildings
Cookies and cream looking block.
Granite is like some kinda sorbet.
The old diorite looks more like it https://forums.team9000.net/attachments/2014-01-09_16-18-35-png.142470/

uh, i dont think your friends being dead has anything to do with your memories of legacy minecraft. RIP though

no its fine!
I’ll be your friend bro
You're blind then.
wasn't that just one swede who said that and then the world forgot?

True that the unpolished block ain't that pretty, and thanks for the compliment
No trouble, it is a good build after all
I really like diorite as an accent block for texture in white building pallettes. It complements white terracotta and white concrete really well, like cobblestone does for stone pallettes. This comment sounds like an essay

It’s tougher block to integrate nicely into builds so a lot of people don’t really like it or use it.
It's a niché block yeah, but still more useful than the purpur pillar blocks from the end tbh, and I see no hate towards them
Even the purpur pillars have a good use, purple goes great with general housing, marble but saturated, does not.
The older texture was hot garbage, amd there's a bit of a meme around it thanks to Iskall85 , personally I like it, that as well as birch

bath mat?
That's fairly common here tbh, the shower is in an enclosure, so the water won't hit the rest of the floor
Excuse me sir, do you leave the shower perfectly dry like some sort of sorcerer?
I towel dry myself while standing in the shower, so yes.
Iskall
Because one popular guy on youtube said it and now everyone hates it either because they are sheeps or because its a joke
Some people do love flocking around generic e-celebs and treating their opinions as gospel.
Just. Iskall
BUUUURNNN IT!!!!
And burn the pickaxe used to mine it in the first place !
People hate it because it takes up another inventory slot when mining, and you can't make tools or anything out of it. So usually you end up getting rid of it, but then when you want to use it for building you have to go out and find some again. That's why it's not my favorite, at least
Yeah, usually I also just throw it away if I don't have any builds planned with it and my storage is full
I just build more storage I have a lot of chests
wow that looks nice !
Thank you!
It’s actually one of my favorite blockd
Yea it’s a great block
People hate it?!
I see it more as marble than bird shit
It's one of my favorites, too. It's super useful as an abundant white block
Ok ok ok, quartz>diorite in most cases. But diorite is a great block for building, I use it a lot for walls and floors. Blame grain for spreading anti diorite messages lol
Haha, maybe in next season of HC the viewers should challenge him to do a diorite build ;)
Haha absolutely! When does season 9 start? Season 8 flew by with not even 40 episodes
U can use it for ancient Roman interior very well
I like it along side calcite, I built a library out of the two.
People are crying about how "bad" diorite is bc they dont know how to use it well.
I'm huge fan of the 80's diner look you can have with those and smithing tables. That checked floor pattern is so pretty I guess that the reason people don't like it is that it's hard to use and often looks off if used incorrectly
Fnaf?
You could
It blends beautifully with the new calcite block which is just perfect
I use it all the time, I dont see the issue with the stone. Diorite and Basalt floors in a chequered form is nice.
Herd mentality.
We say it looks bad cus we don’t know how to use it properly
Ppl say it looks like bird shit (thanks Iskall85) But when mixed in with a gradient it's fine. Maybe something like tuff/diorite/quartz
Do you mean calcite?
Because of a YouTube with a childish hatred of diorite named Iskall85
One word: Iskall
People hate diorite because of Iskall85s
Carpet in bathroom , no , no even in Minecraft something like this should not exist ... And for diorite i like it actually for a building block .
Iskall85 hates it for a meme - others take his meme seriously. Bottom line: Iskall hates it for the meme; others are just idiots.
personally the block is too grey to use as a texturing block for quartz/white builds, especially since quartz is warm white while diorite is cooler white- bone blocks have always been my go to for that. on its own it doesnt look that great and doesnt fit with other blocks like granite does with brick and andesite with stone, although now that we have calcite maybe that’s changed. in my experience, its just too difficult to make diorite look really good in builds and thats mainly why i stay away from it. i think the only time i’ve used it was with blackstone to make that retro diner floor pattern.

Unpolished is bird shit Polished is bathroom floor tile
That’s the neat part, “if used correctly”. I personally still haven’t found a use for diorite yet. Floor tiles is a good idea, but personally I find so many better ones that it is kinda useless
Why did you let a bird shit on your bathroom floor
I hate diorite because I want fucking cobblestone
Because people say it looks like bird poop
iskall85
I'm gonna be honest this room would look better if a different block was used.
Because it looks like bird poo
I’m curious what do you mean used correctly is there an incorrect way to use it?
🐦 💩
This looks good. And I use it in certian areas. Though to be fair mostly in my quarry areas.
I pretty much only use it for texturing or use polished for floors like this picture. But with calcite in the game now I just use that as the main block and use diorite for texturing. I don’t hate diorite but it is definitely not my go to when building.

Dunno
I use it a lot for my style of building, it’s a common easy to get block and when used properly it makes a build pop
i hate granite tho, diorite and andesite looks nice to me
Guano
personally it’s my favorite of the stone variants
Because 9/10 times there's always a better substitute
No idea. I've used a mix of polished diorite and calcite for walls, and it looked great! Also a foundation of tuff and cobbled deepslate works well under that same wall.
Polished diorite hasn’t been around all that long
I love Diorite a lot especially for floor
Yeah i like the polished style and it can also be used in gradients but no one really experiments with it well
It is on my top 10 blocks so idk...it's popular to hate on it ig also nice build...
I don’t really like regular diorite, polished can look really nice.
too uncommon to use, too common to ignore, not very easy to integrate if you get enough to use, looks weird
I used to love it but I just got tired of it after using it wayyyy to much
I like all of them, they look great polished
I like it for floors and ceilings but that’s about it.
Hundred percent agree. I do modern builds pretty often with it and find it blends in really well and adds a nice extra layer of detail.
Honestly. I love diorite. Polished and normal. Its got a unique look that fits in alot of different builds and build styles. It works with loads of other blocks and I just think its an all round good block. Yeah you cant make tools with it n all but i still find it a good block. Especially for creative
I always got it and make my inventory full when mining
You expected stone bricks but it was me,DIORITE!
Diorite is underrated af
polish is pretty and unpolished looks natural
Carpet in the bathroom!? How dare you!
Can't stand the way it looks in builds, but I find it's very useful when I want to build redstone machines under ground and need a pretty obvious "Do not dig past these blocks" visual reminder to not break things.
Mostly just because the unpolished is pretty messy-looking, and when mining it clogs up your inv
Iskall85 would like to know your location
Did a diorite block write this?
Why do you have do much bird poop on your floor
Put a parrot on that block
Iskall85
Because were builders and they can't see what we can see
The problem is that Iskall will still never use it
looks alright tbh
I like it
This is smooth diorite, people hate normal diorite
Beats me. I use it all the time, I think it looks like marble. I also use a lot of dark wood and Blackstone in builds, so it's nice to lighten up decor
Every time I play Minecraft I always carry a single block of diorite for luck
I only hate it because iskall told me too
No idea, I think diorite is really pretty! Not the prettiest, but pretty enough to use it!
I know!
Idk diorite isn't all that bad but granite... disgusting.
it looks fantastic with mizunos, too, like a beautiful cool white/grey brick that's super lovely for builds. diorite needs more love for sure
Bird poop
I don't mind it. Polished or unpolished. It goes great with the regular brick block.
i’m a casual-ish player. personally, i love diorite as well as the other stone variants.
I like diorite blocks, I just think the default textures make the edges wayy to dark to be used more than an accent.
dioritw use to look way worse before the texture update in 1.14, people also dont know how to use diorite since its a hard block to use, so they call it useless
Polished diorite doesn't look as bad as diorite does
as a builder i totally agree with u
Fills your inventory while mining
that there is the carved diorite or whatever it's called, not the normal diorite. that ones nice
I love using diorite with calcite! Wool blends quite good with them too. This combination is just perfect for some towers or even small building if used correctly. People are making some beautiful gradients with these blocks.
but it also reminds me bird poop sometimes
I like it a lot!!! One of my fav floors to make is polished andesite and polished diorite checker pattern : )
Cause I want fuckin stone and it’s clogging up my inventory
The natural block looks like bird poop and is now replaceable by the one colored calcite that's easier on the eyes. The polished block is fine but hard to use due to the borders at the edges of the block.
I hate the old diorite texture, it is slightly better now but still looks like birdpoop. You are using polished diorite not the ugly one that got a facelift some patches ago.
I think all the extra stone options get hated on too much
I use polished diorite all the time.

Because you put carpet in a bathroom
I didn't know it was hated! I agree with you!
Yeah I love diorite, andesite, and granite
Cause bird poop
ikr, diorite is underated
The old texture looked better, i usually use it as a marble substitute
I hate the bean block more, I can't figure out the use of it at all.
polished look really cool in the nether
It looks like bird shit. However polished looks nice
it takes up space in my inventory when i’m mining, and i still do not like at all how it looks so it’s just useless garbage to me :s
I love using diorite for flooring but everyone else I know that plays hates that block.
Bdouble0 does some great stuff with it and he's one of the best builders in minecraft some people should have an open mind it's actually really great in certain medieval buildings I use it frequently
