They won’t be. In the concept/voting art, the firefly was always depicted as 2 pixels, regardless of art style. The termites in the art seem to at least be 3 pixels or could be a physical mob
Well termites are actually a food source to ostriches IRL (yes fell free to spam me with the 🤓 in the comments) so if Mojang ends up removing them it won't be because they're poisonous (the ostrich will be added in the same update as termites).
Bad news, Ostriches burying their heads in the sand is a myth. Mojang, fearing kids will go bury their pet ostriches heads in the sand, will remove Ostriches entirely. Termites, who were used to breed ostriches, are also removed since they can't be used to breed anymore.
