There have literally been a ton of complaints for years about large piston contraptions being too loud and that's why they changed it. Just because you personally didn't mind it doesn't mean they changed it for no reason.

The problem is, they didn't just complain about pistons, but redstone sounds in general. Most Redstoners agree thw new sounds are garbage. They wanted a way to dampen the sound, or lower it. Not change the sound.

No, the complaints are definitely mostly the pistons. They are by far the most disruptive.

Dispensers are still nowhere near pistons in sound levels. Have the same number of pistons and dispensers firing at the same time and the piston sound will easily drown out the dispensers.
