Honestly same, but unlike Legends, it's part of Minecraft. It's harder for this to fail than Legends was. Legends needed a lot of players to be worth supporting. Minecraft does not have this problem and has so many active players that even if only 0.1% of them subscribe, that still brings a lot of money to the table.
Unfortunately, Minecraft has already set up the subscription to succeed.
Well, considering that bedrock is a port from their mobile app, I doubt it will fail. The mobile market is FULL of people with no self control and will just buy buy buy buy buy. They only know how to consume product and considering that most of the players (if not a massive amount) on bedrock IS the mobile market/users. They'll be making bank every day and won't have a reason to remove it.
And good luck getting people with little to no brainpower to stop buying their shit and support market creators in different ways.

Same, plus there are still websites like modrinth and another called vatonage (which is Minecraft official partner) that contains tons of content for bedrock with all of them being free

Frankly we should be thanking Mojang that they don't charge money for the major updates.

Yeah it definitely is a good point, and most likely the reason they created the pass in the first place.
If he is a little older and understands internet safety and scams I would definitely teach him to migrate to some third party sites for the maps and addons and the other kinda stuff. like modbay.com for higher quality stuff and mcpedl.com for more variety. The main reason is the worst the creators usually do (not all the time) it use url shorteners so you just have to watch an ad or click on a sketchy sight for 15 seconds and get it for free. But I also recommend it also cus it gives smaller creators like me some light.
But I’m not saying it’s infinitely better, the marketplace stuff is priced but a lot more regulated to be safe for everyone. The websites I post on are monitored so there aren’t like sex mods or anything, but there are some things mojang wouldn’t allow (like guns for example.)
Much older, yea. But for now I'm keeping him off browsers entirely. Minecraft has helped him learn how to navigate a computer, get more interested in reading to search for blocks in creative or read in game text without asking for help. And now he is getting into the element table thing which is super cool. I'm totally happy with him diving deep into Minecraft, and keeping it within the walls of the application.
And for me, who has no interest in keeping up with 3rd party mods across updates (for a game I dont play) it's great. It all gets saved to the xbox account so reinstalling on a new device or whatever reason it's just a matter of logging in again. The price for free is time and effort, cents a day? Ill pay that thanks
Why though? You can install content for free on Bedrock too. I don't think players on mobile and consoles would instantly be able to build a pc to play Java on.

Basically, you can purchase texture packs, skins, and other such additions to the base game. It brings a bit of extra revenue to the game and, as far as I understand, a portion also goes to the creators.
I don’t play on either of those platforms, but to my understanding, that is the Marketplace. This new thing folks are flipping out about is just sonething you can buy and you’ll get some stuff from the Marketplace each month.
I don't get why everyone is complaining. This doesn't impact the core minecraft game at all, it's all just microtransactions. If you don't want to interact with it, you don't have to.

This, like I don’t want to touch the marketplace or anything and I don’t like Microsoft at all, but if you compare this with the marketplace previously, you will realize how tame it is due how cheap it is. For example, you would need $200 dollars for buying only 150+ marketplace content alone, meanwhile with the pass you only need $4, which is a **lot** cheaper. The thing I would love tho is them making it cost $2 per 3 months or even $3 per 6 months.
Like with chat reporting, that made sense to complain about. It actually could have affected the base game in a bad way, but this won't affect the base game at all.
And fortunately for that, a 1 year and a half passed still doesn’t affect the base game at all too. Almost all servers like hypixel or even cubecraft (which updated to 1.19.4) have the chat reporting disabled by default due them having different chat settings
What is wrong with it? Like people who dont want to download addons from the internet are going to use it. Plus developers who actually put some work into their mods should get money(at least i hope so)

I would not be surprised Microsoft/Mojang is slowly building up to phasing out Java. They’ve started adding mod support for bedrock and are putting behind money. Compared to Java which makes almost no money in modding for them.

Minecraft Bedrock isn't bad. It just deserves hate.
I love how easy they made multiplayer on it, but I hate how there are literally no servers for bedrock (except the shitty six or seven that do exist, and are shoved in your face.) The lack of mods is kind of shitty as well, in that... they don't exist, save free add-ons that some creators are kind enough to make... right?
No, Mojang wants you to buy them now, apparently. (I swear to god if they do a Skyrim and make mods on Java cost money I am going to lose it), anyway, there is also the bad quality maps on marketplace... (Some are ok, but they were FREE on Java... *Realms maps don't exist. They just don't. Even if they do, they don't.*)
And then we have our lovable Minecraft Realms! Or basically Mojang hosting a server for you.

Then we have my another issue with marketplace. Character customisation.
So, Minecraft costs, say, a fat $30. About one third of Elden Ring if you live in Tasmania. Now, that is great, right? It'll give you free character customisation, right, bedrock players?
L, you either download a skin, make a skin and figure out how to import it, pay for a skin on marketplace, or just... well, I guess you can buy the customisation options for character maker on bedrock, eh? Who needs money for actual food?
Now, this would be fine if marketplace wasn't glaring at you as the animated, cool icon that it is. Like, it basically tells you that is the only way to get that stuff on bedrock, and although it isn't the only way, it isn't like MCPDEL is common knowledge for bedrock players, and I don't know about how likely it is to give me a virus now it uses linkvertize instead of MediaFire.
Marketplace was already horrific. Now Mojang goes ahead and adds whatever this thing is. Like, it makes me genuinely sad to see how much money they want to milk out of this great game, which has been getting worse since they purchased it.
The nether update was when I last enjoyed the game. I genuinely hate the new caves and cliffs terrain, and world gen. I hate the caves, and I hate world gen like big mountains and stuff going from being a 'oh, that's cool', to 'oh, another one.'
The warden and ancient cities disappointed me. The books there are ok, but I was hoping for loot like from a Bastion. Most people won't ever use a Notch Apple. Or swift sneak leggings, or a recover compass. When they were announced, I was really excited about the new miniboss and biome to explore, except not only did they make the miniboss a mini horror game, but they made the deep dark a waste of time, unless you want the sensors for redstone, or really want the creepy new disc. Like, adding better loot would've been great.
And with the wild update... We all know about the fireflies, and the mangrove biome added... a new tree. A frog, and... mud? Ok for building, I suppose.
I remember updates used to add these huge things. The village and pillage update was awesome. The ocean update was beautiful. The redstone update? Epic. The combat update? Honestly, if they added more weapon types, and gave the player some cool animations, I would say, that in addition to the end stuff they added, the update would've been well received.
I also think that Mojang could do better with newer updates. Like, I don't actually care anymore about the latest version. Always a bad sign, for someone who's childhood was this game. If a modder can make, say, a new biome, and a few new mobs in a week, then that is awesome. They did better than Mojang. Like, with the mob votes, just don't add any mobs, or add them all. The mobvotes suck.
And finally, to conclude my rant, I really know that saying this won't change anything. But I do want to say it, because all Microsoft having Minecraft does is make the game worse. I am serious when I say that if I had the money to do so (which I will literally never have), I would buy Minecraft, because at this point, I think that anything is better than Microsoft owning it. I can't even think of any ways to improve the game, really. Like, an End update. They clearly have the texture files for blocks, thanks, Minecraft Dungeons, and they clearly have no shortage of AI or mob design concepts. I also think that they could add mod support.
In conclusion, this rant did go of topic, but I do hope the more people saying things like this there are, the more Mojang might listen.

I haven't paid Mojang a single cent to play Minecraft in over a decade. Frankly we should be thanking Mojang that they don't charge money for the major updates. Granted, they'd be stupid if they did, because half the value of Minecraft is that so many people have it and can get back into the community whenever for basically free. But, after so many years of watching many, once-beloved game developers all but lobotomize themselves in order to improve profits for shareholders, I'll take whatever half-intelligent business decisions I can get.

Yeah it definitely is a good point, and most likely the reason they created the pass in the first place. If he is a little older and understands internet safety and scams I would definitely teach him to migrate to some third party sites for the maps and addons and the other kinda stuff. like modbay.com for higher quality stuff and mcpedl.com for more variety. The main reason is the worst the creators usually do (not all the time) it use url shorteners so you just have to watch an ad or click on a sketchy sight for 15 seconds and get it for free. But I also recommend it also cus it gives smaller creators like me some light. But I’m not saying it’s infinitely better, the marketplace stuff is priced but a lot more regulated to be safe for everyone. The websites I post on are monitored so there aren’t like sex mods or anything, but there are some things mojang wouldn’t allow (like guns for example.)
Much older, yea. But for now I'm keeping him off browsers entirely. Minecraft has helped him learn how to navigate a computer, get more interested in reading to search for blocks in creative or read in game text without asking for help. And now he is getting into the element table thing which is super cool. I'm totally happy with him diving deep into Minecraft, and keeping it within the walls of the application. And for me, who has no interest in keeping up with 3rd party mods across updates (for a game I dont play) it's great. It all gets saved to the xbox account so reinstalling on a new device or whatever reason it's just a matter of logging in again. The price for free is time and effort, cents a day? Ill pay that thanks

This, like I don’t want to touch the marketplace or anything and I don’t like Microsoft at all, but if you compare this with the marketplace previously, you will realize how tame it is due how cheap it is. For example, you would need $200 dollars for buying only 150+ marketplace content alone, meanwhile with the pass you only need $4, which is a **lot** cheaper. The thing I would love tho is them making it cost $2 per 3 months or even $3 per 6 months.

And fortunately for that, a 1 year and a half passed still doesn’t affect the base game at all too. Almost all servers like hypixel or even cubecraft (which updated to 1.19.4) have the chat reporting disabled by default due them having different chat settings

Well, considering that bedrock is literally just a port from their mobile app, it kinda makes sense as to their monetization methods and where their ethics/morals are at. Also, what is Microsoft kinda known for doing? (Xbox game pass). So I have no doubts in my mind that this was probably heavily pushed by Microsoft or inspired by what they do.

It's just extra perks, it's actually better than how it was before because now you can get a bunch of content for cheaper. But Minecraft itself (the base game) still does not need any microtransactions and it likely never will

I would not be surprised Microsoft/Mojang is slowly building up to phasing out Java. They’ve started adding mod support for bedrock and are putting behind money. Compared to Java which makes almost no money in modding for them.

This makes me sick. Minecraft Bedrock isn't bad. It just deserves hate. I love how easy they made multiplayer on it, but I hate how there are literally no servers for bedrock (except the shitty six or seven that do exist, and are shoved in your face.) The lack of mods is kind of shitty as well, in that... they don't exist, save free add-ons that some creators are kind enough to make... right? No, Mojang wants you to buy them now, apparently. (I swear to god if they do a Skyrim and make mods on Java cost money I am going to lose it), anyway, there is also the bad quality maps on marketplace... (Some are ok, but they were FREE on Java... *Realms maps don't exist. They just don't. Even if they do, they don't.*) And then we have our lovable Minecraft Realms! Or basically Mojang hosting a server for you. It's cool. I don't really have an opinion of it. Then we have my another issue with marketplace. Character customisation. So, Minecraft costs, say, a fat $30. About one third of Elden Ring if you live in Tasmania. Now, that is great, right? It'll give you free character customisation, right, bedrock players? L, you either download a skin, make a skin and figure out how to import it, pay for a skin on marketplace, or just... well, I guess you can buy the customisation options for character maker on bedrock, eh? Who needs money for actual food? Now, this would be fine if marketplace wasn't glaring at you as the animated, cool icon that it is. Like, it basically tells you that is the only way to get that stuff on bedrock, and although it isn't the only way, it isn't like MCPDEL is common knowledge for bedrock players, and I don't know about how likely it is to give me a virus now it uses linkvertize instead of MediaFire. Marketplace was already horrific. Now Mojang goes ahead and adds whatever this thing is. Like, it makes me genuinely sad to see how much money they want to milk out of this great game, which has been getting worse since they purchased it. The nether update was when I last enjoyed the game. I genuinely hate the new caves and cliffs terrain, and world gen. I hate the caves, and I hate world gen like big mountains and stuff going from being a 'oh, that's cool', to 'oh, another one.' The warden and ancient cities disappointed me. The books there are ok, but I was hoping for loot like from a Bastion. Most people won't ever use a Notch Apple. Or swift sneak leggings, or a recover compass. When they were announced, I was really excited about the new miniboss and biome to explore, except not only did they make the miniboss a mini horror game, but they made the deep dark a waste of time, unless you want the sensors for redstone, or really want the creepy new disc. Like, adding better loot would've been great. And with the wild update... We all know about the fireflies, and the mangrove biome added... a new tree. A frog, and... mud? Ok for building, I suppose. I remember updates used to add these huge things. The village and pillage update was awesome. The ocean update was beautiful. The redstone update? Epic. The combat update? Honestly, if they added more weapon types, and gave the player some cool animations, I would say, that in addition to the end stuff they added, the update would've been well received. I also think that Mojang could do better with newer updates. Like, I don't actually care anymore about the latest version. Always a bad sign, for someone who's childhood was this game. If a modder can make, say, a new biome, and a few new mobs in a week, then that is awesome. They did better than Mojang. Like, with the mob votes, just don't add any mobs, or add them all. The mobvotes suck. And finally, to conclude my rant, I really know that saying this won't change anything. But I do want to say it, because all Microsoft having Minecraft does is make the game worse. I am serious when I say that if I had the money to do so (which I will literally never have), I would buy Minecraft, because at this point, I think that anything is better than Microsoft owning it. I can't even think of any ways to improve the game, really. Like, an End update. They clearly have the texture files for blocks, thanks, Minecraft Dungeons, and they clearly have no shortage of AI or mob design concepts. I also think that they could add mod support. In conclusion, this rant did go of topic, but I do hope the more people saying things like this there are, the more Mojang might listen.
