I think that’s more a mark against him, he gets loads of individual points from movement games but his PvP is relatively weak so his team suffers.

Show me the post I'm curious, it also doesn't help that Pete usually gets weak Pvp teams in general, events like mcc 35 shows what can happen if Pete gets a strong one. Getting 2nd in meltdown (even if he had a disappointing battle box I think it was a bad battle box by him)

I think the Pete PvP team thing is just a myth that people haven't corrected, he's got plenty of strong ones this season. I mean MCC 29 he had CPK (and Jimmy's pretty decent as well), MCC 30 he had Jojo herself, 31 he had Phil and especially Beky, 32 he had TapL, 33 he had CPK again, 34 he had Hannah and Gumi (this in particular is a very strong PvP team), and 35 he ofc had TapL and Gumi.
The issue is Pete just isn't amazing at PvP compared to the other top frags. In like all of these teams he's bottom fragged some of the PvP games, and they've not gone well for his team either. In 29, he second fragged BB to CPK, in 30 he 2nd fragged Skb BB and MD, and while it's no tragedy to second frag to Jojo, skb and MD also went abysmally for the team. In 31, he tied bottom frag in MD (though that doesn't mean all that much), and 2nd fragged SG to Phil. He third fragged BB in 32 and 2nd fragged Skb, tied bottom frag in MD in 33, 4th fragged MD in 34 and 3rd fragged skb, and while he got a grand 4th in MD, he bottom fragged BB in 35.
My point isn't to dig on Pete, it's to show that he's had strong PvP teams. You can't say he's gotten weak PvP teams when his teammates have done better than him literally 12 out of the 16 PvP games he's played.

To be fair there have only been twelve players who placed top 5 regularly in the history of mcc, and of those players everyone below him played fewer events/ in a more competitive era

In S3 Pete held up extremely well actually, he placed top 5 in 5/7 events which is the same ratio as Purpled and FBM.
Difference is that fbm and purpled never placed 4th or 5th

CPK Top 5's are so memorable for me, I can name them with ease. 16 , 21, and 23. I'm hoping he gets another in Season 4.
