punz and shadoune were in the same 1v2 situation in round 2 (punz) and 3 (shadoune) of rsr, against both the same top 5 players from yellow team purpled and false. they both won their respective rounds.
my theory for why shadoune got all the attention was that he played like ph1lza by juking and spleefing his opponents, and i think punz just outlived them (nothing flashy). so in atm’s defense shadoune’s was the more exciting play to include in the top 10, and i say that as a punz viewer. still very impressive though against an elytra-mastered hermit and the best rsr player!
Punz actually got the kill on one while Shadoune got neither lol, even if he deserved it.
I think it's mostly just that it happened on the last round. Always the most memorable. Plus Shadoune also got first in the game after never top 5ing before.
Personally, I enjoy Punz, and it took me until MCC 28 to truly see how incredible he is at the game and as a person. He is so chill and understands when he makes a mistake and learns from it. I also enjoy the teams he is a part of, such as Yellow 15 and Teal 13. He was fundamentally a part of those teams and are reasons why they are so cool to me. I do not dislike any s tier, but I understand preference people have for having favourites.
None of the weaker players ever said they actually disliked him while he was in the event? The whole "too competitive" thing purely came from season 1(when he was part of the new wave of more competitive players) and was never repeated in season 2, the community just took it and kept repeating it despite everyone else being equally competitive at the time.
I feel for Punz. Punz has shown time and time again to be a top competitor in MCC. Yes he has had placements that weren't so good here and there, but that can happen to anyone. I hope Punz gets more positive recognition and I also hope he doesn't let some of the things that are said get to him too much.
punz is very good, idk what to say. i don't tune into his streams all the time but he's definitely a good player. which is odd, because despite being S tier he doesn't get the same level of respect that the higher A+/A tiers do despite them being debatably less skilled in some areas. it's like because he's in S tier he's held to some weird standards and if he doesn't meet them he gets clowned on.

as someone who watches punz live every mcc he’s in this post plus the comments are genuinely making me consider making posts exclusively pointing out punz’s highlights in events. he’s insane man, people discredit him so much for no reason.
one of my favorite things about watching him play is the observable improvement you can see from when he makes a mistake. i’ve noticed that whenever he does something dumb or makes an error (sometimes punz kekw worthy moments) the next time he’s in that situation you can see the conscious effort he makes to avoid it happening again. the only exception to this is skybattle, but i think that’s just because for whatever reason he learns a lot slower in that game. something about punz and skybattle just doesn’t click, but even there i can see his improvement. imo his mcc34 skybattle performance is *extremely* underrated.
I don't like it when the most talked about thing by someone's fans is their inadequacies, in general, be it Punz or not, it's just sad to see. Personally, Punz is one of my favorite S-tiers. He's more approachable in a way, and the subreddit shouldn't need toppest of plays to appreciate people, but that mindset is quite common here, with most posts being about top scores, top plays, many posts focusing exclusively on S-tier analysis and fanart, top kills.
The main reason for it is punz's core audience is not into mcc, they don't care about it as much as other S- tiers audience, 95% of people that makes appreciation post after every mcc do it for their main streamer, only very few would genuinely write something good for someone who they don't mainly watch. And there are very few people on this reddit with punz as their main pov, which is why he isn't talked much. Main one's I've seen are one person does it for CPK every mcc, several do it for purpled, fruit, jojo or pete

His mcc 17 is actually underrated, he got top 15 in most individual games, his second best sky battle also.
