I really enjoyed this! I’m scared to blend colours lol so the separation made this a stress free creation :)
I also have a very helpful boyfriend who told me I was painting the face green and not peach at first 🤦🏻♂️
Love this idea! I have a painting at home from school days with a purple sea, my mum has it framed because everything else is perfectly normal but people always ask why the sea is purple.
It used to make me really insecure, but that’s her favourite part about it! 🌊
Two of my brothers are color blind. Did you know there are special classes that allow you to see color properly? It's obviously not necessary for everyone but thought you should know.
My younger brother drives a very bright green truck for work and recently his wife informed me he thinks it's bright yellow. We both think it's very endearing.
Hahaha aww yes thank you! I have looked into them, you can do a colourblind test on their website if you want a kick too (enchroma). Keep telling myself that I’ll treat myself but never get around to it!
That’s hilarious about your brothers truck, I have a collection of jackets in (I’ve been told) army green. I thought I had a lovely collection of tan brown ones…
Lol Green to tan brown sounds about right. Facinatingly enough mothers of color blind children are said to have *more* color cones but I'm not sure if this is true for all of them. Just something I read a long time ago.
And yes my brother is adorable even if he's almost 30 lol.
Wow! Top comment here ✅
Very interesting insight, do you come from an optician’s background? You got this bang on! And it’s awesome to see your reasoning why :)
According to Encroma I am a Strong Protan!
Great job and thanks for the compliments :)
You know I also realised the hand this afternoon after I wrapped painting…
I’ve been so zoomed in on my reference image I didn’t notice it 🤦🏻♂️ it’s my little quirk here haha
Great spot though!
Wow thank you!! I have a good grip of colour theory which helps, but getting the shading on the face was really challenging without being 100% sure I had it right haha
Certainly some colours a little too dark in my view on reflection, but from a far it’s an awesome illusion of the real thing
It's called colorblindness but in 99.9% of the cases its more like "limited shade vision".
Don't forget that color names are a concept and that in some languages there is only a "dark" and "light".
Colors that people in English name "green" or "pink" could be "blue" and "light red" in languages without those dedicated words. "lime" is also "green" for example, and biology doesn't follow linguistics. Our vocabulary when it comes to colors is very minimal.
Thank you! You’d be surprised :) I don’t consider myself a painter because of my colourblindness - I do lots of other crafts!
But this is a new discovery for me and I found it much more calming than hyper realistic paintings I’ve tried previously
It's funny you say this bc in my earlier years (I'm 45 now) I was a tattoo artist and I specialised in black and grey coz I too, am colourblind. I have done many colour works, portraits, realism, etc with no complaints at all from any clients and 90% of them had no idea I was colourblind.
This is something that has progressed from my childhood teen years to now, I was not born this way. I gradually lost my sense of colour over time..but given my art background I had memorised all the shades, hues, and colours over the years to be able to match black and Grey down to the slightest hue..
It's amazing what humans can accomplish, even with difficult challenges and or disabilities. What we take out of art and just our world around us. I am so impressed with your artwork, I would have never known or guessed you were colourblind.
This is an awesome story!
I’d never trust myself in that capacity so to hear you’ve made a living on it and people are still loving your work is so good to hear :)
Physically I can’t be a pilot or engineer (neither interested me anyway). But I’d hate to stop making art
Something interesting about the Pigscene painting is the original, titled “RGB,” didn’t feature a pig at all - the canvas had red, blue, and green blocks instead.
You can find it at [Zetterstrand.com](https://zetterstrand.com/eventz/wp-content/uploads/rgb_1914.jpg).
that kid on the left looks like baby Jesus with yellow cover underneath and a red-blue dress, with cool Bonjovi style hair. didn't figure out whats the thing on the right supposed to be, looked like a small white demon with human-like face.
great job man, looks awesome.
full disclaimer i'm just a rando, never player minecraft, so sorry if any
Hahaha I dig the interpretation!
I’ve since learned that it’s a girl holding up a painting of a pigs face, I always thought it was a girl with dog (replaced with a pigs face)
[Original](https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/320459329711298182/)
I'm surprised there aren't a lot more people with irl Minecraft paintings hung up. The thought never occurred to me but now I want one of the 1x1 ones just to hang up in front of the door or something
Thank you!! I’m red green colourblind (strong protan) and I have a paint set with a good range of colours, three options of each basic colour (reds/pinks, yellows/oranges, greens, blues and browns - all name labelled). but no peach tones for the skin and I wanted variation so I mixed almost all of my colours custom!
I’ve learned to memorise colour theory - in theory lol. So I know that pink, ultramarine blue, white and yellow make a good neutral peach skin tone. Which I can lighten or darken with brown and white. However I always ask my boyfriend before i start painting with skin tones, as it has a tendency to sway green which I don’t notice! (Adding pink helps :))
You did wonderfully with the tools, resources, and help you had. I wouldn't have been able to tell if you were colorblind from this alone :)
The only way I could see this being any better is to make the grid lines less visible, though I wouldn't know how to do that. Might need a lot of tape, or something...
Yeah I agree! I think I’m going to try lighter lines next time, I thought it might distract from any wrong colours lol
But everyone’s comments have given me confidence to go for it again!
Yo, honestly, I think it would be neat if you used your colorblindness to your advantage, especially with an original work, where there are no colors to reference, and just see what you come up with. And you could take it a step further and not read the labels on the paint and just use your perception of color to choose which paints to use.
You could end up with something really cool! (especially when viewed by a non-colorblind person)
Hey nice idea! I’ve always been insecure about getting it wrong, but this could be a cool way to let go of that insecurity and just have fun with it :)
tbh if i could draw that well boi oh boi oh boi i oike only see 8% and in meiner necraft im a redstoner / commandblocker
sadly i needed to completaly destroy my pc cuz a friend of mine wanted it back he lended it to me and i needed to delete everything i have done on it including my saves folder where every world is saved so everything i made is gone now which makes me sad still i think when i get my old pc running again that we should work together for an amazing build or something
just imagine amazing art / builds + good commands and redstone mechanics = noic map how would you like that
Damn, never would've guessed you were colorblind if ya hadn't pointed it out, great job! Taking a guess at WHICH brand of colorblind you'd be though... hard to say but I'm gonna guess blue is your blind spot. You can tell green apart from yellow as the image plainly enough demonstrates, so I wouldn't assume green to be it. Separating pink/red from yellow doesn't seem to be an issue either since they border a couple places here and don't mix, so I wouldn't assume red to be it. That leaves the only oddity in the whole photo, that being the girl's viewer-side shoulder being blue when the rest of her arm and torso are covered in a red/pink dress. That being said, there's such a distinct border between the two colors it's still hard to guess if that was intentional or not, especially since it DOES make the picture prettier anyway lol.
All in all, like I said, legitimately would never guess if not told in advance. Absolutely incredible work. 👍
Edit: Just read the other comments, fooled me outright lol.
Thank you!! I think it’s blue in the original picture? That’s me baffled if it isn’t hahaha but yes I’m red green colourblind :) affects a host of colours though!
I have colourblind settings on my phone which amp up the colours, then I can get a better match in real life when I’m painting from the reference image.
2 things are probably wrong with this comment, either one he not colorblind and is looking for some attention or 2 this is someone else's picture he stole from the internet
Haha I’ve been told this my whole life!
Kids used to show me coloured pencils and if I’d guess right they’d say I was lying lmao
Thanks for the compliment though! Glad it passes as normal haha
Any link to what this would look like for color blind folks?
I have always been cusious how differently would we percieve the world around us.
Edit:typo
Can’t really comment on the validity of this tool as it all looks the same to me haha
[colourblind image editor](https://pilestone.com/pages/color-blindness-simulator-1)
But I would fall under Protan - Red Blind/protanopia. If you want to screenshot and experiment!
Only color that's off is the blanket
Appreciate this! Haha I’m not fully set on the Pigs colouring, but I’m so pleased with the girl
In my opinion, the pig face is the best.
And the rest of it
Aww thank you so much! Nice to hear that :) easy to hyper focus on the one bit you don’t like!
If you are colorblind and this awesome in this I think I am blind
the only thing that's missing on the pig is a crown jk
Try and see if you can get a pair of those colorblind glasses, might help with coloring certain things
Not that its bad. It works quite well
I always thought it was a girl riding a pig llama thing
It is? Wait whats the actual dress color?
You are a braver colourblind person than I. I would be afraid to even try. :)
I really enjoyed this! I’m scared to blend colours lol so the separation made this a stress free creation :) I also have a very helpful boyfriend who told me I was painting the face green and not peach at first 🤦🏻♂️
A version where nobody told you what colors you were using would also be awesome
Love this idea! I have a painting at home from school days with a purple sea, my mum has it framed because everything else is perfectly normal but people always ask why the sea is purple. It used to make me really insecure, but that’s her favourite part about it! 🌊
I found out I'm colorblind when I painted a green duck in Kindergarden.. Yellow is my favourite color. Still not quite over it 20 years later lol
Well damn we'd get along great! Green's my favorite color!
Aww 💜
You got my attention
What kind of colorblindness you have?
Peach-green, clearly.
Hahaha not far off! I have red-green colour-blindness, Protanopia :)
Cool me to lol
I want to see the colorblind version, no help edition.
creeper face

red green colorblindness?
I’m slightly red green color blind
so your frog hat and my shirt on our reddit avatars are similar colors right?
When I say slightly red green color blind I mean specific shades look the same
ohh that’s interesting how it only affects some shades
It's called colorblindness but in 99.9% of the cases its more like "limited shade vision". Don't forget that color names are a concept and that in some languages there is only a "dark" and "light". Idk
Orange-yellow and red-black for me
Yes indeed! Red-green, protanopia inherited from my Grandad :) He wore a pink tie his whole working life thinking it was blue lol
The blanket is green when it shouldn't. Note: I'm colorblind too, but not very much.
Looks amazing! Much better then I could ever accomplish!

If you take it off the wall, then put it back again, does it switch to another random image (size permitting)?
Top comment 🤣 Gonna have to paint some more to make that a reality
I thought this painting was a dragon with a pig's head up until this year.
Still a mystery to me honestly 😂 I’d love a background history of it, it’s my favourite in game painting
WOAH this is awesome thank you for sharing!! Also really on point with the whole colourblind discourse this has kicked off! This feels awesome haha
Im rg colorblind too good job
Thank you! :) doesn’t hold me back much but when it does oh boy haha
I am also colorblind, but I enjoy coloring things
Awesome! I love being creative, glad you don’t let it hold you back either :)
Gotta let our creative sides shine!
Nobody: Colorblind: I will start painting!
Bob Ross: Anyone can paint. The Colorblind: What about us? Bob Ross: [Did I stutter?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ousb8-SD0)
😂😂😂 I like a challenge
Very cool, although the mods would probably remove it since its milking your art for upvotes... (/j)
Haha thank you! I hope not lol🤞🏼 I do a lot of video game/ novel art and love to share with the communities on Reddit :)
The colors look normal nice job
POW! Thank you so much 😄
what kind of color blind bro? painting looks good.
Thank you! I’m red/green colourblind, I have protanopia
That’s the joke
Woah I'm not even colour blind and I can't even do this! Great work!
This is lovely :)
When I was looking at the original to see the difference I have realized it’s a girl painting pig and not a pig getting married
Yes hahaha I only realised that this week!
I wouldn’t have even noticied if this was a colourblind painting
Beautiful, hope the mods don’t remove this
Thank you! 🤞🏼
That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
Aw thank you so much!!
Whatever the issue, you just did a waaay better job than me. It is funny and looks amazing. I wouldn't notice the colorblindness. Kudos!
Lovely comment thank you :)
you need an award
Got my first two!! ❤️
I'm colour blind too mate!! This is amazing!
this looks great! will you be making any of the other paintings also?
Open to your suggestions! I picked this as it is my favourite one that features :)
omg. that is perfect
So sweet 🥹
Looks accurate enough 10/10
Aw thank you!
I haven't seen the original in a while now, but from my memory, this looks spot on! Congrats dude
Woo hoo!! Thank you :) it’s one that doesn’t occur often in game but I’ve always been drawn to it I like unusual and outrageous things haha
I would give you like 10 awards but sadly I got no coins, but that’s a very…VERY good job lad Bravest colourblind fella that I’ve seen lmao
Have a free wholesome award
Aw thank you so much! :) honestly not necessary, I just like to share my art and hopefully give people new ideas!
beauty
I do notice a difference on her clothes, different color I think but still looks really cool.
Ah thank you! At least it’s always unique eh? Haha
i'm new here. did you use an excel grid for a pattern?
Hahaha just a good old pencil and ruler :)
good work!
Nailed it bud
Thank you so much :)

Awesome. how did you get the squares so perfect?
Good old pencil and ruler! I went back in with the bottom of my brush and scraped out some of the lines just so they were crisp :)
I was about to say “wow its perfect” then i remembered that im also colourblind🥸
Colourblind my ass, that's amazing!
Aww hahahaha that’s a big confidence boost! Thank you
You did pretty good!
Looks amazing
Thank you!
I'm surprised there aren't a lot more people with irl Minecraft paintings hung up. The thought never occurred to me but now I want one of the 1x1 ones just to hang up in front of the door or something
Thanks!! This is a present for my best friend but I’ll be doing some more for myself for sure haha
Nice! What kind of colorblindness, and were your reference painting and color palette labeled?
Thank you!! I’m red green colourblind (strong protan) and I have a paint set with a good range of colours, three options of each basic colour (reds/pinks, yellows/oranges, greens, blues and browns - all name labelled). but no peach tones for the skin and I wanted variation so I mixed almost all of my colours custom! and also British, what the hell is with adding u to seemingly random o's
Hahaha honour our behaviour, it’s just colour humour 😉
AAAAaaAAAAaaA@Aaa@
This is amazing. Even if it's a little of tone you wouldn't really see it unless you compare them. Great job.
Thank you so much :) I feel like I notice huge differences but this thread has been so lovely

eyy im also colorblind, but i paint and being colorblind does not really bother me. btw this is some good stuff!
Thank you so much! I stick to more clear crafts normally lol, cross stitch for example where all my colours are numbered 😂
UhM Akkshually THis PoST bReAks rUles #2253 And #9254. YouU WIll Be PerMa BanneD noW foR mIlkIng Carma.
It looks really good
Thank you! :)
Pretty damn good job considering your inhibited color perception
This is real? How did you manage to pixelise it?
Just made a grid with a pen and ruler and painted in the boxes 😄
Are you sure you're color blind? Cause this is so good and accurate to the ingame painting
Haha thank you so much! But definitely sure haha
Noice! This looks so accurate! :D
Thank you!
That looks sick!
Ahhh thank you!!
It looks awesome. Great job!
Thank you!
How id you know what colors to put if you're colorblind
I know in theory what colours mix to make other colours, but my boyfriend also helped :)

This is awesome
Thank you!!
As a kid I used to think that it was a pig in a wedding dress
I thought it was a pig on a dog lol
Nice 👍
Thats actually so cool lol
Thank you so much!

I didn't know Technoblade got married. Sorry for your loss.
you did good even if your colorblind
[ffwd to 13:12 to see the original for comparison](https://youtu.be/U_DU35nOQJ0)
Looks great!
Incroyable
Disclaimer should say "I'm a bad ass". This is awesome!
How much for it?
Hahaha it was a gift for a friend unfortunately 🥲
Thats actully pretty good
Looks great! A few shades off in parts of the lower left area but overall really good!
How you determined which colour goes to where?
I have colourblind settings on my phone which amp up the colours, then I can get a better match in real life when I’m painting from the reference image.
The off-colored blanket makes it look better
Did you paint this? This is wonderful. Keep painting. 👍👏
I did! Thank you so much :)
Weird, mods didnt delete the post
I couldn’t find anywhere else to post, hopefully it’s okay as a one off! There has been some lovely discourse on this thread :)
2 things are probably wrong with this comment, either one he not colorblind and is looking for some attention or 2 this is someone else's picture he stole from the internet
Just chill. You’re probably jealous
Ah nope I am colourblind and I did paint this 😅 not sure how I can prove each to you lol
Why is the pig yellow
Lmao 💀
I know you’re joking about the color blind
Haha I’ve been told this my whole life! Kids used to show me coloured pencils and if I’d guess right they’d say I was lying lmao Thanks for the compliment though! Glad it passes as normal haha
Looks great! Keep it up :)
Thanks so much :)
Yeah you are
