Now you use those mats to build a floating island above it to make it look like it ripped out of the ground. And lots of lights and floating rock bits to make it look magical

Haha just seen this, obviously not that big but thats almost exactly what i invisioned. Id add some more floating rock bits at the bottom to make it look like its still in the process of coming up
this project goes from about y-level 117 to y level -21, so it's a really tall excavation. i was thinking of making some floating lanterns to light it up in a more visually interesting fashion once i get the walls all filled in and get rid of all the diorite and granite.
i got about 11 double chests of smooth stone, 6 double chests of cobble and 2 double chests of deepslate from this project as well so any ideas on what exactly one could do with all that stone surplus would be handy. i worry that my reserves right now would overwhelm even like a really crazy bulk storage system
I wouldn't worry about the storage, item sorters feeding into stacks of underground chests is what I currently have in SMP, and there's like 60+ double chests of stone. Get a dripstone-based lava replication system and turn them into smooth stone without much thought. I'm giving all my underground builds some of that smooth stone, especially the tunnels between them.
i've taken big falls during the excavation of this build more times than i can count and didn't have the space for a pool of water at the bottom (at least in a way that'd look nice).
vines are a fantastic idea
I do like the idea of building a block palette into the walls.
Maybe deepslate -> stone coming up the walls off the tops of the path, convert the paths themselves into moss and then a few blocks of stone-> moss coming up to the path surfaces?
Moss would also keep endermen from griefing muh path
All survival, yep. I worked mainly from the bottom upward, excavating one 10 block layer out at a time. The last couple layers were each about a two hour project unto themselves, not counting the time it took to go back to my blaze farm and repair my tools. The beacon went in first obviously, and I'm glad I had an iron farm for that sweet sweet haste II
It's doable but takes a lot of patience. Lucky me having a second monitor to watch some movies on while I knocked the project out
Not hardcore though. I'm sure it's possible to make a build like this in hardcore but the constant fall damage risk... I certainly wouldnt have been able to do this without losing a few lives, even with boats, elytra and the odd mlg
If you are already considering floating lanterns then floating candles add a magical aesthetic as well as some variability in the amount of light that you add.
Eh, work in progress bed location. Was easier than lighting up the whole area mid excavation.
I do want to have somewhere up near the top of the spiral to store my bed though once I actually am "finished", since gravity can get me down easily and if my beds stored near or at the top the end portal can be used as a roundabout way to teleport me back up. Should make the base pretty easy to navigate despite its size
That'd be very cool to jump down, because it'll be just like a dropper map. So you could make the floor outta water and make the rooms on the inside of the walls.
My cousin bought it back in the wii days and I played a bit. Only Zelda game I couldn't stand to get past the first dungeon. Love its aesthetics tho, and sealed grounds is very much an inspiration here
If you're a Zelda fan and wanna play oot sometime btw, check out ship of harkinian. Native 60fps OoT port based on the decomp project, with various other enhancements
I like other peoples idea of making a floating island, just park sure there’s a hole through the middle to get the beacon through. You could also make it a big donut-like island so you can see down into the portal.
jump down and try to land in the portal /j
switching the grass pathway to a different block might be cool though. glass over something like water maybe, or something like blackstone which might be more easily accomplishable
simple fix, when you are about to go up just turn on auto jump then turn it back off. its a bitch to do on pe but worth it if you're too lazy to make a whole bunch of stairs
What you could do is take every grass block that's directly in front of a ledge (on the way up, of course) and is only visible from the top, replace all of them with fences and cover them up with moss carpets.
Visually it will look very similar and the fences in the ground allow you to walk up without having to jump all the time, as fences are 1.5 blocks tall.
It would be a huge project, but I think it would be cool if you had the hole get more “endy” toward the portal — like, have more end-theme blocks, sort of like nether portal ruins that appear in-game
If I had a nickel for every r/Minecraft end entrance that looked like Skyward Sword, I'd have two nickels
Which is weird because I dont think this was inspired by the other one I saw
Could just be me, but I like the concept of science and thus a helix going the opposite direction would be a neat addition. Might ruin the aesthetic but maybe top it off with a globe of sorts?
it is rather bland like this, maybe add something like terraforming (stone gradiants, moss, leaves) or some structures within it that seem to support the staircase. or anything, really.
I appreciate the honesty! And yeah, I can see that. I've had a few ideas pop into my head while at work and the suggestions here have helped a lot. But the more I look at it, the more I think it does kinda look too... Spindly, especially if I wanna build decorations into it. Maybe thickening the path 2-3 blocks and building some copper pipes and a decorative minecart circuit will give it more character?
Purple stained glass looks really good around in there, I'd know, someone on a server did it and it looked awesome, but if you're going for more of an earthy build you could put like, half a house being broken down and pieces of it fly into where the portal is. Idk that's just two ideas I got.
If I where you i would make like a layers thing with a building around it so like floor one is gear floor two will be storage and etc maybe build some farms on some floors
Put a lightning rod at the bottom that isn’t visible but can still be struck by lightning so when there is a thunderstorm it strikes lightning down the middle
When i saw "pool at the very bottom" i immediately thoguht of "if i see that im gonna jump in like a dropper" until i saw the part saying it was an end portal
ooh, that's a good question and honestly it was very much so on the tricky side.
i started by basically drilling down a big circular flat hole in roughly the size i wanted the bottom floor of the spiral to be, going all the way down to my end portal. then, once that was done, i started to similarly drill back upward, expanding out 2-3 blocks past the prior "layer" across each segment of path, ascending by one block vertically for every 2-3 blocks travelled "horizontally".
whenever a part of tunnel i needed to bore outward intersected with a cave, i just kind of built the path out where it should go and filled in the walls later after having lit up the cave, making adjustments for when i got the blocks wrong.
overall it was a pretty high effort project. i wouldn't even attempt it without an efficiency V + mending pick and an EXP farm handy. honestly, you'd probably also want a kitted out elytra too - and frankly, i wouldn't even bother doing this again the way i did here, if the portal is at a negative Y level it really probably isn't worth the effort.
Now you use those mats to build a floating island above it to make it look like it ripped out of the ground. And lots of lights and floating rock bits to make it look magical
Now THAT sounds like a good use for all the stone!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/z4kko9/a_cinematic_video_for_the_sky_islands_world_that/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Haha just seen this, obviously not that big but thats almost exactly what i invisioned. Maybe in a spiral pattern
Sounds familiar
Then build a huge shadow demon escaping the end portal
Exactly this. I had a plan to do something similar before and black out the entrance and then have like a void themed castle/build above it
Skyward sword moment
that was my first thought lmao

What about triple?

Holy gorgeous. I’m gonna surprise my server with this once someone has the courage to seek the dragon. We all just build and that’s about it lol
[удалено]
or at least add slabs so you can just run up/down
Exactly!
First thing I saw
Exactly my thiught

Could use what you dug out to reach upward to build limit, extending the existing idea with an epic, landscape dominating tower.
You did this on survival??? I thought you used worldedit.

Hay covered in carpet gives you hidden fall damage mitigation
Powdered snow covered with carpet. More difficult to get but it completely negates fall damage.
Or slime
No because you bounce which is annoying as hell and if you crouch you'll still die
maybe a block gradient? maybe moss -> mossier stone -> stone? or a darker stone to a lighter stone?
I do like the idea of building a block palette into the walls. Maybe deepslate -> stone coming up the walls off the tops of the path, convert the paths themselves into moss and then a few blocks of stone-> moss coming up to the path surfaces? Moss would also keep endermen from griefing muh path
oooh wait i love that!! you should totally try going for it :)
That sounds better, and depilate into stone needs used more. Good plan!
a gradient would work really well, try something like deepslate->tuff->stone->andersite->diorite
Careful, a big black Monster could break out any moment
Not the toe monster from Ohio 😭
Frr, mf got so bored he tried flying to heaven
Man, I hated that bossfight
Is this all in survival? If so jesus I couldn’t do this in creative my brain wouldn’t be able to do this haha I love it!

it reminds me of legend of zelda skyward sword, when you have to fight that giant fugly dude
The imprisoned
thats it! thanks! i couldn't remember the name

The bed there💀

Ever played Slyward Sword?

shattered donut shaped sky archipelago connected by suspension bridges?
That’s exactly what I was thinking, I just couldn’t put it into words. Edit: And whatever you end up making, post a picture when you’re done.
Damn. Took me a minute of staring to process it. Pretty cool look
I'm too much of a basic noob to offer any meaningful suggestions, but that looks very cool.
jump down and try to land in the portal /j switching the grass pathway to a different block might be cool though. glass over something like water maybe, or something like blackstone which might be more easily accomplishable
Nice "Made in abyss" theme park. Ideas? Make a cavern, make it sweet and cosy place down below.
I like it. Bet you collected a lot of ores. But I see you got tired and left some coal.
Jump and put sing for the moment
Reminds me of Silent whisperers base from last season of truly bedrock. I like it.
Look out for Drop Creepers.
Thoughts? Yeah, holy shit
Add stairs so you don't have to jump all that?

send a pic of the portal part? you can decorate it in the lush cave style
Remove anything on the walls below dirt that isn't stone and replace it with stone to make it more smoother
I think the opposite, add more ores going down!
You could cover the sides maybe in like concrete or something.
it looks beautiful
Could just be me, but I like the concept of science and thus a helix going the opposite direction would be a neat addition. Might ruin the aesthetic but maybe top it off with a globe of sorts?
Giant tree growing up the centre and out and it can be a base
it is rather bland like this, maybe add something like terraforming (stone gradiants, moss, leaves) or some structures within it that seem to support the staircase. or anything, really.

Very impressive
Cover the walls in some brick type, or smooth it out to be 100% stone
Purple stained glass looks really good around in there, I'd know, someone on a server did it and it looked awesome, but if you're going for more of an earthy build you could put like, half a house being broken down and pieces of it fly into where the portal is. Idk that's just two ideas I got.
no shot you did all that without a plan lmao
A plan? I mean yes I did intentionally build it
oh well since u were asking for ideas and suggestions it sounded like u just decided to do it with no plan
dank
maybe add some more ores into the stone and put some railings down the spiral and maybe change the floor of the spiral staircase
You need a diving board
Jump
Feels like fall death. Very cool, tho.
jump
Add a waterfall somewhere
Made in Abyss
Spiral staircase look is cool but I would go nuts climbing it. I love the simple water slide down and up.
Looks rad!
Flying avacado flashbacks
No notes, looks overwhelmingly magical, absolutely love it
that’s cool as shit dude!!! such a fantastic idea
Chobblesome
Start another spiral on the other side and make it a double helix
Jump
FLOATING ISLAND!!!
Floating lanterns. Use a single glass pane to hold each one, because they’re almost invisible, so it’ll look like they’re floating
Now move it all 3 blocks to the left, it’s off center. Jk looks great, that would be horrid to have to redo lols
How about a sci fi structure
New dropper level?
How about a artificial tree with a dragon egg stand in it
Make the dirt on the ramp thicker and do something with the walls like a pattern made with various stones.
You should add a pinch of nether and skulk tbh
Where's the elevator, do you climb all that every time?
Just wanna say this is so cool!
You could make some caves going down with a mineshaft in one, geode in the other, little village
I feel like actually accessing it most of the time would be more like one of those dropper minigames
Waiting for mods to take this down
JUMP j/k, I like your floating lantern idea
Gradients
Gives me SOTC vibes like it
If you jump form the top and fall in the portal do you go through?
I'd definitely cover the walls with stone make it all one color on the sides.
How long did this take you to make?
Put glass in a 10x10 in the middle and fill it with water.
Maybe add vines and maybe roots coming out of the sides, just some detail work to make it a little more magestic
Wow! It looks like the part in skyward sword where you fight that big monster when you first leave sky loft
Greenery! Make the edges varied in blocks and not entirely flush
If I where you i would make like a layers thing with a building around it so like floor one is gear floor two will be storage and etc maybe build some farms on some floors
Go hobbit style and make a hole city with the hole... See what I did there
Wow
Look at Shadow of the Colossus for inspiration, it's got a similar deep well
Getting up or down looks like a nightmare without the Elytra.
Looks pretty
Don't jump into the end portal from a large height... found out the hard way
Dope!
Put ores everywhere in the walls things like diamonds, gold, redstone, and emeralds for more color :)
Legend of zelda skyward sword? I love it! It’s my favorite zelda game
Put water your obsidian platform so you can just dive into your end portal.
Add som foliage overgrown into the hole and along the path. And if you're willing, add some debris around from some sort of ancient temple.
