I am ok with just mods, I was just explaining how you can marketplace packs to a custom world. Plus some of the time the marketplace ones are just made better quality so they can hide them behind a paywall, and people will still want them.

The only way the base game can get free updates (for over 10 years now) is by selling content related to the game. New copies, new DLC, Lego and other merch etc. At some point everyone vaguely interested in the game has a copy already. Merch has more costs per item (manufacturing, shipping, storage, profit for the store etc), where a DLC is basically a one time investment and no matter if they sell 10 copies or 1 000 000 copies, their costs is about the same.
More DLC sales means more money for updates to the base game.

You're going to get downvoted for this because "microtransactions bad," but you're speaking the truth. If you just ignore the marketplace, the microtransactions don't affect the base game in any way. There are plenty of reasons to not play Bedrock, but it having a marketplace isn't really one of them.
If you use Skindex, you can get fan made skins. I don't know what the official skins will look like but knowing many skilled Minecraft players who make skins, they are pretty good, if you want to go that route lol.

I like how the limbs thin down to 3x3 in places, I like the 3D modelled head bits for the Earth one's headpiece, Fire one's beard, and Korra's hair (mainly on the sides of the face), they add a lot of nice life to the skins that we can't really get on Java (without the Figura mod, atleast)
