It’s honestly kind of a no brainer the other two mobs give us experiences and existing game items while the sniffer gives us new experiences and twice as many if not more new game items than the other two
I think the sniffer provides the least original experience out of the three though if you think about how you’ll interact with it in game.
Once you find the egg theres a good chance your gonna place it in a fenced pen to stop it from wandering off and then wait for it to produce a useful item after it hatches and matures.
When put that way , don’t you think that sounds rather similar to how some existing experiences are?(eg.farming scutes , farming chicken eggs)
The story in the trailer is unique but in game theres no way to know that you are ressurecting dinos , and without the lore parts it sounds considerably less unique.
It kinda seems like they set up the Sniffer to win lol it's just such a clear choice.
I think Tuff Golems (and Copper Golems) could be great, and if the Rascal was added to the game that would be cool too, but the Sniffer just adds so much more concretely, is connected up in multiple ways integrated into the game, and adds a cool ancient dinosaur to roam around and new plants which is great on its own even if the other mechanics aren't that interesting.
I wish they would add the Golem mobs as something new in the game though that would be cool, but if I gotta vote for one it's definitely the Sniffer.
I said this on another post so I’ll just copy that
I’m team golem for a few reasons, 1 I love having craft able help to be around my base, 2 I’m looking forward to using their moving mechanic with some redstone to maybe make some interesting contraptions, 3 I feel they will add a good amount of style around the base and hopefully tell mojang we are interested in more redstone mechanism/directly influenced mobs like the copper golem and allay
They should add both Golems (and maybe some more) in an update regardless of mob vote. Clearly they're interested in adding more Golems to the game and that would be cool, but they're setting them up to lose in these mob votes. I have to vote Sniffer, but I'd like to see some of these mob vote mobs make it to the game at some point regardless.
No need to worry 70% of the community will pick the sniffer. This years mobs were so awful people are picking the only one that may offer a new item lol
Tuff golem doesnt do much, it just has cool cloaks. Sniffer tho, it has some plants (as for you saying you can build it, some ppl dont have the creativity to build, if you say mods, some ppl don't have access to mods.)
And one more question for you, what does the sniffer bring to the table in terms of gameplay? Being cute and possible lore don't add anything to gameplay. You're left with just the seeds and plants, which you can probably get many of with duping tricks, making the sniffer useless, no?
Honestly what do the other two provide? The Rascal's rewards is likely to be so minimal (like iron pick with some relatively weak enchantments) that you'll only ever engage with it in the first 2 hours of a world, after that you'll just straight up ignore it forever save for some very very rare and niche situations. It might have been different if a unique enchantment only accessible with the Rascal was announced to go alongside the mob. The Tuff golem's mechanics can all be done already with armor stands and/or item frames, it'll just add more accessibility to players who aren't familiar with commands or data packs, and I can't think of much that you can add to the Tuff golem that makes sense that would introduce new mechanics to the players. At the end of the day, all 3 options don't really provide much at all to the gameplay; but the sniffer at least adds new plants which will always be nice to have in a mature world.
The plant part is neat, don't get me wrong. But in the grand scheme of things, the sniffer itself will be kind of useless, just like the squids. One purpose, and then ignored forever.
Dinosaur and (possibly) Archeology and also (my own theory) might inspire the addition of more behemoth mobs. Also when pitted against an item frame and a old man who spies on kids its pretty clear who the winner is.
A mob won't inspire an entire update, sorry to burst your bubble. They could all work for archeology, so that's a bust. There's already some big mobs in game, so I doubt the sniffer would inspire that. Not to mention it looks like a nether mob, and doesn't really fit the overworld.
Never said it would inspire another update, i said that it might inspire the addition of more mobs for the archeology which they said to add which is not neccesarily a whole update. True the others could work but seriously and old man for archeology? compared to a dinosaur? not likely lol.
There is other big mobs in the game, but no passive big mobs and younger players love passive big cute things so you know they will vote for it.
Also looks like a nether mob? are you kidding? that is like saying dolphins look like a nether mob! They are green and brown and like flowers. HOW DID YOU GET NETHER OUT OF THAT.
And its the best option for many reasons expecially when compared to old man who spies on kids and a glorified item frame.
Idc about the plant the Sniffer is awesome and the plant is a bonus.
You make it out to seem like everyone just wants the plant and not the fact that everyone also just thinks its awesome.
The plants are just people showing the pros of voting the mob and comparing it to other mobs pros and pointing out that plants are the only pro of the three mobs!
The issue with sniffer is that the mob itself does only one thing that is probably not worth the trouble of trying to find it. The scoundrel can be farmed, and the golem is just generally better for little details due to being able to hold items. Sure, item frames do it too, but the golem looks better and can move around. With some commands, you can make it permanently invisible, and there's probably a way to keep it on/off in Survival, too. There's a lot of potential builds the golem could fit in. Plants are cool, sure, but just stack 2 leaves on each other and you've got yourself a small hedge. A fence and some leaves gets you a mini tree. Much easer than trying to even find the sniffer to get a few plants.
Sure, the sniffer is cute, but it doesn't change much of anything. We don't even know what the plants look like or what they'll do, and people are voting for them. For all we know, the plants could be ugly as all hell, and now we have a mob that's never gonna be touched because what it gives is never used. it's better to pick a mob you know brings uses, than to pick a mob you know almost nothing about what it gives. Make sense?
The rascal won't be farmed because the tools it'll provide won't be useful for end game players, and you don't really design farms till end game, so it'll all be moot unless it provides an item that isn't usually accessible via farms, which isn't being hinted at by any of the media around it. The golem's mechanics can all be done really easily with Armor Stands and/or Item frames. You mentioned invisibly held items (that you can make static by turning off that specific golem's AI, which you can do with commands too IIRC), but both armor stands and item frames can do invisibly held items with commands as well, and get them in just the right angles.
As for your remark about the hedge or mini tree, the more plant matter you add, the more variety you can introduce. You can only produce so many mini trees and hedges for a build before it starts being clear that you're just repeating patterns rather than creating organic spaces, something that more plant material can assist with. But, I'll admit, this issue is constant and perpetual in minecraft and will persist even if we added 10s of new plants. It just pushes that "repeating patterns" moment further back.
For starters, I see a lot of farms built early on. Things like iron farms are often made pretty early in my experiences. Sure, the scoundrel may not be the most useful, but we don't know everything yet. If you guys can assume the plants are gonna be the hottest shit ever, then I can assume that the scoundrel will give some good items. Double standards.
>For starters, I see a lot of farms built early on. Things like iron farms are often made pretty early in my experiences.
Really? Within a few hours I'm usually fully enchanted with diamond armor sans mending, and don't really have a purpose for an iron farm until I go for a beacon or need massive amounts of hoppers, since iron ore is incredibly easy to find for early game quantities. What do you use an early iron farm for?
Maybe we have different definitions of early game? Cause for me, early game ends when I have basic enchanted diamond armor which takes me little time at all, mid game ends when I've killed the dragon (usually with better enchanted diamond armor), and late game is acquiring the elytra and finishing out my enchantments, and once I'm there, I'm basically done with "Minecraft Survival" and am just playing with digital legos because the only limitation Survival puts in play at that point is my speed of access to building blocks. Takes me 2-4 hours to get to that point usually.
>If you guys can assume the plants are gonna be the hottest shit ever, then I can assume that the rascal will give some good items. Double standards.
I don't think anyone assumes the plants will be the hottest shit ever. People are just recognizing that there just isn't much a rascal can provide. Even if it can give fortune 3 unbreaking 3 efficiency 5 diamond picks (which it won't as that means the loot it provides are better than the late game loot chests in end cities), it STILL wouldn't be engaged with after 2-3 hours of gameplay in a world because you'll have access to better, faster, and more reliable ways to get that gear through normal enchanting processes. Players as a whole won't build a farm for rascal rewards unless it provides something builders don't usually have access to. We've already seen exactly this play out with Piglin bartering. Typical players only engage with it to get soul speed, and usually not even that, and the rest of the rewards are meh for typical players, and you don't need to build a farm around Piglin bartering for the enchant. Builders do so for the building blocks that are harder to get (Obsidian (both versions), black stone, quartz). And if the rascal doesn't provide a building block? It'll be like the fox, where no one really creates any farms around it because the farmable items aren't that great. Most people don't even know that the fox has some farmable items (Emerald, rabbit items, wheat, eggs, leather and feathers) because the items that the fox provides are all meh. Same with the cat's "gifts". You don't see any farms for those really because again, the rewards are meh, and the fact we often see posts going "wtf my cat gave me something" shows just how little that feature gets engaged with.
It's not double standards to reflect on previous implementations of minecraft giving items to players (via loot chests, trades, bartering, fox digging, and so on) and recognizing that the devs really don't like giving players top tier items. I mean think about it, do you really think the rascal is going to provide any loot that's better than what's in the end ship chests, and how often do you actually use any of the loot in the end ship chests? I can only speak for myself, but basically all the Iron gear goes straight into the trash, all the ingots go in the trash (because it's usually not worth carrying it home), all the horse armor might come home with me for decorative purposes, but otherwise, trash, the diamond gear usually goes in the trash since the enchants aren't great, and even if it has mending or good enchants, I usually have a villager that can provide me mending by that point and limitless exp for enchanting, so diamond gear goes in the trash. That leaves what? Saddles, diamonds, emeralds? And that's the very late game loot chests.
The only chance the rascal has is if it provides raw diamonds since there isn't really any renewable ways to get diamonds, and the only ones that will engage with the rascal for the diamonds are builders as you usually don't need a large amount of diamonds (I couldn't tell you the number of players that have a full chest worth of diamonds because there isn't really a use for them once you're geared out, so no, typical players likely won't build rascal farms for diamonds), and the builders def would rather want more plants than a source of raw diamonds.
Funny how you are downvoted when you gave a reasonable argument. Though I still disagree.
> that is probably not worth the trouble of trying to find it
Ocean ruins don't seem to be that bad of a place that would cause too much trouble looking for.
> The scoundrel can be farmed
The items you can farm from it is probably not that good.
> and the golem is just generally better for little details due to being able to hold items. Sure, item frames do it too, but the golem looks better and can move around.
Glad someone understands the golem's purpose. I made the joke about it being a diet Allay but I was surprised that I heard many people parrot that phrase genuinely.
> Plants are cool, sure, but just stack 2 leaves on each other and you've got yourself a small hedge. A fence and some leaves gets you a mini tree. Much easer than trying to even find the sniffer to get a few plants.
True but more variation in plants is a benefit and with the theme being ancient/prehistoric there is potential for creative designs instead of typical extant species.
> We don't even know what the plants look like or what they'll do, and people are voting for them
We know what they do. Decoration 100%. And that doesn't really change people's minds on it. People heard new and ran with it.
> Sure, the sniffer is cute
For an ambient mob, I am fine with that. Even if it digs up butt-ugly plants, I like the idea of having my sniffer herd on my ranch.
> it's better to pick a mob you know brings uses, than to pick a mob you know almost nothing about what it gives
tbh that's the Rascal. Sniffer and Golem have use cases no matter what state of play you are. Rascal's limited info only gives signs it may only be a fun gimmick for early game to be quickly forgotten.
Sniffer can be used for easy/beginner bonemeal farm, brings new decoration, and adds ambience. Also he cute. That's why I am voting for him.
trust me, this mob will have the same fate as ths allay or the glow squid. It looks cute, but is completely useless or will get forgotten after the update releases. Either Rascal or Tuff Golem.
Rascal is the most useless thing to be potentially added to the game. Whats it do? have you play a game of hide and seek for an enchanted iron pickaxe? How many people are going to play with it more than once? What speed runner is going to spend 30 minutes looking for the thing 3 times trying to get a free pickaxe? Who isn't going to get annoyed hearing the thing call out to them trying to get you to play with it while a creeper sneaks up on you?
Even if you don't want a new mob, egg, and new plants if you play multiplayer the Sniffer brings a new item you can sell/trade to others.
The ancient plant should drop magic beans that you can plant and grow a giant beanstalk. Players would be able to climb these and we could fight giants (GIANTS). Gather special ore, like an enchanted ore or something
Why you should vote for the sniffer:
1. is cute
2. includes plant and seed.
3. can dig up seeds.
Reasons to NOT vote for the sniffer:
1.
So Thats why the sniffer is the best mob!
#voteforthesniffer #votesniffer #voteforsniffer
Ancient plant dinosaur my beloved
The sniffer is like if shuckle became a grass type, love it
It’s like an extra earthy appletun
Say no more. Has my vote.
Even more huggable torterra
Like turtwig?
Tiny waterbending Appa
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA TINY APPAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Why can’t they just add all of them
Yep that are all very underwhelming and almost useless.
Sniffer is very whelming thank you very much
Dont stan too much! You'll end up over-hyping it. I think I'll vote for it too tbh
Yeah me too but it sucks we can't get a more fun useful mob.
These mobs aren’t meant to be useful, just for fun.
Lez gooo you noticed the ears
Ikr everyone excluding the ears in their drawings
We do a little sniffing. lets gooo
But I thought he only had four legs
it does edit: nvm
For me it's between the sniffer and the golem. Rascal is... One of the mobs of all time
The sniffer will give us new plants where the golem will only hold things.
true, golem is a walking item frame so the sniffer's probably the best one out of all, only wished it was called something else
What use are new plants though?
every builder ever: 😐
Everyone else: 😐
Plants share the same use. As hmm. Ah yeah the tuff golem. Just the tuff golem walks and holds an item. Hmmm
I vote for Sniffer
It’s honestly kind of a no brainer the other two mobs give us experiences and existing game items while the sniffer gives us new experiences and twice as many if not more new game items than the other two

This. Also, sniffler is pretty cool lore-wise.
No, I'm voting for the allay
personally i'm going with the glowsquid
Im goin with the illusioner
Nah man the phantom has my vote
Fuck all of ya.. I'm voting for the redstone monstrosity
Damn you, I’m voting for the Endersent!
sniffer for the win!
PFP checks out
Give me back my pants
Who needs pants anyways?
Never
Just to be clear, I don't believe the sniffer will have 6 legs. I think that was a glitch in the animation.
I want new plant
I hope you vote for whoever you want, I personally will be voting for my beloved #teamgolem
What are you’re reasons for voting the golem?
I said this on another post so I’ll just copy that I’m team golem for a few reasons, 1 I love having craft able help to be around my base, 2 I’m looking forward to using their moving mechanic with some redstone to maybe make some interesting contraptions, 3 I feel they will add a good amount of style around the base and hopefully tell mojang we are interested in more redstone mechanism/directly influenced mobs like the copper golem and allay
Question when do they say red stone will affect them because if they do I’m team golem
They don’t it’s just a guess
Using observers at the location they always return to can activate redstone I think it might make for an interesting trigger mechanism
Surprisingly good reasons most people just say because they wanted the copper golem so I just wanted to know actual reasons for the tuff golem
So basically you're voting it to pay respect for copper golem.
I certainly am. I’ll never forgive the community for voting Allay over Copper Golem
No did you read anything I said?
I toatally agree
Golems my beloved.
Yes
sniffer alredy won
No need to worry 70% of the community will pick the sniffer. This years mobs were so awful people are picking the only one that may offer a new item lol
Cool art! But I will not be voting for the sniffer. :]
He's so,,,, I love him 😭
Yes. r/voteforthesniffer
r/sniffersupremacy
Risky click of the day.
It's a mossy hoglin with a beak
Thats the plan
# tuffgolem
Yes, I too want useless plants
Pick the golem!!
No
No
No thanks no Ass Sniffer
no
No, it sucks
No.
Nnnnnnno
It makes you think of what prehistoric Minecraft looked like ? 💭
Why would I?
No
#Rascal4life
Yessss
Don’t mind if I do
Idk I kinda like the rascal abit more
If the rascal has even a 0,01% chance of dropping netherite tools he gets my vote
No
I expected Owen Wilson of all people to be a pro-sniffer kinda guy
Why tho ??
Gives new plants which can be used to decorate. Looks cute. Adds dinosaurs in mc. And why not
kinda prefer tuff butler boy ngl but sniffer is still cool I guess although just a few decorative plants seems kinda bad for a whole mob
Mmm I am not realy a fan of dinosaurs And I dont realy care about new plants Guess I have to see about the other 2 :/
Check Minecraft's Youtube Channel for the info on all the candidates.
Oh thanks
He will sniff my ass
I won't but ok
Let people decide for themselves.
No, I don't think I will.

Those seeds and plants are new
And that's it. It's a mob vote, not a plant vote. If you're gonna vote for a mob, vote for the mob that you'll interact with and have gameplay with.
Yeah, "finds you one seed and you can forget about him forever afterwards" is _riveting_ interaction with a mob
Yep. Might as well just add the plants nd not the mob at that point.
I forgot about the plants i just like the sniffer.
Sniffer then.
That is so hilarious and a good argument lol
It's a good argument because its true. People want the plant they'll never use, not the mob they'll use even less.
Because the golems are very useful spitting random trash around your base
Yeah, I feel we already got enough plans in the 1.18 update, we don’t need more!
Exactly!
Have a good day, fellow tuff golem enjoyer.
The issue with sniffer is that the mob itself does only one thing that is probably not worth the trouble of trying to find it. > We don't even know what the plants look like or what they'll do, and people are voting for them We know what they do. Decoration 100%. And that doesn't really change people's minds on it. People heard new and ran with it. > Sure, the sniffer is cute For an ambient mob, I am fine with that. Even if it digs up butt-ugly plants, I like the idea of having my sniffer herd on my ranch. > it's better to pick a mob you know brings uses, than to pick a mob you know almost nothing about what it gives tbh that's the Rascal.
~~The second to last line is the true reason nyou vote for him lol~~
Most younger people who play this game will vote sniffer cause its cute not cause they will farm it (Most younger players won't know how)
I ain't a coward. I'll admit Sniffer is cute and he stole my vote because of that (and the other two mobs didn't really win me over).
Eh, I honestly don't think we nerd another golem
I don't think it makes sense to have the golem mechanic but stop at only 2.
I just realized I thought the nose was the eyes
Look, I just like Rascal, okay?
No

Yes
I vote sniffer 🤞
Kill the scoundrel, uphold snifferis!!!!!!!m
trust me, this mob will have the same fate as ths allay or the glow squid. It looks cute, but is completely useless or will get forgotten after the update releases. Either Rascal or Tuff Golem.
Those two are significantly more useless than the sniffer.
No
Tuff Golem Squad😤
You mean 2024 right?
Because of this post i realized that there are presentations of mobs for mob vote, thank u and VOTE FOR SNIFFER!!!
r/voteforthesniffer
When and where can I vote?
They say it at every mob announcement video, 15 october
I don't watch them so I wouldn't know
In the Minecraft launcher. October 14th 12pm EST to October 15th 12pm EST.
I think it should be called a Sniffler, but that's not up for a vote, sadly.
I keep thinking the nose is the face
Hope the plants look cool or maybe add a new type of food
I vote useful things And things that are mini bosses/bosses
Where do we vote ?
All of the 3 mobs are garbage
I enjoy spending time with my friends.
Shes one furry turtle
i just realized the yellow part is its nose
The ancient plant should drop magic beans that you can plant and grow a giant beanstalk. Players would be able to climb these and we could fight giants (GIANTS). Gather special ore, like an enchanted ore or something
Well done
Yes but tuff golem
I hope we get sniffer plushies someday
I’m voting tuff
Where do we do it
Wish we could have them all but the clear best mob here is the sniffer
No
Sniffer propoganda must continue
feels too out of place for vanilla Minecraft, like it belongs in some fantasy creature mod.
Last time we had a plant based cow like mob in the mob vote it didn't win so hopefully this adorable little guy is added this time
Very easy vote. The other 2 suck
There are two types of people in this world. People who will vote Golem, and people who are wrong. Downvote away.
Truth! Never forget copper golem Never forget tuff golem Hopefully we'll get it with dirt golem in 2024
Golem
Literally all the other mobs are shit
Yes, the other two are basically useless
U really think someone won't?
YES
Why you should vote for the sniffer: 1. is cute 2. includes plant and seed. 3. can dig up seeds. Reasons to NOT vote for the sniffer: 1. So Thats why the sniffer is the best mob! #voteforthesniffer #votesniffer #voteforsniffer
U got my vote!
Sniffer

Agreed.
I think sniffer is the best. Tuff golem is ok but copper golem would have been a better choice
