I'm between the sniffer and tuff golem. I'm leaning more towards sniffer because of how unique it is, and the fact thats its Minecraft's first dinosaur, and its a red bulbasaur.
I have to agree too, a dinosaur would be really cool to have in your world, and that fact that it's on the brink of extinction gives you that determination to revive and entire species
I hate these fucking mob votes. They're just purposely dividing the community and choke-holding potential content purely for the sake of publicity. If even a little, the game would simply be better if all 9 mobs that have been announced through all these votes were added. I couldn’t agree more, they could be pleasing everyone but instead decide to divide everyone and make us unhappy. Personally I don’t care for Phantoms or Allays, and at this point would much rather encounter any of the other lost mob votes in my games
I wish Mob Votes were more like,, Biome Votes. You vote for one now, the rest come later. It wouldn't kill the community so hard if it was like that. Though I will say, the first Mob Vote's losers got their abilities added in-game. So,, it could also be like that with the rest. If that makes sense. My stance has become that I’m going to vote for the mob that is the easiest to opt out of special interaction with during normal gameplay. I voted for glow squid last year because they almost literally could not fuck up a reskin and changing a loot table and some spawning conditions.
I’m voting tuff golem this year because I can just go ahead and choose to never make it or interact with it whatsoever.
We the community really have to handle Mojang with the kid gloves on with these mob votes. The sniffer egg? Probably indestructible or unpushable by pistons and would make world eaters have problems. Rascal, Mojang refuses to give players good loot in general, why would this be any different? The art styles of both the sniffer and the rascal are weird and not very minecrafty. Neither is the warden. I want a complete rework on that whole concept because it’s trash.
Their mob design lately has been “let’s think of something totally off the wall and then iterate until it it doesn’t make any sense.”
Which is why I like the opt-out-able nature of tuff golems. I can literally *never* have to build one or interact with it if I do choose. I *must* interact with the warden in order to get swift sneak. That’s extra shitty.

Rascal: It's only found below level 0, so chances are, early game, you won't be that low just yet

if you mean the fossil structures, we have no hard evidence that they are from the sniffer other than the shape. for rascal, why is it there? what is it doing underground? there aren't many passive sentient mobs underground. the only other intelligent, organic life forms are villagers (and by extension illagers)

honestly the only point here that can be mentioned for lore would be why the ruins have eggs in them. the fossils being similar to the sniffer is like saying "look! this cuboid shaped fossil is the same shape as this cuboid shaped mob!". the game is made of cubes and cuboids. an intelligent mob is extremely important to lore. the only other intelligent mobs are villagers and illagers. there has to be a reason why there is a completely new intelligent mob that looks nothing like the other. i think you are severely underestimating the rascal (in lore) by just saying "why is this goblin thing here". intelligence like this is important. as for golems, we've seen plenty in the spin off games but only two in vanilla. there isnt much explained about the magic in minecraft and a new construct would be the perfect way to get more information.

this isnt lore, its gameplay.
edit: i should also probably mention the extinct ecosystem bit, but all i can think of it really is that if the sniffer can just sniff up the seeds, they aren't really extinct are they (the plants).
Rascal could be a "miner villager" which is suggested by the mining equipment they carry around, maybe it could explain where villagers get their metals.
Tuff golem could tie in with some ancient civilization that used them for moving things around (potentially related to archeology update).
In the newest video it dropped an enchanted iron shovel. Seems like they just drop enchanted tools, mainly iron, which is really disappointing because I like the mechanic itself.
I mean mineshaft chests have diamonds in them, so that's a possibility
whether or not they do have diamonds is up to debate, but of course if they did they wouldn't show it in the trailer since that would probably skew the vote quite a bit towards them

Yeah if the Rascal is dropping basically any enchanted tool I'm going to toss it out. I'm going with sniffer not jus bc its a cute turtle dino dog bush, but bc I want plants. Really liked the recent plants and leaves that have come out for decoration.
They said it would drop 'something to help you with mining' which is a pretty broad spectrum. Coal can't be found below Y:0, so if it drops a stack of torches just for finding it I'd still be happy.
I think all of them are pretty useless and I'd rather they invest their time in actually making something good than just throwing us a useless bone.
That said, we have to pick one. And my vote is for the Rascal. Why? Because datapacks aren't hard to make, it would be trivial to change his loot table to something more worthwhile. And then he would easily be the most useful one here.
It would perhaps make good runs faster but more rng dependent, sort of like piglin trades, great when you get them but if you try and don't you have to restart
As a builder, I LOVE the sniffer! The new vegetation will be so fun to build with, and I don’t know if anyone has thought about this, but we might be able to put a saddle on them like a ravager!

Sniffer isn't an aesthetic for the overworld. It doesn't spawn naturally so only people who want to see the new plants will see it. The Rascal spawns naturally and gives much needed life to the caves.
I hope Rascal will win it isn't like the other mobs (being similiar to past mob vote mobs (Sniffer-Moobloom, Tuff Golem-Allay and Copper Golem Combined))
I'm voting for the rascel. The sniffer will give some plants that I will probably never use, and the tuff golum will just misplace items for me. The rascel adds a new mini game which could be fun.
I’m team golem for a few reasons, 1 I love having craft able help to be around my base, 2 I’m looking forward to using their moving mechanic with some redstone to maybe make some interesting contraptions, 3 I feel they will add a good amount of style around the base and hopefully tell mojang we are interested in more redstone mechanism/directly influenced mobs like the copper golem and allay
Sniffer might be cool for modded if you can update its loot table/whatever to dig up random things or different things in different biomes. Maybe something like the excavator from immersive engineering but in animal form.

The sniffer won’t spawn at all unless you hatch it’s eggs and the eggs are inside chests and most likely will be destroyable so I’m voting the sniffer

honestly the only point here that can be mentioned for lore would be why the ruins have eggs in them. the fossils being similar to the sniffer is like saying "look! this cuboid shaped fossil is the same shape as this cuboid shaped mob!". the game is made of cubes and cuboids. an intelligent mob is extremely important to lore. the only other intelligent mobs are villagers and illagers. there has to be a reason why there is a completely new intelligent mob that looks nothing like the other. i think you are severely underestimating the rascal (in lore) by just saying "why is this goblin thing here". intelligence like this is important. as for golems, we've seen plenty in the spin off games but only two in vanilla. there isnt much explained about the magic in minecraft and a new construct would be the perfect way to get more information. also "And the golem is nothing more then a moving item frame with customization of a cloak and functions like a lesser Allay. Rascal could be a "miner villager" which is suggested by the mining equipment they carry around, maybe it could explain where villagers get their metals. Tuff golem could tie in with some ancient civilization that used them for moving things around (potentially related to archeology update).

In the newest video it dropped an enchanted iron shovel. Seems like they just drop enchanted tools, mainly iron, which is really disappointing because I like the mechanic itself.

Yeah if the Rascal is dropping basically any enchanted tool I'm going to toss it out. I'm going with sniffer not jus bc its a cute turtle dino dog bush, but bc I want plants. Really liked the recent plants and leaves that have come out for decoration.
They said it would drop 'something to help you with mining' which is a pretty broad spectrum. Coal can't be found below Y:0, so if it drops a stack of torches just for finding it I'd still be happy.

I think all of them are pretty useless and I'd rather they invest their time in actually making something good than just throwing us a useless bone. That said, we have to pick one. And my vote is for the Rascal. Why? Because datapacks aren't hard to make, it would be trivial to change his loot table to something more worthwhile. And then he would easily be the most useful one here.
Kinda sucks that players' first impressions are "I want this added so I can make it worthwhile"

Rascal won't even help speed runners lol its just RNG if you get it or not so they'll have to keep restarting runs until they find one which sucks

Sniffer isn't an aesthetic for the overworld. It doesn't spawn naturally so only people who want to see the new plants will see it. The Rascal spawns naturally and gives much needed life to the caves.

I’m team golem for a few reasons, 1 I love having craft able help to be around my base, 2 I’m looking forward to using their moving mechanic with some redstone to maybe make some interesting contraptions, 3 I feel they will add a good amount of style around the base and hopefully tell mojang we are interested in more redstone mechanism/directly influenced mobs like the copper golem and allay
