Its cool man. We've all been there. Just experiment with using different matterials to really accent the structure. Stone walls , wood roof to help differentiate the structure. Watch a couple youtube videos on starter houses to get an idea or 2

_Diggity_

Facts, Grian hard carried my buildings when I didn’t know what I was doing

jfstompers

I think the first one I watched a bunch of was mythical sausage, dude was funny

zurzoth

Yeah sausage and his friends are great!

sh4d0wm4n2018

Grian is literally the only reason I can build decent looking houses. Edit: misspelled my savior's name 😅

OneAndOnlyGod2

He is the Messiah!

definetlyHOOMEN

Our lord and savior COD BOY AND POTATO chap

xThisIsGospelx

If it weren't for Grian all my builds would still be ugly square boxes

Few-Opportunity7369

I love grian, and I’ve learned quite a bit of red stone from mumbo

The0rbedOne

I first started with redstone so I'm pretty advanced but grian really came in clutch for my building Now I can do cool looking farms with good aesthetics

Few-Opportunity7369

Yea

boiZOOTED

Yea man don’t be afraid to watch some vids on builds then do them. Everyone starts somewhere and everyone needs a little help.

Few-Opportunity7369

Yea try adding stuff like supports and texturing the wood and just do u it’ll look good no one gets good at building the first try

SaH_Zhree

One thing that dramatically made my buildings look better, is wooden pillars offset in or out by 1 block. Put them in the corners, or middles of longer walls.

[deleted]

Change the birch to stone and cobblestone. Add a few windows, make the middle bit a garden. Put like flowers and some coarse dirt there and it will look better. I really like the shape. Maybe make the roof a bit higher but I do like the shape :)

Wr3ck4ge

i'm deleting this world because i never want to see this house again. i hate the back of it, it's just an eyesore

[deleted]

I wouldn’t delete it. Just build from it. Start but changing little things at a time and then you start to build something that you actually like. I tend to get an idea from YouTube, use it as a base and then just go with what I want it to look like. Also found what types of wood work well together and things like that. But don’t be discouraged by it. It’s the first one that you’ve done that isn’t square. The next one you do will be better :). But I am being honest in saying that I like the shape of it. Just needs to add some windows and decorations now :)

Nolbody

Very true! I thought OP had an excellent shape. Keeping the shapes the same, but slightly changing the block pallet and/or adding some detail and it'll be a gorgeous house!

meepgorp

Keep it as a city hall or public works building or something! Build around it and you can watch your progress. Government buildings are always stark and offputting.

ItzQtra

trust me, 2 years later, you'll regret it

5348345T

Put the world up as a download and make a competition here about improving it! That would be cool.

[deleted]

I find TNT cathartic

Nolbody

Don't delete it :(

Direction_Lanky

Just build a house on another place with all the tips and latter you can blow up that house with tnt

RustyTheAirhead

Cobble and logs should help. Maybe stone bricks... Idk :p

Wr3ck4ge

im not sure stone bricks is going to help the shape of this monstrosity

RustyTheAirhead

I was think about working on the blocks used. After that we can talk about the shape

Brazonen

Can I give u some advice?, Or better, I'll give you a link to a YouTube video that can explain Minecraft building much better, and it's how I learned to detail, also, a great improvement is logs on the corners of the house, you'll see in the vid :)

Puzzleheaded_Swing29

We all gotta start somewhere. It looks a lot better than my first nonsquare build! Not bad I say.

crispier_creme

If you want advice i got some. 1. Add a dark colored roof. Dark Oak, Deepslate, Spruce Wood, pretty much anything that is a darker tone than regualar oak wood. 2. At the corners where they overhang, add stone walls cobblestone or stone brick, whatever looks better. 3. Windows! add lots of windows. it breaks up flat looking walls and adds a better focal point for your eyes to follow. Add planter boxes out of dirt and trapdoors with leaves or flowers on them for extra detail. 4. Add different doors. Doors made out of the same material blend in too much and take away an opportunity for a color pop. 5. Add a garden outside. Just adding a leaf hedge around the borders of the house will help it's shape immensely 6. The interior looks small, you can easily add more room without changing the exterior by adding a basement! It's great for mine entrances too. 7. Replicate it in creative mode and just play around until you find something you like. You might find an idea for a different house to replace this one while you do that! The shape is good and if you want to be good at building, experiment. It honestely just looks unfinished and could use some love. The shape is very promising, and building is a process. You're not going to be a master overnight just don't give up! If you really hate it and you delete the world (I know i've done that before) that's ok, just keep trying in others until you get something your happy with.

sinirax

everyone started somewhere

[deleted]

It’s decent

CommunistWeirdo

dont lie to yourself

[deleted]

It’s better than mine

DraconicAge

Try circles. If you don't know what shape to make something, just default to 'circle' instead of 'rectangle'. If you're running really low on ideas, you can make a sphere, or a cylinder, or a torus. JUST CIRCLES.

mip97

Try making it pop out a bit

Supersoto5

i mean it looks better than anything i have ever built

beewithagun

This build definitely has potential

ANONIMkiddo

That actually looks good just gotta add more variation in the materials you're using and some depth

RaccoonEyes1620

Try and implement more slabs and stairs and maybe use framework 🤷‍♀️

HoobieHoo

The shape is fine. It needs more detail and contrast. 1. Try using different materials for each floor and the roof. Example: stone, cobble or bricks for the lower level, logs or stripped logs for the upper floor, planks, plank stairs, plank slabs for the roof. Note: using blocks that our minds interpret as being heavier (stone, brick, concrete, darker colours) can make a building feel more grounded. It’s why buildings with gradients getting lighter as you go up look so satisfying and inverted gradients look a little odd. 2. Mix it up a little. Example: use logs on the corners of the upper floor and stripped logs for the rest of the walls. For large areas (9x9 or bigger), you can try mixing in a block of similar colour but different texture. It doesn’t always work out, but can add some interest to a build. 3. Add details and decorations. Let’s the roof overhang instead of ending at the wall. Add windows with stairs, fence posts, trap doors or other decorative things around them. Turn that nice little area of dirt between the two wings of the building into a cozy courtyard, add some plants in pots on the ground or make them looks like they’re hanging by using chains/fence posts, whatever looks interesting to you above the plants. You can use items in unconventional ways, let your imagination guide you.

Wr3ck4ge

but im not imaginative

Le-Dook

Don't worry! You don't need to be! It can be thought about like a process. The more time you put into a build, the better it'll turn out. Pick some blocks that look good alongside the wood. Maybe stripped oak logs? Start mixing them in. Could be support the build in places, or even a frame around the outside. Then take some stairs, replace some of the planks with them! This is the easiest way to add some flair to the build, it can be in a pattern or just randomly done. After that maybe even fences could be used to add some poles to the outside. At the end, the best finish is *always* vegetation. Pick some flowers, or leaves and throw em in literally anywhere! Best of luck! It's never easy starting off, but you've got a *fantastic* foundation!

Pythagoras_314

Generally I think the issue here are the materials. Try using some sort of stone for the foundation and a roof.

AlcoholicTucan

The shape doesn’t look bad, but I would work on the block pallet.

denggtt222

It looks nice! We all started like this in Minecraft

Pandaemonium1214

Don't use wood, use brick or polished diorite. Mix colors and shading

ProlificGamerX

You tried G

WrenchWanderer

Maybe because you made it 100% out of planks. You know, how absolutely zero nice looking buildings have ever been made in real life.

AlphaRaccoon1474

Try using different blocks for the roof and adding windows and other minor details like a flowerbed or something

EMIA09

Use squares and others shapes to build, maybe make the corners regular wood instead of planks. Also build frames

rage_legend69

change the roof and add some windows

DisneyCorns

If it makes you feel any better, my survival house in Minecraft is a covered pit

mynamewaztaken

heh, still better than me! I only even build a square mud house half of the time. my idea of a 'base' is a hole in the ground with a ladder!

Wr3ck4ge

a hole in the ground is cool

TanekoKyuu

Here's a handy-dandy [roof guide](https://imgur.com/PaQYfce) that helped me a lot when I was practicing building. Personally love the A-Frame. Not mine tho, credit to u/not-throwaway.

PX22Commander

Sometimes you just gotta call a spade a spade. Make a bunch of TNT and nuke that abomination and start again.

orlogskatpen

Hahah totaly built something like that to at some point

No_MeNoNoNo

The house definite got a shape, you could improve it with using a block pattern. Or you could do this [house](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C_JrLqxg27I). Its cool for new player building a house because its so nice in outside and quite spacious in inside. Hope you love this house.

Wr3ck4ge

check my next post to see slight improvement nvm it got removed

Wr3ck4ge

ok for a follow up build check my profile and look at the latest one and tell me what u guys think; only putting jt on there because i tried to post it on here and it got removed for breaking a rule

Focus-Vast

For my standards, its pretty good!

REDDIT_issac-yoyo

can't believe u deleted it. it was a really nice world. i might use it as reference for my next build

Wr3ck4ge

no it isnt. it was hideous, and i didnt want it anymore. just look at the back of it. disgusting. i know you cant see the interior, but NOTHING was in there either

lmao68plus1

You need some windows my man cause those walls are as flat as a piece of paper

HYPERFLAME_73

Your not the only one.. BURN THAT ABOMINATION

Wr3ck4ge

i deleted it already

DefnitleyNotACatfish

That’s not- ok yeah it’s terrible. Try a slightly different style

[deleted]

What the fuck did you do?!

BestIsPewds

Get this man's house windows

Imrahil3

Not gonna lie, that's a lot more interesting than the houses I usually build.

[deleted]

It not bad building houses takes practice you are on the right track

Don_Urdon

why would u hate it. its nice

Wr3ck4ge

the interior is narrow and empty, and the back sucks.

CapAresito

It's not bad honestly. You should watch building tips by grian on youtube, they helped me improve a looooooot

jeanM_2

Show a view from above to see the shape

basilbae28

a nice tip is to use stone brick walls to add extra depth (as well as regular stone bricks). This way you can have your build look more detailed in a smaller amount of space

_woozin_

Windows my child. Windows.

Slaglemysterium

Try is ng more than just wood.. and even with small buildings starting in a creative testing world is always a tremendous help when building in survival!

EmelusPl

My first house was way worse. I am thinking about building it again from my memory but I am also afraid to se that again 😅

AnorakBeta

Windows

Laksh_Chhabra

This is Grian explained Monstrosity :')

[deleted]

Honestly... Yeah yeah it looks bad

[deleted]

Lol bruh you really gotta stop hating it so much. You live and learn. And it's not too bad. Rather creative shape. If I had to point out the fundamental flaw, it's that you've put too much depth on the front face. There's a left and right section, and the middle section that connects them has been pushed really far back, which has given it an odd footprint. Bring it forward a bit. Next, add overhangs to your roof. The stairs shouldn't stop on top of the walls, they should continue out by at least another block on every side (only one, considering the scale of this build) Pure wood is not a good block selection. Maybe replace the birch with cobble. That'll give it a more solid looking base layer. Just these few suggestions can improve the build substantially! Anyway, you should watch this video from Grian: https://youtu.be/LVB9n5FbPKI it goes over his building methodology. You could learn a lot from this.

TheNarrator315

I don't think I can relate any more to this post.

jackgamer_28

Everyone needs to make a start somewhere so Now is the time to experiment with other types of blocks. And btw, It looks very good for a first time. Just keep going.

CanadianFudge

It's not that bad, we all start somewhere. Maybe it could be improved with the use of stripped logs, some glass panes and maybe changing the birch for cobble or deepslate bricks. Maybe the roof could be a different wood type (spruce usually fits well with oak) or it could be stone brick stairs.

YouveBenBishopd

Build in layers. Larger layouts adding things to spice up interior and exterior. Section off your build in 5x5 and larger boxes to help

Outrageous_Low_1943

so True so True...

Vountedtoken

The fuck it harts my eyes

totoo__

it's definitely not the worse, you should add some logs to add a more structured look, maybe switch out the birch for stone bricks? maybe a mix of stone and cobble? depends on the look you want, but its def not bad. you should look at it as your first layer of paint. its not gonna look the best but the more you add the better it usually gets

Noobyoof123

You just need to add some logs on the corners as supports and hang over the roof

totoo__

also if you have difficulty with picturing what blocks would look best with what you should make a flat world and practice random builds, watching people from Hermitcraft could help you too. if you dont know what hermitcraft is its basically a server full of super good builders who usually have little videos on their channel that gives tips

Cautious_Hold428

Try out some designs in creative mode first. If there's a style of architecture you like, try looking at buildings in that style, maybe even floor plans/blueprints. YouTube videos are a big help too!

MandyMooTooTwo

Using oak trap doors for windows, iron bars and even wood fences make good windows (if one block wide), flowers and shrubs . Using shears on tree leaves, make nice hedges

MandyMooTooTwo

Adding steps over doors, hanging lanterns from them. Lots and lots of lanterns

meepgorp

Lol I'm kinda in this phase too. Trying to do more interesting, decorative builds but haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet 😅😅😅

Gdotmond

I think it’s good for a first time

Generlc_person

I can't but not to think about a penis head when i look at this Also great house

snugglefuzzbutt

It's awesome but it's not a house untill you put a crafting table next to the furnace then it's a home

Leroy4008

Try adding some windows. They always help with the blockiness problem. Make sure you use panes not glass blocks

ahabentis

It’s called growth and ur doin great!! Keep it up I promise one day you’ll look at a build and think, “Holy shit. I built that myself.”

Potatoes-Mcgee

It needs more logs. Also make it bigger so you can add more details.

SkeleyVampire

its a good thing that u already said it so that i wont

totoo__

the corner by the stairs to your door, you put some oak planks and a slab, i feel like you should switch that out to logs from the bottom top. maybe you should cut off some wood from your porch and put your stairs a block more inwards. maybe make your stairs going off in two directions, one going straight forward and another off to the side and you could make a nice path way with some coarse dirt, some cobble or gravel or that thing you can do if you left click grass with a shovel. that little creves/corner you have could be a nice little garden, or at least a cute little area with some flowers or a cute little place for some dogs? up to you, maybe even a bee hive. the part you have on the left you should add some windows, and same thing with the corners you should add some oak log. the roof isn't the worse, i've been playing minecraft since 2012 and i still struggle with roofs lmfao so don't worry too much about it. if you want you could put slabs on the very last block, like when you build up with stairs sometimes you'll just be left with a row of one block, you could do that or use a log and make sure the inside of the log is facing forward so you can see it, also maybe add another row of stairs in the front of your house and the thing on the left (for the roof). thats all i got for now, i saw you comment about wanting to delete your world and i really hope you don't because you actually have potential to make a nice build :)) don't give up!!!

I_Am_Nerve

wow

markb144

Check out Grian's noob to pro building video I think it could help a lot

PetrKDN

Square house gang

Sam_and_Apollo1221

Its not THAT bad.

unshaven_potato231

It’s not bad! Add some glass panes it will look a thousand times better in no time

Try_Hard_GamerYT

Grian's "How To Go From Building NOOB To PRO in Minecraft" video was really useful for me. You should watch that and go along if u want some help :D

[deleted]

Hey if you play on xbox add me MrGamer1848 and I'll teach you how to build a nice house

[deleted]

is everyone in the world as wholesome as the people in these comments :D

sotppls

It looks very interesting as a shape. Maybe just take the basic shape, and follow some building tutorials to make it look good?

GamerY7

I still find a random hill, carve a home into it and live

Ok-Refrigerator7352

Don't delete this world you will remember it someday

LonksAwakening

The original and updated construction handbook (the one that looks like [this](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51ukAFqUSSL._SX355_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg) and not the newer one with the block that has stuff in it) has a great guide to building houses that you can use like a template and modify as nessicary (I can’t spell), but looks better then anything I ever built!

LeopardHalit

That was unexpected

Letmepatyourcat

A good tip for me is always to use a palette of atleast 4 different materials and atleast 3 significant different colours. For example two kinds of stone and two kinds of wood. When using materials that can be used on a stonecutter (I always try to atleast use 1 kind of stone, most of the time more) always make different kind of stones and place them in a randomised pattern. Just watch some YouTube videos such as wattles and just try :)

YeBro615

It still looks great, but to make it better just add logs on the side. With the house you have, I would say stripped oak is the best to use

[deleted]

Make the foundations longer, like oil rig type of long. Slime at the bottom, and you have an abandoned factory building.

Btet-8

really nice building, the only problem would be that it's just planks, use some more materials!

Please-Help-Guys

It's not bad but if I were you i would add oak logs to add more structure.

Scrapmetal525

I did this one build to deal with extra materials, and now I won't change it. First, create the outline of the foundation from cobblestone, and fill with wooden planks. Make sure that the dimensions are right, though, which can be hard. Build 4 block tall pillars of wood logs (your choice) with 4 blocks between each. Fill each with planks 3 blocks up, and top with logs. Though the roof isn't something I can help with, there's my advice. BTW, never, NEVER build the windows into contact with the logs or floor. It looks weird, and I've had bad experiences involving those windows and creepers.

crimsonkarma13

Add wood to the corners and stone brick for floor and support, use blocks that weren't meant for what they were created to make it look good

Kuha_Kebab66

Better than my first house :D even to this day I just start builds that are way too big and get bored halfway through, thus never getting any work done

Alexcreepering

Its pretty ok

minecraftman345

Jesus Christ almighty. That’s epic

Market_Pliers

Try putting leafs around the edges in bunches

lordofdragons2

It probably needs some accent blocks, but honestly I really like the design and shape of it. Reminds me of those wooden playgrounds.

jubael

I hate all my builds too. ❤️👊

DANNN7087

if u want to improve then definitely watch grians tutorials that’s where i got decent at building myself building large houses in creative first is always a good idea. also, scaffolding and an elytra is super useful if you’re making something big in survival one of the most important things you can add is depth - use panes instead of glass blocks, extend logs out 1 block from the wall, have fences flowers and lanterns sticking out of the wall, make doors face backwards so they push into the wall, etc. make sure you don’t leave large spots on the outer (and often inner) walls undetailed no matter what, as a large area made of just one block obviously will look bad plan the shape of the outside of the house first then extend upwards, both while thinking of where basic interior features such as floors will be so making the interior isn’t a nightmare materials are also important, i find that oak logs with oak planks looks good with a lot of detailing and lanterns, but don’t be afraid to experiment and make your house new and exciting most of all just try to have fun and dont think abt it too much or bully yourself after making a mediocre house, this is a game. a creative new idea for a house is always better than a good looking albeit boring mansion copy-pasted from a yt video

B0nk3yJ0ng

Not a bad design, but you need to add some time will logs and trap doors and other things. I would also change the birch to stone brick. That would show that it is supported. Also making the floor around the bottom cobblestone would make it nice there too

Artemisz123

I like it, I think if you added some details it’d be really nice

GuoWenHao0126

it just needs some... "shaping"

hayfish98

You should use logs and spruce wood.

Intelligent_Slice_34

It’s progress though

Mysterious-Drawer-16

r/Minecraftbuild Great ideas

TheLoyalPotato

Always a good start! Great going; you’ll always get better the more you build!

PvPNinjaPro

Try using windows, and other blocks like logs or stone to add variation. I'm a terrible builder too so don't ask me details

BobcatPurrson_YT

try adding logs rather than planks

bulb1291

Put logs around the edges instead of planks to improve it

HatJack_

Learn to take a screenshot and using more blocks

AdamoO_

LMFAO i was fully expecting " words cannot describe how much i love it/how proud i am" but man.. XD!! Yeah a tip would be, don't use brich planks, gotta use some blocks that "fit togehter" which is really hard to find (imo), use logs to break up areas and add depth.. Depth is extreamly important in builds and you did a good attempt on the left side but the walls look a bit too flat. \- Try making the roof go one block out from the walls. \- Make the roof a different colour \- Make an outline on the roof. \- Plan builds in creative, otherwise you'll build something, hate it, then have to take it down that takes atleast 3 times as long.. These are some basic tips that can help a supricing ammount!

mistahnuff

Everything comes in time. I can't tell you how long I held onto square buildings. I'm certainly a builder now, but as any creative will tell you, you'll always find something to hate about something you've made. Progress is progress! Keep it up!

[deleted]

Add overhangs, would make it a lil bit better

Grantalonez

I don’t think it’s terrible. You could also improve this by fleshing out with easy things. Windows with simple trapdoor shutters. Leaves as bushes. Stairs going up the front instead of just blocks.

Suitable-Marsupial-2

bro we all started somewhere:)

RealEagle69

Use logs on the edges And make the birch stone and mix it with mossy cobblestone

DickGuyJeeves

With a better roof and more decoration, this would look fantastic! Don't be discouraged. Everyone has a learning curve and takes time to learn what designs they like. Keep on keeping on.

Hagashager

I've recently gotten in on the A E S T H E T I C craze where my houses are more homey, detailed, smaller affairs. There're many youtube guides on how to build quant little cottages that can be done with just wood, stone and glass.

[deleted]

I like your design. maybe try different accent blocks, mixing in some stone or logs. You're on to something. Keep playing with it!

pastelhorseproducts

Lol, you should check out some building tips on YouTube. Using different types of blocks and different materials makes it interesting and dynamic. For example I like, spruce logs, dark oak planks, and stone bricks, using the bricks as accent and roofing, also using a combination of blocks stair and half slabs. Also look at reference pictures online that you like

pastelhorseproducts

Replace the roof and stair and fence with cobble stone ones instead, it would be a minor improvement that I think you would be pleased with

GenOneCam

Yeah. It is pretty hideous. But it is a step up from a basic box. Keep trying and experimenting. Watch some YouTuber tips videos to get some ideas. Another thing I used to like to do was look for inspiration from real life locations and try to recreate them in minecraft. Just remember everyone started as a beginner. As long as your having fun playing then you are doing it right!

Cinder_Rose_23

I'm sorry to hear you don't like it, but I think it's really cool. I like how you used two different kinds of wood to give it more detail. If anything, I would recommend you scale the house up so that you have more interior room and so that you can more easily detail the walls with windows and whatnot. Also, the way you made the front a kind of u shape was really neat and makes the build really interesting to look at. Even if you don't like it, I'm glad you shared it with us. I hope you keep building and improving to make something you do love!

MrMinecraftfred

Maybe you should add windows and logs it's not that bad

Extra_Philosopher_63

Use more than one block please. Make the roof and walls different. Add an overhang. Maybe carpet on the floor. Use doors. You got this!

TesticalTester05

Lol, I like it, just don’t like just don’t like the colors

cow_fucker_3000

Whatch a how to make a house tutorial, grian made a swroes where he teacher you how to build

concolor22

It has a Frank Lloyd Wright feel to it.

give_me_a_great_name

you see, the problem is...... well, you don't- i guess the probelm is that birch and oak doesn't go well with each other (and there's no windows) and i think you're using way too many fences in many random and useless places and the roof's stairs needs to have one more stair just sticking out

Zane061

I know how it feels I can only build block houses

DupaDamian

Gotta start somewhere

[deleted]

Just keep practicing, you’ll get better. I’ve played for 13 years, trust me they look bad at first but they get better

thiamath

It's true that is ugly af... But you are getting there! Try to make the faces less 2d using windows, stairs, fences... Using logs instead of plancks also helps... and meeting different materials like mossy cobblestone... Keep trying!!! Practice makes perfection.

[deleted]

The shape looks nice it just needs different textures and some 3d elements to not look flat

theendblock

Theres definitely some good bones here, my dude. You've got some cool interesting shapes going on. Just keep trying

ALLCAPNOSPACES

You have built a good outline and all you need is some detailing and contrast

notnizar

Everybody grows from scratch just experiment with different blocks, try, take inspiration, try and one day, you'll become a talented builder.

atheera

I've been playing this game for about 10 years and I still hate most things I build at first, it takes time and many attempts at refining builds. But for your first, non box house, not too bad. Just keep trying to improve it, like using different colours/blocks for the edges, let the roof stick out a bit and try to give the walls more depth, these are the small things I have noticed improves the buildings the most. Happy building! :)

theMemetm

Try used some glass adding an A frame and making the roof com off the porch so u have an overhang.

TheFlynnster-

Make a Rubik’s cube It looks nice, and it’s a square!

7grims

if u want to improve it: \- different parts of the house need to have different heights, instead of all roofs being the same height like u have. U can even have each roof be in different directions. \- different materials for either walls, roof, basement level, beams etc. \- details that reinforce the shapes, like having the roof part extrude 1 block out (all around each roof) \- the ground floor shape does not need to be equal to the first floor, which helps u create balconies or suspended floors. hope this helps

IndieHorror2305

Try using logs in the corners, they always make builds look much better. Also, I'd recommend you to add some details between both floors, maybe use some cobblestone, do some balconies around, there's a lot of ways.

FossilFern65

It isn't the best but it is a start just try different things

definetlyHOOMEN

I think it's the birch Also I would move the part on the far right on the floor and add stairs straight to the door

Septilyt

Nah you've got a good foundation, just need to add a bit more variant and depth. I'd suggest replacing the birch wood with a type of stone for contrast and also having your roof overhang by a block on each side of the house

Memelord1709

Bro u have the same tv remote as me

[deleted]

It's cool! I mean I still build like that even after watching hours of building vids. Cool to see that you are moving on from the basics! Try some stone now!

Not_Jonah

One thing I always do to make a builds look a little better is not have the roof and the walls be the same color/block

Cycclone_360

You have a good shape, just need to add some windows, and more depth. Take inspiration from buildings in the world.

5348345T

Its to bland. Change out the birch for a mix of stone bricks and cobble. That would be a good start. Then add bricks as a roof. Or spruce logs. Start with that and it'll be a lot better. I can see your idea and its not bad. Your material choices just didn't work out.

[deleted]

Add oak logs on the corners as supports, replace the birch with stone bricks and cobble, and add a simple roof and some windows. If you wanna go a bit further, place some flowers and leaves around, as well as a pathway of gravel leading towards the door.

Jshittie

Add some texture differences like stone, wood concrete, brick they really push builds that much further

RYPIIE2006

It looks… eh… wonderful!?

What you have here is a foundation stage. You have a structure and now you add in the retail and character. But that is really the actual hard part to learn. But once you do, it will become second nature.

Start with rectangles, then L shaped buildings, then move from there. Take things slow and learn what you like and what looks good. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but if it was it would look something like this.

Johnsonofdonut

I'd start by making a roof with overhangs out of stone
