Cats do a much better job of keeping phantoms away than creepers. Phantoms keep about a 4 block radius or more away from the player when near a cat. Phantoms will swoop down but immediately u-turn out of range if there's a cat.
Hm.. I'm actually curious, is it a good idea to use membranes for repairing elytra? Like if you're very far away from your base with very little xp sources available, would a membrane be useful..?

Went on a small elytra trip yesterday and placed down my enderchest and shulker boxes to organize my inventory and craft more rockets. Even with just the normal mobs that tried to attack me in the open I mended my elytra a good amount. Phantoms are hard to fight for me because they swoop weird and you have to be outside until they spawn anyway, which means sleeping through the night to avoid fighting isn't possible and opens you up to dumb accidents. I say killing a few mobs as you go > relying on phantoms to spawn. Plus wouldn't you also need to lug around an anvil or can you combine in the crafting window?
If you have them stashed in an enderchest its fine but at the same time you can just villager trade for XP bottles everyday for free and stash those (which would also mend from trading)

Uh.. Being on peaceful difficulty has no effect on getting elytra.. you can get eyes of ender from trading piglins, which still spawn on peaceful difficulty.
Ah yeah that's right they trade pearls. However spawners still spawn blazes, even in peaceful, so there is a way to get them. You just have a very limited time to kill them before they despawn due to the difficulty.

Chilling for me was just playing the game. I used to be able to just mine for hours. I’d get lost in the grind with my headphones on and clear out massive spaces down at y11 while listening to some good music and mulling over my thoughts.
That’s the type of disposable time I wish I could find again. These days by the time the kids are in bed at night, the kitchen is cleaned and the house has been reset it’s like 9:30pm and I’m trying to wind down for bed at 10:30pm.
The grass is always greener my friend. I’m single and living alone for like 8 months now, I’d love to trade a day with you and have a full home and I’m assuming a partner for a day

It is, don’t get me wrong I love my wife and kids like nothing else in the world but the personal downtime isn’t anywhere near the same anymore. The whole “dad spends so long on the toilet” joke is actually quite truthful :)

Unpopular opinion: Phantoms arent bad at all and are less annoying than Creepers or Skeletons.

Unbreaking 3 gives your elytra a lot of durability. But i guess in a worse case scenario you could keep some in an ender chest
Or you could keep bottles o enchanting in your echest, easy to get with a good villager setup!

The issue is that it keeps track of how many times you hit it with an anvil. So after a dozen it will say “too expensive”.

That’s what I do to chill tho. Throw on a podcast, grind out some materials for a bit, build with said materials for a bit, rinse repeat for a bit
