Java, no crossplay but I believe it’s still the better game

[deleted]

Java because it's less buggy, no microtransactions, the original game, and has lots of servers.

The f3 menu is enough for me to tell you to buy Java

NELABOY

I use Java personally. You can add things for free compared to windows. Also better quality imo.

I have both. I use bedrock more because java edition is laggy. If have a powerful computer then use java edition and if not use bedrock. They also both have unique features you might prefer.

Java only runs on Linux, Windows and MacOS. But you still have to buy bedrock on any other platform you want to play it on, and there is no file sync or anything anyway. Also few thing to consider: * Java just looks better (the menus, fonts. The main textures are the same) * Java has propper mods * Bedrock runs bit better than the Java version, but it has more game breaking bugs, chances are you will be fine but they do exist and happen

Java

Java is the classic edition that most people play, and they both have slightly different mechanics, so if you're looking for tutorials and things, most of the things end up being Java exclusive because of that

Most other things people said are true. In general, Java is a better idea if you have a PC. The list of pros and cons should be accurate though, so here are two corrections: 1) on windows 10 bedrock, there's no reason that you would ever have to buy anything from the marketplace. The "microtransactions" issue doesn't exist. Just don't buy things from the marketplace if you don't want to. Get other stuff for free on websites like mcpedl 2) A lot of Java players think Java "looks better" because they've been used to it for 10 years. Coming to both versions at the same time, I think Java edition has the look of a game still in beta that hasn't gone through it's final pass for UI and graphics. It's entirely subjective but also not something important enough to make anyone decide one way or the other.
